Should you use facecam and audio for your livestream and videos?

That's what we talk about in this video.

In this tutorial playlist on StorySpotlight it's all about how you can build your youtube

channel, how you can create great live streams and how you can tell your awesome story on

youtube or wherever you want.

In my last video where I explained the basic settings for OBS live streaming and recording.

Check that one out right here.

Game_Guech asked me a question.

He said, can I ask you one question?

Can I go stream or recording without using microphone or headphone?

Is it good or bad?

Now that's a question that comes up very often when you start out fresh.

Should you use facecam?

Should you use your voice on the video.

Now, my answer to this - I have 3 years of experience with live streams and recording

and I tried everything.

I made the whole process myself.

So, what I say to this.

Technically you can stream without a facecam or without audio.

On the long run I would not recommend it.

First of all, start out with whatever feels comfortable for you.

If you're very uncomfortable with audio or very uncomfortable with the facecam.

Don't start with that one.

But only start with what really feels comfortable to you.

Let's talk about live streaming and recording videos because there may be a small difference

in that.

From a live viewer perspective.

They try to connect with you as a streamer.

And it's way easier to connect with you as a streamer when there is audio and it's even

more connection when there is a facecam.

Because then people really feel like they are together with you.

And it was a huge change for me once I started using the facecam.

But I would never go back to streaming without a facecam.

So as I said, on the long run, I really recommend using the facecam.

Now, I started out with just video.

I did a clash of clans live stream with only video in it.

And I chatted with the people and I was actually very surprised when there were two people

watching that livestream.

And I chatted with them in the chat.

And the main reason I noticed then is that the chat was not in sync with the video after

the fact.

And that annoyed me.

And so I started using the microphone.

Now there is things about the microphone.

The quality has to be good.

Because if the microphone is too quite too loud or very noisy and people can't hear you.

It's a horrible experience for the viewers and they switch off immediately.

What you see here is of course my big town hall 10.

But today the stream is not about that town hall.

It's about farming.

So really make sure your audio is on point if you use the microphone.

And I made all those experiences myself.

I had bad audio, I fought with audio that didn't work, that had noise in it and stuff.

I did all that process.

And it's normal.

Don't worry.

Improve step by step.

That's really the main point here.

You have to improve.

Every stream you learn something new.

And you're going to improve.

I made the whole process, the bad audio, trying other microphones, and slowly improved my

audio.

Then one day, when I hit 1000 subscribers, I made a special stream with a face reveal

and that's when I started using the facecam.

There you go.

That's me.

The old guy on the facecam.

It was really a weird feeling at first.

I was used to just focus on the game, not really talking to the camera but just play

the game and talk at that time.

And it was really a change to try to look at the camera and talk to the viewers directly.

And play the game.

It's way more stress to do those things at the same time.

Look at the chat, look at the camera, look at the game. That's way more stress and you

have to get used to it.

So don't worry if you're not perfect at the start.

Also here, you're going to improve over time.

On doing you will improve over time.

Ever after I had the facecam on my livestreams and it's a huge difference.

I mean just watch some videos, some live streams yourself and you will notice that you immediately

connect more to the streamer when they use a facecam than if they don't.

So that certainly the way the evolution goes.

But don't rush it.

Take one step after another.

As I said, I only did facecam after I had reached 1000 subscribers.

The viewers will definitely connect more, the more they see you, the more they feel

you.

Now for video it's basically the same story.

But on video I think it's a little bit easier.

You can do videos with just the video material, just the game without audio, you can even

go without audio, even go without facecam if you have some background music that really

matches what's happening in the game.

And if it's not too boring you can go without.

Specially without facecam.

It's totally possible on video.

So I think you have a little bit more flexibility with video.

That is my opinion.

To go without a facecam.

Because there the content, the video material with nice background music maybe with audio

that works rather for itself.

It works a little bit better.

But in the end, on the long run if you take this serious the connection to your viewers,

to your audience will be bigger and better with audio and facecam.

Also here for video, for recorded videos though, don't rush it.

Take one step after another and try to continuously improve on what you're doing.

Once you start using facecam there is a common question coming up.

Should you frame your facecam or should you have no background and not frame your facecam.

And that also mainly depends on whether you have a green screen or not.

So again don't rush it.

green screens can be from cheap to very expensive.

And with green screens you can blend out your background and so you're basically part of

your overlay without a frame.

I would take this second step.

First it's usually okay to have a frame.

I always switch between with frame and without frame, because it's kind of cool to be in

the frame and show the background.

Or some other background if you have a green screen within the frame.

So that can be cool.

And once you're going like without a frame you can do that as well.

So that really also depends on what your options are.

If you have green screen available or not.

I think both is ok.

It's also ok to go just with a frame.

But then make sure that your background is not messy.

It's cleaned up.

Because I've seen live streams with really messy backgrounds.

And you don't want to be that guy with a really messy room showing up in the live stream.

Make sure it's cleaned up.

Go in a frame totally ok.

Later on when you feel comfortable and later on if you have a green screen it's totally

ok to wipe out the background with the green screen and put something in the background

you like or not have a background at all but the video you're in and go without a frame.

Both of those options really possible.

So to summarize this.

It's all step by step.

Take one step after another and you're going to be fine.

Just learn by doing.

It's really about that.

I had so many mistakes.

Everything that could go wrong went wrong.

Don't worry.

It will be ok.

Just keep doing it.

Keep practicing and you will be fine.

Safe Driving Video #19 from Rene C.- Houston Area DP - Duration: 0:52.

Hello Everyone. My name is Rene Campos and I'm a Houston area truck driver.

Today I want to talk to you about low clearance.

Before we talk about that...

Do you know the height of your truck?

Well Vans are about 8 feet tall.

Straight trucks are about 12 feet tall.

Trailers are about 14 feet tall.

Where can we see low clearance?

Customer Buildings, low hanging trees branches

and sometimes low bridges.

If we hit a low clearance object, it can be very costly to our company.

To avoid an accident, plan ahead. Be careful,

If new to the area, read warning signs,

don't take risks

If you're not sure, get out and look.

We are all professionals so let's drive like professionals.

Thank You very much for your time

and remember, DRIVE SAFE!
