Solo cold camp - tarp, Telemark, Norway - Duration: 12:01.
Tough, old woman in the wild!
Now I am really wet of sweat!
I like to work like this!
I have pulled a lot of gear the way up to Eikelitjenn (the pound surrounded by oaks)!
Here I want to sleep under a tarp tonight.
As you see....
it's soon spring - March month today.
The ice is not safe enough near the land.
I don't use to walk on the ice in March!
But this year it has been safe congelation ice!
So I have tried - look here!
It's not safe near the land.
When I have fasten this one, I'm almost finished.
This is a good tarp-camp I think!
I'm satisfied by this setup!
Now I have to search for spruce branches and firewood.
Here I have collected some spruce branches,
I think I need more, indeed!
I need place for the dogs and myselves.
This is very good!
I'm satisfied with this one!
It's a lot of trees around here, so it's easy!
Here you see my camp.
This is our place for the night!
You have to move a bit, but that's later on ;)
Now it's snowing, but the dogs don´t want to come under the tarp.
Luckily I have got a nice fire!
Soon I will have some food!
Can you hear the snow?
It´s perfect that I got the fire and the tarp ready before the snow!
Now we keep ourselves dry!
That's good!
I think this is so fascinating...
the heavy snow which falls down from the sky.
Now it's time to fry some chops!
Out in the spruce woods with the meat :)
Look at this!
Extra spice ;)
I wanted to give the chops some salt, but...
I think I will get some nice chops ;)
A lot of wet firewood!
Now I think it's steady enough ;)
This looks delicious - fat and tasty!
Now it's cooking in butter - yummy!
Food for people in the wild!
Now I will enjoy a....
real piece of meat!
This is hot!
Chops under the tarp!
This is almost a slimming diet ;)
I have struggled to reach the goal today!
I was sweating a lot on the way up here!
And now the dogs are waiting for the bones!
Maybe you can see my campfire over there.
The fog is coming.
It's raining a little.
The tarp is safe and I have my bonfire - Teddia is waiting for me.
Everything is calm and nice!
Look at this calming bonfire.
This is my place for the night.
Under a tarp.....
a night in early spring - almost winter.
Now it´s night, and soon the campfire dies...
I´m lucky and satisfied....
this is a good way to spend the night...
I will fall asleep beside a dying campfire
It´s just a little tarp between me and the universe :)
The dogs are sleeping.
We have got enough food.
This is a good way to live for a woman in the wild!
Good night!
Thank you for following me this day :)
Good morning, guys!
I have had a good night!
Now it's snowing again.
Kiro has run away !!
I cannot understand how he managed it.
He was tied by a powerful chain!
Kiro??
Kiro!
Kiro - Kiro - Kiro!!
Here you come!!
Hi, my little boy!!
You ran away again!
Thank you for coming back!
You have cut of the harness with your teeth!
Thank you for coming back to me!
You have been on the run for a long time now.
You came back :)
It brightens slightly in the sky now.
This is the view from my tarp.
Now I have to make a morning-fire, to become warm.
I have left my sleeping-bag!
I heard the tawny owl tonight!
The tawny owl made sound for a long time :)
That's fun I think!
no...
Something like this.
This can be a good day :)
I have decided to melt snow today!
Because...
I'm not sure about how clean the water is!
It has come a bit snow on my tarp during the night.
The ice is unsafe near land, and good and safe out on the pond.
I like to wake up in the woods - it´s just a bit exhausting to get out of the sleeping bag ;)
It was really fun to hear the tawny owl this night!
It was magic!
Soon I will make some eggs and bacon for breakfast.
Here I have started with the breakfast...
It's much fat on my bacon today, but it will taste.
This is real woodmans breakfast ;)
It's hot!
Thank you for watching!
This was an overnighter under tarp in the woods of Telemark.
We don't need to travel far away to come to the wilderness!
Welcome back!
Goodbye!

MIT Media Lab Logo - Michael Bierut | Logo design & Designer review - Duration: 5:21.
Hello and welcome to this video
Gareth here from Tastytuts.com
In this video we are going to look at the MIT Media Lab logo
learn a little bit about the logo and the designer behind it.
The MIT Media Lab logo was designed in 2014
led by Pentagrams and Michael Beirut, born 1957.
Michael Beirut is an American designer
who is also a design critic and designer.
Michael Beirut has won hundreds of
design awards and has led the design for
popular brand identity such as:
Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign
Mohawk
Saks Fifth Avenue
Mastercard
and even the Guitar Hero logo to name a few.
Michael Bierut's design is not exclusive to branding
he has also created work for environmental graphic design
and editorial design.
Amongst all of his work
is logo for MIT Media Lab is one of his best known.
The to MIT Media Lab logo is actually part
of a set of 24 different logos.
The MIT Media Lab is an umbrella organisation
which spreads over 24 different departments.
What makes the MIT logo interesting was its design approach
Michael Bierut established a 7x7 grid system
which he used to create acronym type hieroglyphs for each department.
this grid system deliveres some interesting combinations
with a distinctive visual language.
The same grid system is used to create
additional visual elements
like a complete typeface and an icon set.
So what type of logo is the MIT Media Lab?
Well each logo is essentially a lockup combination mark.
Each logo includes both and logomark element
in the form of an acronym type hieroglyph
and the logotype wordmark element.
The wordmark element in the logo
is a bold Sans Serif typeface and appears to be
Helvetica Neue bold developed in 1983 by D. Stampel AG
this font is a reworked version of the original Helvetica designed in 1957
To quote Michael Bierut on his design:
The reason it worked was that it struck
a balance between a central theme and variations.
The variations were sufficient to help each
of the research groups engender a sense of esprit de corps.
The central theme help them feel unified that they are all about one big idea
which is the innovation that is enabled by the environment created by the media lab overall.
So what do I think about this logo?
Well this is a real simple execution yet it's very distinctive
and Michael Beirut manages to pull it off in only black and white.
I really liked the simplicity and boldness of the logo set.
compared to the previous logo system
I think this one is more practical and works really well.
They all feel as part of one house
the acronym type hieroglyphs have an abstract aesthetic
so they work really well in patterns and textures
and are really striking on business cards and posters when they are used individually.
So what can we learn about this story?
This logo set was designed in 2014
to replace the previous logo system
that had been used since 2011.
The previous logo system had 40,000 different permutations.
To quote Michael Beirut:
So there's 40,000 different versions,
I talked to the person who is head of marketing.
I said well how do you decide which of
the 40,000 different versions to use?
If someone says send me your logo
which one do you send them?
She said oh, I just send the same one over and over again.
So it's tiresome to manage many permutations of a logo.
This was one of the reasons why the logo was redeveloped in 2014.
So the previous logo system only really lasted about three years.
That is pretty short for a logo lifespan.
As interesting, creative and quirky a logo system can be in theory.
Having multiple permutations of a logo can actually be hard to use.
If you'd like to learn more about Michael Beirut
and the MIT Media Lab logo set
you can watch him speak about it

So that is one of many logos and designers I have spoken about.

#06 Do I Need a Business Card for My Cleaning Business? - Duration: 7:48.
Hi there, I'm Angela Brown, and this is Ask a House Cleaner.
This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question.
I get to help you find an answer.
Today's question comes from a woman who is starting house cleaning company and wants
to know; "Do I need a business card?"
Alright, so this is going to contradict everything that I've ever said about business cards because
I'm a huge fan of business cards, and I think that everybody needs a business card, but
not for house cleaning.
What?
Not for house cleaning?
What's up with that?
Okay so if you have a flyer that you run, your flyers are going to have a specific set
of things on that flyer, that are going to tell people more than your business card.
The purpose of a business card is to give somebody something so that they can contact
you back immediately.
But a business card is small, and it gets lost.
So, what I recommend is this: Do you have a worksheet?
If you do not have a worksheet go over to https://savvycleaner.com/worksheets
Download yourself a worksheet.
This is one that I've used for years.
It works I've been using it for 25 years.
It's amazing.
You can change all your contact information and just print it out.
https://savvycleaner.com/worksheets
So get a worksheet and print up several of them.
You're going to use them for all of your jobs, and keep them in the back of your car.
When someone asks you for a business card, do not give them a business card.
Give them instead, a worksheet.
Here is the reason why.
A business card has what?
It's got a logo, it has your name, it has a phone number, and an email address.
That's it.
Some people put like a little coupon on the back.
"20% off."
What is 20% off?
What does that mean?
Does that mean you're going to raise your prices 20% so you can give me a 20% discount,
and I pay the same price?
What does that mean?
It doesn't really mean anything right?
And although a business card as small, a worksheet is not.
A worksheet, my worksheet is three pages.
And so what happens when I give you a worksheet that has all my contact information on it?
And it has a checklist of all of the things that I do when I come clean your house.
On the back page which is the third page for me, it has all my rules and regulations.
This is how I expect for us to work together.
So, when you go through all that you're like; "Oh.
Well, that's super easy.
I can follow all these rules.
This woman does all these things.
Well, I should have her be my house cleaner."
So instead of me giving you a business card because that's my opportunity to sell you
something, I'm going to give you something that will sell itself.
So, when you go to my website, when you go to my Facebook, when you go to whatever the
social medias are so that you could vet me - you already have a pretty good idea by the
time you get there what you're expecting.
Now a business card is a little bit different from just a referral for this reason.
When somebody gives you a business card, they're giving it to you.
"Here's my business card."
It's something physical I'm handing you.
Because I'm handing it to you - you just met me.
You saw me in my uniform.
You just met me; you saw my face, you know what I look like.
And you know if I'm articulate and you can understand what it is I'm saying.
Which is really important to a lot of people who hire house cleaners.
They want to be able to communicate with their house cleaners.
Are you articulate?
When you hand someone your business card, they can see that right up front.
But when you hand them a worksheet, not only are you articulate, and you're in uniform,
and you have a great personality.
And now they know how to hire you.
All of your rules are right there.
Now one of the biggest referral techniques that I have, and this is Magic listen to this.
It's people taking my worksheets that are filled out - that I fill out at every single
house every single time I clean.
And they give that to their friends at the school bus stop.
They give that to their neighbors.
Okay so what happens is they're at the school bus (stop) talking, and they say; "Oh man,
my house cleaner quit on me." and someone that is standing there says; "Oh, I've got
the best house cleaner ever.
When I come back this afternoon to pick up our kids from the school bus, I will bring
you her information."
Now, of course, they have my information on their phone, they could just retweet it or
share the contact, or whatever, but they don't.
They bring back the worksheet.
It's got my contact information on it.
It's got my website.
It's got my email; it has a checklist of all of the things that I've done.
And it has all of my rules and regulations.
I can't tell you how many times over the last 25 years, I've gotten a call from someone
they say; "Oh, I'm friends with so-and-so."
Oh great.
I go over to bid the job and guess what?
My worksheet, from someone else's house, is on their counter.
They've already vetted me.
They've got a referral from one of their friends, someone that they know, like, and trust.
And they already know what I do.
My work is done.
I don't have to go through the whole reselling the process or whatever.
I go straight to the close.
"How soon do you need someone?
Why don't we take a look through your house, show me what you need to do, and let's pull
out our calendars and figure out a good time for us to get you on my schedule."
I don't I don't have to sell.
My worksheet already sold for me.
So, are you going to use that opportunity to hand someone a business card this says
so very little about what you do?
Or are you going to use that one opportunity to actually close the sale?
Do you need a business card?
Yes, you can have one.
Should you give it out?
No.
No, you should not.
In every opportunity give someone a worksheet.
I can't tell you how many times I've been in a neighborhood and I've been loading up
my cleaning supplies in my car, and someone will drive by.
"Oh, you're the cleaning lady I keep hearing about.
Do you have a card?"
"I don't.
But let me give you this worksheet.
It's got all my contact information on it.
If you have any questions, give me a call.
I'd love to come by and give you a free estimate."
"Well, I just live two doors down.
Can you run over right now?"
"Well, I'm just finishing this job right now, so yes I can.
I'll be there in 5 minutes."
And so, then you go over, and you bid the job.
And the next thing you know, you've scheduled two houses in the same neighborhood, for the
same day that saves a whole lot of travel time.
Right?
So use your marketing materials to the maximum.
The exception for the business card rule is this:
Carry the business cards with you everywhere you go.
I carry them in a fanny pouch when I'm out jogging.
Or when I'm at the gym because I go to the gym in my neighborhood.
Or I go jogging in my neighborhood, so these are the areas I'm marketing in.
This is my market.
So, when someone's like; "Oh you're the housecleaning lady!"
"I am.
Here's my card."
I don't carry the worksheets that would just be obnoxious, right?
But I'm out running "I do I have a little card right here, " and you give them the
card, okay that's great.
So there are a couple of occasions, but like I say I've given out a handful of cards
in 25 years.
I've given out a boatload of worksheets.
Alright, so that's it for today. If you like this tip please pass it along.
Share it.
Retweet it.
Repost it.
Repin it.

the back so you can divide them you can
keep that one down in the middle and put the other ones up.
17-inch alloy wheels

The car comes with two keys, but always
make sure you take the keys out of the
car with you because you're
not putting a key in the ignition so
you've got to remember to take it or out
of the car and need to lock it.
I would split the two keys and
keep one indoors just in case.
