college graduation is about so much more than a piece of paper it is a time of

transition a celebration of success and a time to reflect on the individuals

that contributed to your success your mentors peers professors friends and

family but what about the people that kept you safe what's the difference

between campus police and traditional police

although training procedures differ from school to school and state to state it's

important to understand that campus police training may not focus on certain

kinds of policing such as traffic stops as much as traditional police forces

campus police training may also emphasize cultural diversity and

sensitivity more than traditional police if campus police are unsworn or unarmed

they may receive more training on non-lethal force procedures or

write a lot of police reports the goal is prevention by dealing with kids doing

presentations in classrooms doing crime prevention site surveys and assessments

on campus the goal of campus security and police is to reduce or eliminate

crime not sit back and wait to catch kids doing bad things

in many cases officers have a decision to make whether they arrest someone or
