7 New Champions CONFIRMED For Reworks! - League of Legends - Duration: 12:47.

What's up guys it's me Jeremy!

Riot are constantly combing the champion roster trying to figure out which outdated picks

are in the most serious need of updates, and despite the fact that Riot has been reworking

champions at a crazy rate, there's still a lot of champions out there that have yet

to receive any changes, even though they definitely need it.

Today we're looking at 7 new champions that have been confirmed for reworks, along with

the sizes of those reworks and what we might be able to expect from them.

Almost two years ago, Riot made a music video for a much loved champion who has been around

since the start of the game - Amumu.

Despite it being really well received and actually building up a lot of hype for Amumu,

he's still in a pretty poor shape in terms of his gameplay, which is pretty surprising

as a lot of people expected some kind of rework after that video went live.

Unlike a lot of other champions, whether they had full dedicated gameplay updates or just

tweaks in roster updates, Amumu doesn't really have a health issue in the game.

He's tanky, he can deal a good amount of magic damage and is reasonably easy to learn

to jungle with and packs enough CC to make a good impact on the game.

Sometimes he can go out of balance if the game is favoring tanky initiators too much,

but for the most part his kit is really simple and doesn't cause many issues - the counterplay

is pretty fair.

The issue with Amumu is that he can be super boring to play, and often times his gameplay

is really straight forward and repetitive.

Amumu has finally been confirmed for a rework by Riot - we don't know whether it's a

large scale update to his gameplay and art, or if it's just a mini-rework looking to

make his kit a bit better, but we figure that the goal will definitely be to make him a

bit more interesting to play, since he's a pretty well loved figure and should be relatively

easy to modernize!

The next champion confirmed for a rework is Fiddlesticks, another super old champion that

has received a few tweaks over the years but no proper rework to bring him up to date.

For a lot of people, Fiddlesticks was THE beginner jungle champion, thanks to his Drain

ability that makes staying alive while clearing a breeze.

He's pretty iconic in terms of his play style and appearance, and although he's

definitely stood the test of time, like Amumu he could also use a bit of a gameplay update

to make him a bit less linear and give him more interesting decisions to make in game.

Right now, Fiddlesticks is basically all about pressing E then W, and that's pretty much

all there is to his clear and early game fights.

Once you unlock his Ultimate, you get the chance to make more interesting and even game-changing

plays, but he's seriously repetitive and every single game is basically about farming

for the first 10 minutes and then start ulting every lane when you can.

The biggest thing that can affect Fiddle's gameplay is being invaded - if the enemy jungler

has a strong early duellist and good knowledge of how to sneak up on Fiddle, there's basically

not much you can do about it and you'll likely just end up dead and losing a ton of

pressure on the map.

Rework wise, we'd expect his Drain and Crowstorm to stick around, but for the rest of his kit

he could really use some more strategic tools that would introduce some diversity to the

games you play with Fiddle, or maybe give him a fighting chance in an early 1v1 to make

up for the fact that his early ganks are pretty awful.

Nocturne is next up, and he continues our current theme of old champions with kits that

are pretty basic to the point of being boring compared to newer releases.

Nocturne is a bit of a special case compared to Amumu and Fiddle, because unlike the others

he does have at least some level of interactivity built into his kit.

With Amumu, you press Q and then throw some tantrums.

With Fiddlesticks, you land a fear or Dark Wind and then just sit and Drain.

When it comes to Nocturne however, although the core of his gameplay might be to gap closer

with Q and then lockdown with the fear, you also have a spell shield that requires you

to spend at least a little bit of time predicting abilities that you want to block and actually

playing around what your enemies are doing.

It's not a huge amount of variance to the champion, but it's enough to make him a

slightly lower priority than the other two.

The other big reason Nocturne is due a rework is because he takes up a lot of awesome design

space as a living nightmare, and he's not really terrifying enough to deliver on that

archetype.

Potential of archetype is a big target for Riot currently, like Warwick's werewolf

archetype for example, so we'd expect to see something epic for Nocturne just because

it's such a cool concept that Riot could do some pretty interesting stuff with it.

The fourth champion confirmed for a rework is Tryndamere, and that sounds like it would

be a really interesting one for Riot to tackle.

Tryndamere is pretty iconic in League of Legends as he is one of the most well-known of the

original champion roster, but despite his relatively simple kit - a lot of players are

really fond of how Tryndamere currently plays.

He's one of those top laners that doesn't ever need to worry about grouping up with

his team, in fact he's better off just duelling all game and then forcing the enemy team to

answer his relentless split-push tactics.

Meddler and Reav3 both offered a little bit of context for what Riot would probably focus

on for Tryndamere, which is that they would like to make him less dependant on split pushing

and able to at least contribute a little to a team fight.

Right now the fact that all he can do is split push makes him seriously linear, but if his

kit had a way to allow him to be effective in a team fight, he'd probably be much better

received and more fun to play overall.

Teemo is a champion that has been able to avoid the need for a VGU mostly because of

the fact that he receives a lot of high quality skins from Riot, but he's definitely on

the list for a VGU eventually.

Unfortunately for Teemo mains, that's probably a long time ago because there are just so

many champions that need a VGU more urgently - actually that could be a good thing for

Teemo mains if you are a huge fan of how he plays, because a VGU would likely change that

quite considerably, or at least that's been the case so far.

Riot has actually gone on record before and mentioned that some upcoming VGUs might not

really change gameplay all that much, since VGU essentially just means that Riot want

to clean up a champion to the standard to which they develop new champions, and that

could be something that applies to Teemo.

His gameplay could be considered linear, but not every AS-based champion is simple and

Teemo has a lot of hidden complexity thanks to his attack spacing and the amount of importance

you have to put on positioning, so a Teemo VGU might have more of a focus on updating

art assets and lore.

The last two champions that are confirmed for reworks are actually a bit of a special

case, as they would most likely be reworked together.

We're talking about Kayle and Morgana, who are tied together in the lore in a similar

kind of way to Diana and Leona.

It's slightly different though, with Kayle and Morgana being sisters and on opposite

sides in a conflict between an immortal race of winged beings.

Both champions are pretty outdated, but they've aged pretty well in terms of gameplay and

are still pretty relevant today.

Morgana was confirmed to be the most likely to receive gameplay changes, but both would

be great targets for Riot to deliver better on the angel or fallen angel archetypes.

Kayle's gameplay seems more simple on paper, but as we mentioned earlier there's a lot

of decision making and positioning involved in making the most out of an AS-based champion,

so she's actually more flexible than you'd originally think just looking at her kit on

paper.

Morgana on the other hand is a lot more linear - you save allies with your shield, land binds

to assist with kills, and occasionally go for a clutch play with her Ultimate.

Overall it could be a bit more interactive, and a lot of frustration could be taken away

from playing against Morgana if Riot shuffled around her power a bit to make it less about

landing Qs.

Either way, the focus for a Morgana or Kayle rework would probably be on the artistic side

- so we'd get skin, splash and in-game model updates to just make both of them look more

epic, and also new, updated lore to fully flesh out their backgrounds and properly explain

about their race and the conflict they are fighting in.

It's not necessarily VGUs for all of these champions - they could also just be receiving

mini-reworks, at least to buy time, and will be lined up for full gameplay updates down

the line when the more urgent champions are out of the way.

Although these were the 7 champions we wanted to let you know were officially confirmed,

technically three others had been confirmed a while back.

Those are Dr Mundo, Corki and Cho'Gath, and we've talked about them in a previous

video so we didn't want to go too much in depth on them - maybe once Riot releases more

information about what we can expect from those reworks.

Anyway that just about wraps up today's video on the new champions that have been

officially confirmed to be getting some kind of rework in the future - they are all good

candidates for VGUs, but given the time it takes to put out that scale of rework it's

likely that Riot will figure out some smaller changes to make in the meantime to make sure

these champions stay relevant until they can be fully revitalised!
