Video: England fans celebrate World Cup penalty shoot-out win against Colombia - Duration: 3:17.

Colombia 1 England 1 (England win 4-3 on penalties) England are through to the World Cup quarter-finals after finally breaking their penalty hoodoo with a shoot-out victory against Colombia

   Harry Kane opened the scoring for England with a spot-kick after 57 minutes and it looked like the Three Lions would progress in normal time

 But on 93 minutes Yerry Mina headed home to force extra-time and send the Colombian into raptures at the Spartak Stadium

 Colombian were the strongest side in extra-time but neither they or England could not force a winner so the game went to penalties

 England, who had not won a major tournament shoot-out for 20 years, may have thought it would be misery again when Jordan Henderson missed from the spot

But Mateus Uribe hit the crossbar with his spot-kick and England keeper Jordan Pickford superbly saved from Carlos Bacca

   This meant Eric Dier had to step up for the vital kick and he slotted home to secure England's first ever World Cup shoot-out victory

 After the win England hero Pickford said: "I did all my research. I've got power and agility

I don't care if I'm not the biggest keeper because it's about being there in the moment and making the save and I was

 "It's all about the set position and I got a hand to it. We knew we had this game, even if it had to go to penalties, we knew we were capable of winning

" Dier, who scored the winning penalty, added: "It was a nervous one. I've never really been in a situation like that before but felt I had to score after missing the header at the end so I'm just thankful I scored!" England will now face Sweden in the quarter-finals on Saturday (3pm UK time)
