Can't believe I'm doing this
Hello everyone and welcome to my channel. My name is Madeline
if you do not know me.
I make videos about
curly hair, college, and lifestyle.
And today I am making my first video
only in Spanish, and I am going to talk
about my experience in Costa Rica. I went to Costa Rica
in May to study
Spanish, or to continue my studies
in Spanish. I have studied Spanish for about
8 years, only in school, but
this trip was my first experience
in total immersion. I stayed
with a Costa Rican family
in San Jose, Costa Rica that didn't speak any English.
I spoke Spanish with everyone,
but
I didn't speak Spanish with
my classmates from UCA.
sorry...
And I studied in a Costa Rican school in San Jose
in an intensive Spanish course.
I loved the experience, and I learned a lot.
But, I am not fluent yet.
sorry...
I'm not going to lie, I wrote all of this
on my phone because I can write
better than I can speak.
So,
I'm not fluent yet.
Before my trip, I thought that
I would be fluent after this experience, but
that is not true. I can understand more
when I listen or read, I understand more
words, and I can speak more quickly,
but I am not fluent. I need to practice
and I thought it would be a good idea if
I practice in front of the whole world
on the Internet...
But, my experience. I miss it
so much! I stayed for only
five and a half weeks, but
I could have stayed for
much longer, so much longer.
I studied at Costa Rican Language Academy
CRLA, in San Jose
for 4 weeks, 4 days a week
the classes were my favorite parts
of this trip because I am
a person of routines, and
I am a nerd. Is there a word in Spanish
for nerd?
On the weekends we went, me and my
classmates, to different parts
of the country. We went to Manuel Antonio,
Monteverde, Puerto Viejo. We took all
of the busses. Al of them. All of the busses.
I had never taken so many busses
as in my trip
in Costa Rica. All of the busses.
We went to the beaches, obviously,
and we ziplined
the tallest and longest zipline
in Latin America Superman-style
And we ate all the food...
I miss the Casado.
And the plantains.
The fifth week and a half, I stayed with my friends
from a different part called Turrialba.
But I was sick for the first
3 days, and it wasn't fun.
But when I felt better, we went to
waterfalls, a volcano,
and to Puerto Viejo another time.
And that was fun.
I love Costa Rica, and I want to go again
in the future. This experience
taught me that I like to travel
more than I thought, that I love
the Spanish language, and I love
learning about that language,
this language, that language? I'm not fluent.
And that I am not defined by my
insecurities. I more brave than I thought,
and I am more tough.
Not all of this trip was incredible,
and it wasn't comfortable, but I am alive,
and that is the most important.
And that is my experience
in Costa Rica. If you liked this, please
like this video. Those are the words, right?
...yes...And subscribe if
you really liked it. Tell me if you want to see
more videos from me in Spanish and if you want to see me
embarrass myself. That's a new word.
Embarrass myself.
And that is all for today, thank you for watching,
and I will talk to you very soon,
Ciao!
