Waching daily Oct 6 2017

Hey guys!

Welcome back to top 10 gaming.

I'm your host Kelly Paoli, and today we're taking a look at those heart-wrenching, those

spine chilling, those sanity destroying I-can't-believe-this-just-happened moments in video games.

The top 10 moments that gave you chills.

Some of these are shocking, and some of these just dish out the feels.

The intense feels, that is.

So much feel.

And warning!

We've got a few spoilers on this list.

With that being said, let's jump right in!

10 Fallout 3 - The Nuke In Fallout 3 you're given the option of

blowing up the city of Megaton.

With a nuke.

And for those of you who carried through with it, you're given an impressive view of the

city turning to fire and smoke as a nuclear cloud appears on the horizon.

It's a stark moment, that can leave you guilt ridden for the act of terror you're

responsible for.

9 Mass Effect 2 - The Suicide Mission Your actions determine whether or not everyone

survives, making this a case of the player being responsible for how much of an impact

the story actually has on them.

Developers BioWare wanted to "create an experience that was less about being a game

and more about being an experience."

And the suicide mission is definitely a huge part of that, the summation of the choices

and interactions you've carried out prior to it in the game.

8 The Last of Us - Giraffes There's a ton of moments from The Last of

Us that could easily make this list, but we decided to go with a chilling moment that's

a little on the lighter side.

Before things get real crazy again, there's a moment where Joel and Ellie spot a herd

of giraffes in Utah.

Ellie's never seen giraffes before, and it's a lovely moment the two characters

share before events in the game become dire again.

And, fun fact, the game is ripe with giraffe references prior to this scene, with the giraffe

motif appearing in Austin.

Pittsburgh, Bill's Town and even in Left Behind, typically appearing as plush toys

or advertisements.

7 Life is Strange - Crippled Chloe While at times protagonist Max seems a little,

well, stoned, the game really captures the beauty of human interaction, the power of

empathy and the bond of friendship, all through a lot of subtle yet meaningful moments.

The game takes a shocking turn by the last chapter when the mystery of Rachel Amber's

disappearance unravels, along with many other questions that arose in the narrative of the

game, but one of the most impactful and chilling reveals happens mid way through the game.

While you spend part of one of the game's chapters trying to reverse the past (and Chloe's

father's death), the end of the chapter surprises you, showing you that those good

intentions have dire consequences.

One of those being Chloe, now paraplegic, having suffered a car accident rather than

her father.

6 Journey - The Ending Journey is without a doubt one of the most

beautiful games out there.

And the ending of the game, you climb the large foreboding mountain that's been a

small mound in the distance for so long.

It's environment is cold and bitter and harsh, and you collapse in the snow until

the white robed figures give you energy to carry on to the summit of the mountain.

It's stunning, and if played co-op, this pilgrimage is even more impactful when you

reach the ending together.

5 Red Dead Redemption - The death of SPOILERS John Marsten

I mean, if you haven't played Red Dead by now, you should get on that.

Especially before the highly anticipated sequel hits store shelves in 2018.

Read Dead Redemption was ahead of it's time in terms of graphics, and before GTA V, it

was definitely the most beautiful game Rockstar had produced.

Towards the end of the game, when our protagonist John Marsten, who has been working OH SO HARD

to redeem himself all throughout the game, has his chance at happiness and peace ripped

away from him when he's murdered by the very man he was working for.

4 Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic In KO TOR 1 you play as Revan, and are led

to believe that there's an evil sith out there to kill you.

But in an encounter with Darth Malak, you learn the truth - you used to be on the dark

side, that you are this mysterious villain all along.

The Jedi wiped your memories when they tricked the sith into attacking a small fleet of Republic

ships, in which they boarded your ship and among Darth Malak trying to destroy it as

an act of betrayal, they take your body back to the Jedi council, who use the force to

re establish Revan's mind and remove his memories with the sith.

The revelation is shocking, and left many fans startled with what choices to make in

the game there on out.

3 Batman Arkham City - the ending So if you guys haven't played Arkham City,

I highly recommend it.

Especially if you're a comics fan - looking at you Top 10 Nerd squad.

Anyway, the ending was something that blew a lot of people away, and was pretty unexpected

when the antidote viral capable of saving the Joker's life smashes.

Leading to the final cinematic where Batman walks out of Arkham City carrying the lifeless

body of the Joker in his arms.

I remember sitting on my couch, controller in hand, completely perplexed by his death.

They killed him.

Holy crap.

They killed him!

2 Left Behind While we've already mentioned that The Last

of Us has many a chilling moment, so much so that we could probably give it it's own

list, it should be noted that it's DLC Left Behind also packs a hefty punch when it comes

to feeling the feels.

So Left Behind, you play Ellie before the events of The Last of Us.

Enter Riley.

Who, surprise, she shares a kiss with.

Which a lot of us did see coming, yay representation in video games!

Anyway, the chilling moment happens at the very end of the DLC after Ellie and Riley

have escaped their infected pursuers.

Both have been bitten.

And both await death together.

It's a particularly painful moment since we all know what the outcome of that scene

will be, despite not being shown Riley's death.

Ellie lives, completely destroyed by losing her best friend and potential romantic companion.

It's heart wrenching as players know that the inevitable will never come like it does

for Riley.

1 Valiant Hearts: The Great War - Emile's Death

This whole damn game is a chilling moment.

It's incredibly beautiful, a chilling perspective into the past and the history of WW1, and

will likely make you cry.

Or at least tug at your heart strings.

While there's a ton of moments to choose from, one of the most emotionally impactful

is the execution of Emile after he unintentionally killed an officer, is courtmartialed and is

sentenced to death by a firing squad.

With stunning visuals mixed with a heart wrenching voice over and a soundtrack that ties it all

together, we watch Emile walk his green mile.

And feel all of the feels.

There we have it friends!

Which moment on our list gave you the chilly willies?

you guys in the next one.

30 Day Video Challenge: 05. Strategy | Hiring - Duration: 2:22.

Hey! So, we're still in the strategy realm and so today I want to talk a little bit

about hiring and actually a little story so friend of mine hired an editor and

she's my biking buddy and we're like in Central Park and we're like doing our

loops in the park and she's griping and griping and griping about all the things

this guy didn't do and she's paying him like all this money and I'm kind of

listening to it I'm like gee I mean she hired him as an editor to me and editor

is someone who gets all the materials cuts it and then gives it back to you

what she was complaining about was not the editing part it was what I will

consider what a producer would be doing so bringing all the material together

putting it all together and organizing it putting the scripting together making

sure that the right graphics got the right place so for me was coming from a

filmmaking and and you know corporate video background is it's clear that an

editor is the person who sits there and edits they're not the person who

organizes everything around it but to her that was the same person so we had a

bit of a conversation around it and you know I said Terry look you know you

asking this guy to really do two jobs and sometimes even three jobs because

she also had him do the research for stuck footage and then we search for

music what she'll some editors are really good at that but it's not not

really their job so I would think that before you hire anybody whether it's a

producer a writer a shooter or an editor or whatever else you know it is that you

need support and help with have a discussion about what it is what that

person does and don't be afraid to say like do you search for stock footage can

I dump all my stuff on you will you organize it so just be clear that when

you do hire someone that you do go through step by step list what needs to

get done and it just helps you to meet the expectations to make sure that

you're not surprised all of a sudden instead of a ten-hour guy

it's becoming a 20-hour gag right so it'll just avoid surprises at the end

happy hiring

How to create a Facebook Banner Video Animation - Facebook Cover Video Upload made Easy - Duration: 9:40.

hi Nick wood here and I thought I'd share with you how to make a very simple

Facebook banner video it's quick it's easy you just need some free Camtasia

software you can use your editing software that comes with your Mac or PC

and it just gives to your Facebook page that little extra zing that people might

stop and have a look so anyway I hope you like it if you do please share the

video if you will otherwise yeah enjoy and make your own they're very simple to

do first things first you want to go into Camtasia which is a free piece of

software you can download from Google and you need to tell it initially the

width and height of the pictures you want to make I go 1600 by 700 seems to

fit nicely for this Facebook and banner so there you can see it's actually

loaded up is a nice template so I'm going to add some text so I'm gonna add

in Nick water put a space in there between a Nick and the W and it's quite

easy to align it and then another subheading my little tag learn do teach

and again just near it so I put that right in the middle and then underneath

that little bit of body text so just click on that title brings up the box

and I just want to put my message a name so ask Nick wood or at ask Nick would it

should be

so now we have a very basic design or black on a white background so what I

want to do is actually just move that there I just want to change the the

background open actually first thing let's let's make that spacing a little

bit bigger so highlight it you got a spacing bar and just drag that and I

just elongates the word so just wanted to make when the self promotion wanted

to make myself look bigger when actually knew how tall I was you'd understand why

okay so just make sure everything's lined up nicely so then I'm going to

click on the background button make some duplicates so now I've got two so I want

a white one to start with I want to change the background so I click on

background I've got the color palette so I'm gonna kick off with a nice red one

and lo and behold there's a red background and actually really cool it's

actually changed the change the writing to white so you can actually read it

which is excellent and I was going to do that manually so I know I want a black

one so I'll just literally just copying I don't want to move anything because

it's all gonna go seamlessly so again just copy the previous one that text

hasn't moved all I'm doing is just changing the background color it is as

simple as that seriously easy

yeah okay so you got a white one black one the red one the blue one only four

that's fine you know we don't to make it too too complicated the next thing to do

is just download it give it a title so I'll call it Nick would banner done and

then download

just wait little while while it downloads and what this is gonna give us

is those four separate designs all in one little folder that we can then

upload into our video editing software I'm gonna be using mine which is

Camtasia which is a paid version but the same for iMovie or Windows Movie player

I believe so there you go there's banner there's our three or four things we load

them into the media Bay and we want to then drop them into the play line so

here we go and it's a big site this will be the same say just gonna be dropping

them down all onto the one one track next to each other and what we want but

for facebook we need them to be we need them to be the the video link needs to

be was it just over 20 seconds minimum 20 seconds so we've got those in there

so they move them make them and then we're gonna add the add the effect now

she's gonna keep the motion effect so it's a transition we're transitioning

between the different photos things got think the good on gradient wipe that was

the one I used I think so you just literally drag and drop them in between

the clips very simple to do and as I say that's gonna that's going to get the

motion out that will make it a movie as opposed to just random pictures changing

I mean it still would be a you still would be a video but probably not the

greatest one so now what we're gonna do is actually make these yeah so it's

going to be too long otherwise so let's make it a little bit snappier I'm gonna

make them all 2 seconds there's a two second clip of each picture with a

transition and you know it'll look good at the end

quickly whizzed through those

there you go and now you can see exactly what's happening

and the reason I'm doing this is because you know Facebook have now allowed us to

do it so normally when facebook want us to do something it's a good idea to do

it and say yes so add a little bit of music to it so I've come into YouTube

and unfortunately can't you can't edit much in YouTube anymore but they have

left us with the audio library and this is a library of free music and sound

effects that you can use I don't want to put any creative commons elements on so

I'm not gonna pick anything with a little little person in the circle but

yeah right to be and that sounds like a good enough song Jingle Punks and so I'm

just going to download that and then you're going to import that into our

media library our media bin

import away they're now going to drag that into the track above our new little

video and of course it's a bit long so I need to cut it down

I say it's easy to like easy to I'm just going to clip it at this playhead here

and then also once I've clipped it I want to then give a little bit of a

audio effect which will just slow and quiet in the music towards the end it's

just it's just so you know if the music loud bang bang bang bang bang it doesn't

drop straight off so it just fades out at the end of the video which is nice

nice effect I think a cache looking good so we just want to share it

so I'm download it as a local file

eppley there I want it to be and now just download nicely Oh follow

why would it be on Twitter I should have should have switched my emails off when

I was making this video right once we have downloaded it we now want to upload

it into Facebook so I've got a test little test Facebook here so you click

on the load photo video button and choose your video

and that just uploads it does take a little time but speeded up the sequence

here and there is and you can now drag and drop it into the right position so

I'm just gonna bring it up a touch too much I don't want the two black edges

showing on top or bottom one to be fairly central click Next and yeah I

never choose to automatically replay the whole video as a loop and there you go

that's it that's our button done it's how you put a scrolling video on to your

facebook business page banner
