Cathy. What, what oh oops you guys think I sleep like after our

last concert of the season don't you I'm working really hard for the summer

concerts coming up we've got July 4th with fireworks at Atwood Stadium it's gonna

be awesome I heard there's gonna be dinosaurs there

because you know what we're doing stuff from all of the movies coming up that

we've seen so far like Jurassic Park and Star Wars and Harry Potter it's gonna be

so awesome then we're still working on our concerts

for next season its 30th year for Enrique did you know that did you know

that it's his 30th year with the FSO so we've got a lot of great music for that

and get tickets to any of our concerts everything's on sale already why I'm

even working on Nutcracker and Holiday Pops okay well just I'm just gonna take

Hi, I'm Davin Torre, Director of the Flint School of Performing Arts and it's a fantastic

up first we have our wonderful Festival of Dance and I'm here with Karen Jennings head

of the Dance division to tell us all about it I'm very excited about Festival of Dance

this year we're doing an exciting historical ballet called The Firebird to the amazing

music of Igor Stravinsky Firebird has something for everyone we have a mysterious beautiful

Firebird she has her own magical little butterflies there's a handsome prince there are beautiful

princesses there is an evil nasty sorcerer named Koschei and he has his monsters and

his ogre and his demons there's a battle and a beautiful wedding at the end so we hope you

can join us for Festival of Dance come and see the beautiful Firebird as well as our

other dance ensembles Festival of Dance is Saturday, May 5th, at 7:30pm and Sunday, May

6th, at 3 o'clock at the University of Michigan-Flint you can get tickets at theFIM.org

Roger Jones tell us about Jazz at MacArthur Hall

Jazz at MacArthur Hall is a concert series that

we have done here at Flint Institute of Music for several years now this year we are doing

a concert of original music we've gotten six wonderful musicians together and we will be

showcasing their compositional skills as well as their awesome playing abilities so this

is a wonderful opportunity for people to hear some original music and also just hear some

of the greatest musicians in the greater Detroit and Flint area this will be taking place at

the Flint Institute of Music here at the MacArthur Recital Hall on May 11th and that starts at

7pm and it is a free concert and we hope that everyone will come and enjoy a great night of music

what's more fun then playing an instrument? Playing an instrument in an ensemble of course

and its time to audition for one of our large ensembles The Flint Youth String Orchestra,

Flint Festival Youth Chorus, Flint Youth Philharmonia, Flint Youth Wind Ensemble or Flint Youth Symphony

those auditions take place Saturday, May 12th, and you can call for an audition time and

more information please join us and May is such a super busy month at the Flint School

of Performing Arts with more than 30 performances so be sure to check the website and the calendar

at theFSPA.org
