7 Must-Sees in SAMUI, Thailand - Duration: 11:04.

If you have only a few days, do you know where are the places you must visit on Samui island?

Welcome to the Big Buddha Temple on Koh Samui (Samui Island)?

This temple, for local people, we call it 'Wat Phra Yai', literally means the Giant Buddha, in front of me here.

It's a golden Buddha which is 12-metre high.

The temple is located on a little island called 'Koh Fan',

which is a small island connected to the main island of Samui.

And, it is not very far from the International Airport, just about 3 kilometres.

So, a lot of times, you'll see airplanes flying just over of the temple.

The temple is free of charge for both local and international travellers.

So, you can just come here any day.

But, you have to climb about 75 steps to reach the Big Buddha.

Phra Kru Santi Nondhakun later developed and decorated this area in 1970

by providing the monasteries and dhamma practice places on the island.

There are some tips about entering religious places in Thailand such as this temple.

Please wear appropriately.

Don't wear clothes like these or something that's too revealing.

But if you come here and then you wear shorts or sleeveless T-Shirt,

there are some clothes like scarf, ropes, and towels for rent free of charge for you.

So, you just cover yourself with these.

You shouldn't miss coming here, Lad Koh Viewpoint.

There are so many viewpoints on Samui island, but this is a large one.

And, it's open to public every day.

There's also a parking space for both locals and tourists.

From here, you can see the vast area of the sea, the beautiful sea water of the Gulf of Thailand.

And, there is Chaweng Beach, which is nearby.

The highlight of this place is this walking promenade.

You can take your friends and families here and enjoy walking around the area.

Let's go downhill.

It's so chilling around here. It's highly recommended for you to come.

Sometimes, there's a saying that says we don't need anything else if we're by the sea.

And, I think now I don't need anything.

Just enjoy the moment.

Welcome to Hinta Hinyai.

Hinta Hinyai is definitely a Must-See here in Samui.

It is a natural wonde discovered by locals many years ago.

This location is situated between Lamai and Hua Thanon, which is quite quiet,

compared to a popular place like 'Chaweng'.

'Hinta' literally means Grandpa's Rock. 'Hinyai' is Grandma's Rock.

But, do you wonder where the names are from?

Let's see together!

Let's go take a walk around.

There're not many people today. It's a weekday.

So, it's recommended to come during weekdays.

Now, one of the Must-See places in Moo Koh Angthong or Angthong National Marine Park

is this big Lagoon or Emerald Lagoon. In Thai, we call 'Thalae Nai' or 'Mae Koh Island'.

Here, this is the map that we're going to explore today.

We're going to walk from here, the entrance, to the viewpoint.

And then, the lagoon is here.

Then we're going back this way.

So, it only takes about 20-30 mins.

OK. Let's go!

You have to be careful because the stairs are quite steep.

Here, you can witness the nature as well.

There're some wild animals - wild birds such as White Bellied Sea Eagle,

Oriental Pied Hornbill, or White-rumped Shama.

And there're also wild plants like 'Angthong Lady's Slipper' and many others.

Wow!

It's quite calm in here. This is the inner part of Koh Mae Koh.

The view is magnificent.

You can see the colour of the sea water. It's emerald.

So, it's the Emerald Big Lagoon.

But swimming or jumping into the sea water is not allowed.

'Wua Ta Lub Island' is where Angthong National Park office is located.

There're beautiful views that travellers should not miss.

The route up to 'Pha Jun Jaras Viewpoint', the most beautiful viewpoint of Surat Thani Sea is quite challenging

as the walk includes a 500-meter climb up a limestone cliff.

When you climb up the mountain, please use the rope provided because the route up is very steep and dangerous.

At the peek, you can see the view from the wooden porch.

Many of the islands in the North of 'Wua Ta Lub Island' can be seen from here.

And finally, I've made it to the top of Koh Wua Ta Lub.

And, the view here, you can see... it's breathtaking.

It's really worth climbing here.

Welcome to Chaweng Beach. This is the most famous beach on Samui Island.

It's located not very far from the airport.

And, the reason it became famous is because of the white sandy beach.

You can see along this shoreline of about a few kilometres, there are plenty of accommodations.

A lot of hotels and restaurants of a large variety. From 3-5 star hotels.

From Chain Hotels to Boutique Hotels.

And there're also sophisticated cocktail bars that you can come and enjoy the scenery in the evening

and sip some drinks.

Also, there is a good zoning area that you can come play jet-ski or other kinds of watersports.

After checking in, if you come here early, there's a great way to spend your time

because there is a long shopping street or shopping arcade with a lot of shops, restaurants, cafes,

to enjoy your time before departing.

If you feel tired, you can come here for massage as well, before your flight departure.

Actually, you can just come here to the shopping arcade before or after you check in. It's alright.

Or even if you don't have a flight, you can just invite your friends and families to come here,

in the airport...in the shopping area to enjoy food, like ice cream, coffee.

There's a nice cafe here too.

And, don't forget that you have these big screens along the street, that you can check your departure time.

So, don't worry that you'll miss your flight.

Alright, now I think it's time for a cup of coffee.

Wow! The price of the drink is the same as shops in Bangkok.

Not as expensive as some other airports.

Wow!! This is not an aquarium. It's the restroom.

Wow...(laugh).

There're still more stories about Samui. Stay tuned for the next episodes.

How Does A Planet Die? - Duration: 4:23.

Hey there and welcome to Life Noggin.

In the life of a planet, there are /many/ things that could go wrong.

Two planets could collide with one another, it could be struck by a damaging asteroid,

and eventually, its host star will die.

But there's also some other ways that a planet could basically shut down and take

a turn for the worse.

And to see how, all we have to do is examine our own planet and our red neighbor, Mars.

Let's start over there!

Before we get into the terrifying idea of planetary death, and believe me, you'll want

to stick around for it, I want to take a moment to thank our sponsor Best Fiends Forever,

which is the second game in the Best Fiends trilogy.

Not only did they help make this video possible, but I think the game is crazy fun.

In it, you can slap some nasty slugs, collect some coins, and level up while trying to get

as fast and far as you can!

The new Ice Queen event is happening on February 3rd, and you can unlock rare rewards that

will only be available for two weeks!

Download the game for free, and get going!

Ok, let's get back to destroying planets.

Nowadays, Mars is a cold, dry, and dusty planet with temperatures averaging around -63 degrees

Celsius.

But it wasn't always like that.

In fact, billions of years ago, it's thought that Mars had rivers and lakes and potentially

even oceans.

It was warmer back then too and had a much thicker atmosphere than it has today.

But what caused that change?

Well, for that we can blame the Sun, specifically, its solar winds and solar storms, like coronal

mass ejections.

See, more than 3.5 billion years ago, when Mars lost its magnetic field and the Sun was

more active, the solar wind and storms stripped it of its atmosphere, and now, it's remaining

atmosphere is just a measly 1% of Earth's.

A recent study by NASA found that solar wind alone causes around 100 grams of gas to be

lost to space every second.

So, if you're looking for your next interplanetary travel destination, you might want to choose

somewhere else instead -- especially since the Earth's future isn't looking too great

right now.

And for that, we have global warming to blame.

By now, you all probably know that the average global temperature has increased by about

0.8 degrees Celsius since 1880.

And the main cause of this is the human addition of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

The increasing temperatures have led to ice melting worldwide, especially the Arctic sea

ice, which is home to animals like walruses and polar bears.

They use the sea ice for hunting and traveling and any changes to it can dramatically affect

their lives.

Also, as the climate warms, hurricanes will continue to get stronger and more intense,

sea levels will rise potentially over one meter by 2100, and ocean acidification will

have devastating effects on marine life.

But on top of all that, a major ocean current may be in serious danger.

A recent study found that, if atmospheric carbon dioxide levels were to double in the

future, the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation will weaken and eventually collapse

after 300 years.

Without this large oceanic conveyor belt, the northern Atlantic and Arctic will get

cooler, areas south of the equator will get warmer, precipitation patterns will change,

and there will be a greater reduction in Antarctic sea ice.

The Earth is looking less and less appealing the more I go on, isn't it?

That's why it's so important to start taking care of it now so that some of this

stuff can be prevented.

The very least we can do is try to keep this planet in as best shape as possible until

the Sun eventually turns into a red giant, incinerating the inner planets and turning

Earth from a watery wonderland into a scorched wasteland.

And even though this won't happen for several billion years, life on Earth won't be possible

after only one billion more as the Sun's increasing luminosity boils all the water

away.

I'm just the bearer of bad news today, aren't I?

Well, on the plus side, until that happens, we have the Internet -- and I definitely couldn't

live without that.

Let me know what we should talk about next in the comments section below.

The Real Reason Hollywood Dumped Brendan Fraser - Duration: 6:58.

At the turn of the millennium, Brendan Fraser seemed to be everywhere.

He was headlining goofy kids adventure comedies, leading up a mainstream franchise, and nabbing

roles in critically favorable films.

When you put it all together, Fraser has one of the most impressive bodies of work in Hollywood,

from his critically acclaimed roles in School Ties and Gods and Monsters, running all the

way through megahits like The Mummy and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Simply put, we love Brendan Fraser.

Over the past few years, though, his star power has become significantly duller, leading

many to wonder: Why is Hollywood giving Brendan Fraser the cold shoulder these days?

Here's a look at some reasons this once-busy actor has been so absent from the screen scene

lately.

Facing the flops

Fraser's bankability as a big name was called into question pretty early on in his rise

to fame.

While the actor enjoyed some commercial successes, like George of the Jungle and The Mummy, he

also suffered some serious stinkers at the same time, like Blast from the Past and Dudley

Do-Right, both of which had critics laughing for all the wrong reasons — and certainly

didn't draw much audience interest.

The Mummy Returns gave him a much-needed momentum swing back in the right direction, and he

went on to nab a role in the critically-favored Crash before jumping into another action-adventure

realm in Journey to the Center of the Earth.

But after that, his inability to drum up an audience really started coming to light.

"Um...kay."

Fraser fatigue

Fraser's appeal as the lovable doofus in George of the Jungle didn't quite translate to other

franchise hopeful films.

Not only did Dudley Do-Right do wrong, but Monkeybone was a total non-starter.

Perhaps most tellingly, his attempt to lead a live-action take on the Looney Tunes animated

world sputtered out with a lackluster reception.

Fraser gave the goofball game that had made him a name one more go with Furry Vengeance,

but that movie was a disaster on all fronts.

It solidified the fact that Fraser's silly screen demeanor just wasn't getting kids to

their ticket booths anymore.

Burying The Mummy

While the first Mummy sequel came along pretty quickly after the original installment and

successfully capitalized on the excavation adventure craze, the third movie was slow

going, despite the successes of the first two films.

So, by the time The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor rolled along, audiences were over

it, having moved onto alternatives like Nicolas Cage's National Treasure movies and even the

franchise spin-off, The Scorpion King.

The Mummy 3 didn't exactly bomb, but its domestic receipts were less than either of its predecessors,

and led to the franchise being left to decay until Fraser was replaced by none other than

Tom Cruise for the 2017 reboot.

Killing a comeback

Once The Mummy franchise was clearly dead, Fraser had a real chance at following his

Journey to the Center of the Earth success into a new franchise.

But he held out on signing for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island out of loyalty to the

first installment's director.

Rather than waiting on either party, the studio just replaced the director and brought in

The Rock to take Fraser's place.

The sequel did just fine without them, with several sequels expected to follow.

Ouch.

"I trust you master,"

"Good!"

"Ow!"

The joke was on him

Celebs becoming part of the meme machine can help their popularity.

But for Fraser, his internet infamy was more of the awkward and unsettling variety than

endearing.

At the 2010 Golden Globes, he was captured in a moment of exuberance that was so unusually

enthusiastic it spawned a new meme category all its own:

"Few times I been around that track so it's not just gonna have been like that, cause

I ain't no hollaback girl."

To many, the memes proved that Fraser was funnier by accident than on purpose in his

movies.

Yikes.

Personal setbacks

When the getting is good, there's no business like show business.

But having such impressive tax returns in the archive can leave an actor paying through

the nose for their former glory during a divorce, even after the opportunities dry up.

Fraser and his ex-wife Afton Smith, whom he met in 1993 and had three sons with, announced

their divorce in 2007 after nine years of marriage.

They reached a settlement for her alimony and child support award in 2009.

However, the situation turned publicly ugly between them in 2013 when, as his career momentum

slowed, Fraser petitioned for a reduction of his reported $900,000 a year payment schedule.

His ex claimed he'd hidden funds and future film deals at the time of their 2009 settlement,

but he reasoned that he expected to make no money whatsoever — as in zero dollars — in

the future and would be relying on the assets he'd earned prior to the petition for payments,

due to unspecific medical issues which "considerabl[y]" affected his workflow.

Insult to injury

According to some sources, the setback Fraser was referring to in his reduction petition

was a back injury he sustained while attempting to clear away yard debris from Hurricane Sandy

with a chainsaw.

His injury reportedly even required corrective surgery and intense physical therapy rehabilitation

and may prevent him from being able to do his own stunt work, as he had in prior productions,

which would support his claim that medical concerns would limit his future earning potential.

Sad Fraser is sad

In December 2016, Fraser reemerged to discuss his guest role in Showtime's The Affair, and

the appearance went viral...for all the wrong reasons.

Viewers of the segment remarked at how melancholy the actor appeared during his discussion of

the series and his career at large, especially when the subject of wanting to avoid being

typecast as the goofy accidental hero came up.

If there was any lingering doubt that Fraser's slew of setbacks were taking a toll on the

actor, this was proof.

Crowd comes calling

Some Fraser fans responded to the sad viral video by organizing a Change.org petition

addressed to major networks to encourage them to cast him.

Thousands of signatures flowed in for the plea, which begged the channels to "help get

Brendan back on his feet again," and the petition also cried foul on Fraser not being asked

back for any role in the Mummy reboot.

Earlier the same year, Reddit users had devised a plan to hit social media with demands that

Fraser make it into more roles, particularly on the small screen.

After so many misses on the silver screen, maybe the small screen would be a good fit

for Fraser.

"I'll do it.

Don't think I wont!"

Time for a turnaround

Momentum means a lot in Tinseltown, especially when it comes to a good comeback story.

In Fraser's case, there's some reason to believe that he may land on his feet again.

With The Affair offering him an all-new sort of screen personality, and the Fraser-free

Mummy reboot drumming up some nostalgia for his role in launching the franchise in the

first place, there's a chance his next role could mark a step in a new turnaround trend.

17 Brilliant Movies Of 2016 You Totally Missed - Duration: 10:47.

The year 2016 gave moviegoers so many great blockbusters that even the most ardent film

fan could be forgiven for missing out on a few of the better offerings that flew under

the radar.

Here's a look back at some of best movies released in 2016 that you haven't seen.

Paterson

Before breaking big as Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Adam Driver got his start

in indie films.

Despite his box office success, Driver hasn't forgotten his roots.

He put in an acclaimed effort in this Jim Jarmusch drama, which focuses on a bus driver

and his wife as they navigate the interesting simplicity of their daily lives.

It shows the contrast of how each life is different, while simultaneously reminding

us how they can weave together through relationships.

Critics have praised the small scale of the film and how it relishes in simple, everyday

moments.

Midnight Special

If you couldn't get enough Adam Driver in your life, here's some more.

Midnight Special is the story of a father racing against time to protect his son from

outside forces bent on taking advantage of his seemingly superhuman abilities.

It's far from the biggest box-office draw of the year.

But for anyone who's ever felt the weight of being a parent, Midnight Special proved

director Jeff Nichols could graduate from the indie ranks to the studio system without

losing a single step.

Hell or High Water

If you only know Chris Pine from Star Trek, Hell or High Water serves as a reminder of

just how much range the young version of Kirk actually has when given a meatier role.

This modern Western drama focuses on a pair of bank robbers being tracked by a Texas Ranger,

played by The Dude himself, Jeff Bridges.

Touted by critics as one of the best films of the year, Hell or High Water rises on the

strength of an excellent cast, subverts all the old genre clichés, and packs an emotional

sting in its closing act.

Train to Busan

You've heard of snakes on a plane…

"I've had it with these monkey-fighting snakes on this Monday to Friday plane!"

...but how about zombies on a train?

This South Korean zombie flick from Yeon Sang-ho takes that pitch and runs with it, creating

a white-knuckle thriller and political allegory tied up in one exceptionally terrifying package.

Much like George Romero used the undead as a symbol for consumerism a few decades ago,

Sang-ho tackles some social commentary of his own.

Critics have praised Train to Busan for its simple setup and deft execution, and it was

so good Hollywood is cooking up a U.S. remake right now.

And if you like your horror a little more demon-y...

The Witch

It's easy to find a horror movie offering up a few jump scares or some slasher gore,

but it's trickier to find one with enough faith in its audience to take things slow

or get a little weird.

That's That's what genre fans got with The Witch, a movie that announces writer/director

Robert Eggers as a filmmaker worth watching.

The story follows a path through a spooky thicket of woods in 17th-century New England,

which should be more or less familiar to anyone who's ever indulged in period horror.

But it's Eggers' execution that makes The Witch so creepily compelling.

And his flair for imagery will leave it lingering in your mind for days.

Moonlight

This one has landed on just about every "Best Of" list out there, and for good reason.

Director Barry Jenkins has assembled a fantastic cast to tell the story of one man's journey

through life as he discovers himself — from childhood all the way through adulthood.

It's ambitious and intimate, tracing a tale of sexual discovery and race unlike virtually

anything else at the box office.

The cast does an amazing job of bringing an unforgettable story to life.

Elstree 1976

If you're a fan of the original Star Wars trilogy, this is an absolute must-see.

Elstree 1976 is a deep dive into the underbelly of a galaxy far, far away.

Instead of telling the stories that have all been told a thousand times, this semi-documentary

tracks the actors in those alien suits, and some folks who saw their entire appearances

end up on the cutting room floor.

They might've taken on the tiniest of roles, but this franchise continues to affect their

lives decades later.

Except for Jek Porkins.

That guy's long gone.

(RIP Porkins)

The Invitation

A slow-burning mystery thriller that doubles as an appealingly nasty dig into the emotional

fallout from a tragic divorce, The Invitation has Jennifer's Body director Karyn Kusama

making a return to feature filmmaking after a few years in the TV trenches.

Unfolding at a party thrown by the ex-wife and new husband of a man who's starting over

with a new relationship, the story starts with a simmering stew of potentially toxic

ingredients and spends the next 100 minutes expertly ramping up the tension.

So, basically Thanksgiving dinner with your family, but with more sex and less mashed

potatoes.

Swiss Army Man

It's Daniel Radcliffe's most interesting role yet: a corpse.

This quirky dramedy focuses on a shipwrecked man, played by Paul Dano, who befriends Radcliffe's

dead, farting body and takes him on an epic adventure.

And that's only the beginning.

The film is probably one of the weirdest you'll see this year, but it's worth the chance.

It has a ton of heart, and about every bit of humor you can mine from a man hanging out

with a flatulent body.

Critics have called Swiss Army Man everything from whimsical to deliriously fun, and it's

almost an R-rated fairy tale…with fart jokes.

(10 points to Gryffindor)

Kubo and the Two Strings

This stop-motion fantasy adventure sadly got lost in the shuffle between Zootopia and Finding

Dory, but it's still definitely among the best animated films of the year.

The story follows a young boy whose quiet life is thrown upside down when he's caught

up in a battle that sets him off on an epic adventure.

Joined by his magical companions Monkey and Beetle — voiced by Oscar winners Charlize

Theron and Matthew McConaughey — Kubo sets out to unravel the mysteries of his family

history while carving out his own life.

The visuals are stunning, and the story weaves together in a way that will have you laughing

one minute and sobbing the next.

The Edge of Seventeen

This hilarious, touching, and at times biting coming of age story focuses on a high school

junior whose life is turned upside down when her best friend starts dating her brother.

The story weaves between her own love life and those around her.

The talent is top notch, and the script is whip smart.

This is the teen movie you probably missed, but should absolutely see.

If that's not enough, it also features Woody Harrelson as a sage teacher dispensing some

hilarious life advice along the way.

"As some of you know I have 32 fleeting minutes of happiness during lunch, which has been

eaten up again and again by the same, especially badly-dressed student."

The Lobster

This one proved a hit on the festival circuit, and it certainly gets points for having one

of the most original premises of the year.

The story follows David, played by Colin Farrell, who's dumped by his wife.

If that wasn't sad enough, he lives in a world where you're turned into an animal of your

choosing if you don't find a new love in 45 days.

After deciding to throw in with a rebel faction, David embarks on an unorthodox romance.

Director Yorgos Lanthimos uses the format as a way to poke fun at our societal norms

while telling a truly compelling story along the way.

And you can never lose with a co-star like John C. Reilly.

"You're like a brother to me.

You're my best friend in the whole world."

"I don't think I'm your best friend in the whole world..."

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

"When they ask who did this, tell them it was the Wilderpeople."

"The what-er-people?"

This charmingly offbeat Sundance selection focuses on a young boy starting a new life

with his foster family in New Zealand.

With his new life in the balance, young Ricky goes on the run with his new, reluctant Uncle

Hec in the New Zealand wilderness.

As many reviewers have noted, the film is basically a quirky Pixar movie brought to

life, telling a sweet story that can appeal to the entire family.

Think Up, without so many balloons.

The film was a hit in New Zealand, but is more than deserving of a global audience.

And in case you didn't know, the director, Taika Waititi, also helmed Thor: Ragnarok.

Marvel fans should definitely check this film out.

Jackie

We all know the story of John F. Kennedy, but it's a story that's almost never been

told through the eyes of his wife.

The film casts Natalie Portman as Jackie Kennedy, and traces the immediate aftermath of JFK's

assassination and the grueling work she did to hold the country together and preserve

their legacy.

It's a fascinating angle for a story, shining a light on a strong woman who's too often

overshadowed.

Critics have touted the film as a fresh window into a pivotal moment in American history,

and Portman's performance has earned her some of the best reviews of her career.

The fact that Portman has recovered from Star Wars or Garden State at all is a pretty huge

feat.

Sing Street

If you're looking for a feel-good movie, Sing Street certainly fits the bill.

Directed by John Carney, this semi-musical tells the story of a 14-year-old boy in Dublin

who tries to woo a mysterious girl by telling her she can star in his band's music videos.

He just, you know, doesn't actually have a band.

From there, it's a love letter to anyone who ever sank into a good record or learned to

play guitar to strum their favorite song.

Sing Street is a story about the power of music itself and how it can change the world

for the better.

And the soundtrack isn't half bad, either.

Manchester by the Sea

Kenneth Lonergan's latest project is the story of an emotionally stunted man who returns

to his hometown to raise his 16-year-old nephew.

Critics have raved about the performances of stars Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams,

Kyle Chandler and Gretchen Mol — and for good reason.

It uses a simple setup to tackle complex themes, delving into crippling grief while dissecting

everything from the meaning of family to how those left behind deal with death.

Green Room

While Green Room falls a little off the beaten path, it's still well worth checking out for

anyone who likes their action movies to have a sharp set of teeth — or anyone who enjoyed

Blue Ruin, writer-director Jeremy Saulnier's 2014 debut.

This time out, viewers are plunged into the hellish ordeal experienced by a punk band

who attract the bloodthirsty ire of a pack of murderous neo-Nazis.

Did we mention that Patrick Stewart is the homicidal owner of the club where the band

is trapped?

Yes, this Patrick Stewart.

"M, N, O, P, I could go on all day, Q...

Q?"

Terrifying.

Green Room is equal parts smart and nasty—and one of the more sinfully enjoyable indie efforts
