'Kay, this is gonna be purely for test purposes, so... let's watch myself get annihilated.
Hey, this isn't turning out too bad... ...or so I thought.
No, that wasn't really much of a clean sweep.
Now let's see if I can figure this out.
BINGO!
...Okay, I've got nothing.
*laughter* Shy? I don't think so! *more laughter*

Is there more freedom for creativity
in American culture or Russian culture?
It really depends
It really depends on how we define
freedom of creativity
whether it is
something that
is essentially mandated
by the state
whether it is like
what you can do within
the um
what the law allows you to do
whether it is
some kind of like, you know
that internal freedom
the capability to create
that exists only
within you and does not really
depend on like what the state ordinances
and in that regard, I would say that
um...
I dunno, I think its
I think its really
on par right now
because I do not necessarily
define creativity
based
on like, you know on the state guidelines
of what you can write about
or what you cannot
I think creativity just exists
so yeah
Last year, I watched the Boris Nemstov film
and we got to speak with the director
Have you ever felt the need
to be careful about
what you write in your books?
Yeah, I actually have.
and so here's once again,
we're separating creativity
of what I can write about
uh, for say, for my friends online
or what they can maybe
post on a forum
maybe in a closed group
and what actually it gets published
and read by people of different
ages and cultural backgrounds.
so with how the law currently
works in Russian, in Russia
if there any...
kind of...
dubious, shall we say
material in a book
It needs to be labeled
as 16 plus
so its basically for for sixteen and up of age
and books that contain
uh such for example
stuff as maybe obscene language
or maybe adult subjects
also need to be actually sold
in a wrapping
so you cannot like
say a teenager come into a bookstore
you cannot just
you know, finger through it.
and see obscenity right
yeah
um and well obscenity
and the basically
illegal subjects are defined
very broadly in Russia unfortunately
