Does Chris Haslam CHEAT at Laser Flips? | Secret Pro Technique - Duration: 5:31.

Hey, I'm Rad Rat, and today we're talking about cheating.

When you think about cheating in skateboarding, you usually think about trying to pass off

a pressure flip as an inward heelflip in a game of SKATE…

But did you know there's a cheaters' version of the laser flip, and that Chris Haslam,

of all people, uses it?

Let's talk about the trick.

So what exactly is 'cheating' in skateboarding?

It's all art, right?

You can do whatever you want, even weird footplant stuff where you end up with both feet on the

ground.

You might not get a ton of respect, but it's not 'cheating'.

The gray area where it starts to get a little sketchy is when you pass something off as

something else.

Look at this 360 flip I did.

Wait, something is a little weird about that.

Take a closer look.

That's actually a 360 underflip, which is incredibly easy.

If you can do that with 360 flips, what about laser flips?

There actually is a way to underflip a laser.

You hang your heel off the tail, and tilt your heel out as you scoop, which gets under

the side of the deck and flips it.

It feels a lot different from a laser to me, because you don't pop as much, and you pull

up on the board.

It's definitely a separate trick from a laser.

I went out to film a couple nollie ones for the video, but I ended up hurting my knee

badly enough that I haven't been able to skate in a few months.

It's actually been hurt for years, I just pushed it too far.

This trick, in itself, is not cheating.

It's actually called a kiwi flip.

The kiwi flip was invented by Aymeric Nocus, a French skater.

I was able to chat with him for a bit to get the story on the kiwi flip, and all the crazy

variations that he does.

I remember him posting footage of stuff like gazelles and even a nollie 720 gazelle flip,

which he called a bregrafenisondernemer flip.

Unfortunately, he told me that he deleted his old YouTube account that had all that

stuff on it, and his hard drive crashed.

So it's going to be tough to show you some of this stuff, but I'll see what I can find.

So here's his story.

He was working on nollie varial heeflips, and missed the flip.

The board came around and hit his heel and did an underflip.

Now I had the same thing happen before with a regular stance one.

It looks like this.

He says, "I started trying it on purpose but it was more of a joke trick to me if anything,

it looked kind of dumb but it was fun to do every once in a while to experiment with."

And as a joke trick, he gave it a joke name, the kiwi flip.

Although, he says, "in retrospect this one kind of makes sense because the scooping motion

of the popping foot really resembles the gesture of digging into an actual kiwi with a spoon."

Later, he started learning nollie and switch laser flips and bigspin heels.

But, he says, "the back foot would always insist on getting in the way and kind of guiding

the board around for its motion."

His friends had to point out to him that he was doing an underflip.

He thought he was flicking the tricks normally.

I think that's an important point.

It is possible to do them on accident without knowing.

Sort of like muscle memory getting in the way.

So that's interesting.

But what does all of this have to do with Chris Haslam?

Well, watch any video of him doing a laser flip, or biggerspin heelflip in any stance.

Watch his back heel.

By now, you should be able to recognize a kiwi flip and understand how it works.

And as you can tell, he's clearly underflipping it with his heel.

He seems to do it that way exclusively.

And he's not alone.

Ishod Wair seems like he does his switch ones with both feet too.

If you watch anyone doing a 540 laser flip, they're always using their back heel at

least a little.

It's too hard to pop a frontside 540 without that followthrough.

So I came into this thinking that it's definitely cheating.

And since they feel so different to ME, that there's really no chance Haslam doesn't

know what he's doing.

But after talking to Aymeric, I think he changed my mind a little bit.

I asked him if he thinks it's cheating, and this is what he says, "to me the 360

kiwi flip qualifies as a laser flip yeah, and to me they are equal.

there are plenty of different ways to do the same tricks, every skater has their style,

just like 360 flips or impossibles some people do flat ones or catch it in different ways,

you usually use both feet for a laser flip anyway.

Breaking things down too much is overly pedantic after a certain point."

He also pointed out to me some other pros who do certain tricks weird, like Alex Moul's

bigspin heels that nosedive, and Daewon Song's mobbed inward heels that almost look like

a shove it late flip.

Does that mean they don't count?

No, of course they do.

So what's the final verdict?

Does Chris Haslam cheat at laser flips?

I guess not.

Even though the technique is a bit easier, he might not even know he's doing it.

But you can actually learn from this.

If you can't get the full rotation on a laser, try throwing some back heel action

in there.

Do it kiwi style.

Follow through and push it around.

That's a pro tip that you don't see anyone talk about, because they might not even know

they're doing it.

I'd like to thank Aymeric for his help with this video.

I linked up his profiles and stuff in the description so you can follow him if you want

to see more from him.

If you liked the video, hit the like button, and subscribe to see new stuff like this every

Tuesday.

What do you think about the Kiwi flip?

Does it count as a laser?

Does it matter - and why?

Remember to Brush Your...Egg? - Duration: 4:01.

Teeth are strong and amazing tools that help you every day.

They help you bite into food, chew, talk to your friends, and of course, smile!

It's important to keep your teeth healthy, and that means brushing them every morning

and every night.

Squeaks and I do that, too!

You need to brush because otherwise some of the things in your food and drink can hurt

your teeth.

One of the things that can hurt your teeth is called acid.

Acids are ingredients that taste kind of sour, and they're in lots of foods and drinks

— like oranges, sugary juices, coffee, and soda pop.

They might taste good, but because there's acid in these foods and drinks, they can eat

away at your teeth and make tiny little cracks on their surface — so small that you can't

even see them.

Then, the color from foods and drinks can get into the cracks, which can make your teeth

look yellow or brown.

But brushing cleans away the acid, which helps keep your teeth strong.

It also cleans out some of the color from the surface of your teeth, which keeps them

nice and white.

Do you want to see for yourself how brushing keeps your teeth clean?

Alright!

Let's do an experiment!

Are you ready, Squeaks?

[Squeaks squeaks]

For this experiment, we're not going to test our own teeth, because we want to keep

them strong and healthy, so instead we're going to use...

eggs!

And this experiment is going to focus on the very outside of an egg, the eggshell.

Eggshells aren't /exactly/ the same as your teeth, but teeth and eggs are a lot alike

because they're both made up of something called calcium.

Calcium is what gives teeth their strength and hardness, so you can bite into things

and chew easily.

Since both teeth and eggshells have calcium in them, the acid in soda, fruit juice, and

coffee can eat away at an eggshell just like it eats away at a tooth.

And then, just like with a tooth, the color in foods and drinks can get into the tiny

cracks in the eggshell.

You already know that brushing your teeth keeps them clean and healthy, so do you think

brushing an eggshell would keep /it/ clean, too?

[Squeaks reacts]

I think so too Squeaks!

Let's find out!

For this experiment, you'll need a hard-boiled white egg, some soda, a cup, a toothbrush,

toothpaste, and help from a grown up.

Also, this experiment will take time, so give yourself a day to finish it!

Before you start, grab a grown up to help you hard-boil the egg.

Then, put the hard-boiled egg in the cup.

Next, fill the cup with soda until it covers the egg.

And now just let the egg sit for a day!

[pew pew pew transition to the future]

We started our experiment yesterday so we have an egg that has been sitting in the soda

bath for a day, and now it's brown!

Let's put some toothpaste on our toothbrush and brush the egg to see what happens!

Wow!

Take a look at that!

The egg looks much less brown now!

So what happened?

The acid in the soda ate away at the eggshell just like it eats away at teeth.

Then, the soda's brown color got into the cracks and stained the egg.

But just like with teeth, the toothpaste and toothbrush worked to clean the eggshell.

[Squeaks reacts]

That's true, Squeaks — the toothbrush didn't get /all/ of the brown color out.

That's because the egg was sitting in soda for a whole day, so the stain was a lot worse

than what happens when you just drink soda every once in awhile.

If you brush your teeth every day, you'll clean away the acid and color before your

teeth start to look like this eggshell.

You can also help keep acid from hurting your teeth by drinking healthier options, like

water — or milk, which is chock full of the calcium that makes your teeth stronger!

But no matter what you drink, it's important to brush your teeth and clean away any acids

and leftovers from the food you eat.

Thanks for joining us for this egg brushing experiment, and we'd also like to give a

big thank you to Google Making Science for helping us make this episode!

How did your experiment turn out?

Did you try it with juice or coffee?

We'd love to see how it went!

If you want to share your experiment with us, just grab a grown up to leave a comment

down below, or send us an e-mail to kids@scishow.com.

And we'll see you next time, here at the fort!

Papantonio: Has Middle America Grown Tired Of Podesta & The DNC? - Duration: 5:57.

Just when you believe that Russian hysteria could not become any more ridiculous, Comcast,

that by the way owns MSNBC and BuzzFeed, promoted their "Golden Shower" story.

The only positive aspect to the story is that finally the DNC, the McCain War Hawks, and

the corporate establishment media, our dysfunctional spook infrastructure along with that, may

have received a reality check about how tired and even angry Middle America has become with

their efforts to force the US into a new Cold War with Russia.

We get it.

Someone in Russia hacked the DNC.

No doubt about it.

They didn't hack the election as the DNC prefers to argue, they hacked the organization that's

supposed to be the leadership for the Democrats.

Everyone across the board admits that that's remarkably different than 'hacking an election,'

as the DNC likes to put it.

So why does this story have such a shelf life?

Well, number one, Podesta and the DNC ran a train wreck of a presidential campaign,

and they know that.

If they can get coverage from something better it turns attention away from their own incompetence,

so the aging democratic leadership structure can live to fight another day.

It's a Podesta effort.

Number two, if McCain and Graham can rattle sabres loudly enough the defense industry

that they represent, and receive most of their money from, are going to be able to sell more

weapons.

It's easy math.

Build more planes and ships.

Expand war technology in preparation for a new Cold War with Russia.

Those are the first two reasons.

Number three, and of course there's the corporate controlled media, such as Comcast, that owns

MSNBC and ABC network and CBS network, they're no different.

They're all able to turn their attention on Russia.

Russian TV as a market penetration that they say is far greater than their own.

They turn that attention to Russian TV.

That's because Russian owned TV isn't operated by its advertisers.

If a reporter on RT chooses to tell the story about a Pfizer drug that kills thousands of

people, they can do that story because they're not answerable to their advertisers.

The advertisers aren't bossing them around about what they can and can't do.

If RT chooses to tell that story about Wall Street and Goldman Sachs stealing billions

from Mom and Pop pension programs through backdoor deals, then RT can tell that story

because they're not answerable to Goldman Sachs and Wall Street advertisers like ABC,

CBS, and NBC, and MSNBC.

That type of reporting is virtually impossible for corporate media.

In fact that type of reporting added to the reality of the 2008 economic burn down and

the Iraq war that was based completely on lives because corporate media could not tell

the truthful back stories about radioactive yellow cake and missile tubes and fantasy

weapons of mass destruction.

They just couldn't tell the story.

They couldn't do that because they wanted access to the war.

Remember that?

They wanted war correspondents there on the field.

They couldn't do that because McDonnell Douglas and Boeing are such huge advertisers for them.

They couldn't do that because they wanted access to the White House, and if they didn't

play by the rules, that access would disappear.

So, they couldn't tell the story.

To put that into perspective how ridiculous the Russian Network argument actually was,

you have to watch the CIA's James Clapper testify.

Now this is really, stay with me on this, because this is really interesting.

James Clapper testifies that he believes that Russian Networks, RT, exposes America to all

these problems by the stories they're reporting.

Well, the stories that he complained about was that RT was reporting about Wall Street,

and Wall Street being able to steal from American consumers.

That's a problem that RT reports that?

You had to read the bogus CIA hacking report to understand that Mr. Clapper views any reporting

about any American institution that was committing any type of fraud or wrongdoing was off limits.

It was some type of nefarious attack by the Russians.

Then you have Mr. Clapper testifying live in front of congress about his total lack

of knowledge in regard to what the actual media penetration was in the United States

for Russian networks.

Live on camera you saw Mr. Clapper testify that he wasn't even aware of where RT was

reporting from in the United States.

Even though it was right down the street from his office.

This entire Russian hysteria is one of those stories that we'll look back and we'll be

embarrassed about ... If we're honest with ourselves, we'll be embarrassed by it.

Did they hack?

Of course they hacked.

Does the US government do the same thing interfering with elections all over the world?

Well, of course.

Go back and read a couple off Howard Zinn books and gain some understanding about how

our own government, and most superpower governments around the globe engage in conduct far worse

than hacking, into Podesta's dysfunctional political life at the DNC.

As China becomes stronger and North Korea becomes more unpredictable, and the Middle

East becomes more unstable because of its ISIS influence, it's easy to conclude we need

all the friends we can get in this world.

We can't have a tenuous relationship with Russia.

We can't be rattling sabres with Russia, A, to cover Podesta and the dysfunctional DNC,

B, because John McCain wants to go to war, C, because the corporate media can't tell

the same stories that the Russian reporting can tell, and D, because our intelligence

infrastructure has become dysfunctional.
