- I probably spend about 30 to 40 hours
playing video games a week.
That also includes livestreaming it as well.
My name is Anais, I'm the social media
and marketing producer at Hipster Whale.
When I'm not working, I usually stream on Twitch,
I stream a variety of games,
I also spend a lot of time walking my dog!
My dog is very popular on Twitch,
he has his own Twitch emote as well.
I always wanted to have a job in gaming,
I just didn't know it was possible.
I think a lot of people don't know
that there are different
avenues in the games industry,
such as producer roles, marketing roles,
QA, which is sort of game testing,
there's also sound design.
When I found out there were
games degrees available,
I decided to quit my old degree
and pursue a career in games,
decided I want to do something
I'm passionate about.
I'll be working in the games industry
for about three years now.
My job entails managing all the community management online,
and also promoting our new games to streamers,
YouTubers, journalists and news sites,
making sure that everyone knows that your game exists,
and encouraging them to check it out.
I get to work with a bunch of different titles,
such as Crossy Road, Disney Crossy Road, and Pac-Man 256,
and previous to that, at my old job,
I got to work on Faily Brakes.
It's definitely a cool experience
to be associated with really popular titles,
it's very rewarding.
I'd love to be recognised in the games industry
for doing things differently,
and having those things have an impact.
I'm a big advocate for being a spokesperson
for girls in the industry.
I think being a role model is a good way to do that.
A games degree allowed me to understand
the game development process, and allowed me
to understand the skills I need for the industry.
The games industry in Australia is really booming
at the moment, we've seen a lot of success,
and I think it's definitely going to get bigger and better.
