My name is Che Yeun.

I'm a fiction writer from Seoul, Korea.

I'm working on my first collection of short stories.

I really really need it.

My time here at TAV.

Because I've been struggling for so long

to finish my first book.

I thought I would finish three years ago.

And three years ago,

the writing just stopped completely.

I wrote every day.

But I would look back on what I wrote.

And it was nothing that I wanted to keep.

So coming to TAV,

I thought at the very least,

if I produced nothing,

it will still be nothing created in the new environment.

So maybe it was a better nothing

than the nothing that I was writing before.

So I started writing stories inspired by what I was experiencing here.

It was very important for me to just walk around the city.

To not have a plan.

To let images and voices and smells find me.

I think the location is really wonderful.

I can just put on the jacket and go outside.

And I'm in the city.

That was very inspiring.

I also really enjoyed how beautiful the space was.

It really felt like a place that was created for art.

So that was very inspiring for me.

I've been working on two stories

that are kind of the accumulation of these experiences.

It's strange writing two stories together.

I dive from one to the other back and forth.

Even within the same hour I will switch back and forth.

I'm happy to say that I've had a wonderful time

just learning how to write again here.

Hi

I'm Simon Whetham.

I'm from the UK.

I'm a sound artist

and I'm currently in residency in Treasure Hill.

I've been working with sound and light or

have been working with sound leaving a trace recently

but I just actually wanted to use a space to

kind of use almost as an instrument

and I was shown the bomb shelter first of all

and I thought it was the perfect place.

And then as soon as I started trying out some ideas there

with some sounds I've collected in the area

and actually generating some sounds in there.

It just worked really well

so I made one quite loud piece in there

that kind of actually resonated the space

but then I also made a second piece

that I ended up collecting lots of water bottles

and I had these really nice recordings of the river from under the water

and I just decided to have this kind of little playful piece

that would play water sounds from water bottles

which actually came together really nicely

so it's hanging outside of my studio on these kind of security bars and

I can watch people go by and it really does stop people.

They really do stop and listen to it.

That's kind of nice.
