Hi! We are the mounds view beamline team!

In the past, physicists have detected electrons, protons, neutrons and all the like but have

you ever thought about a particle with a fractional charge?

Fractionally charged particles are particles that have a charge that is not a whole number,

such as ⅓ elementary charge.

Now, in order to find these particles, we are going to use a magnetic field caused by

the magnet MNP17 and measure the deflection that is caused by the Lorentz force, which

it perpendicular to the field and the particle's trajectory. We will measure the angle of incidence,

and compare it to that of a particle with an elementary charge of +1.

If there is a significant difference in the angles, this will imply that we have detected

fractional charges.

First, the particles from the secondary beam will run through the collimator, which will

filter particles with outlying momentum. Then, it will run through the bend and through the

empty Cherenkov's and reach the experimental area. Once the beam arrives, it will go through

the sensors and when it hits the magnet, the particles should bend according to the charges

they have. The micro megas detector set up after the magnet will then detect/record the

bend angles on the particles.
