Hi, my name is Jennifer Johnson and welcome to CIS120, Fall 2018.
I want to review how to navigate around our course.
First thing, is whenever you get lost or don't know where you are, you want to click the HOME button on the top left to navigate back to your courses.
Then you choose this course, CIS120 and you are right back to the beginning of our course.
This is a helpful feature.
There are several important features in this course. We have ANNOUNCEMENTS where important information for this course will be posted daily or weekly.
Announcements are for tips, tricks, updates and useful resources for this course.
CONTENT BROWSER is where all the modules, lessons and homework reside.
Another important feature (on the top right) is message alerts.
Subscription alerts (top right) will show messages when assignments are graded or discussion posts are replied to.
The ASSESSMENTS drop down menu holds assignments, discussions, grades, quizzes and other important elements of the course.
Most importantly, when you begin in the course, read the announcements first.
Then select the CONTENT BROWSER, which bring up like a table of contents for the course.
You can see the START HERE folder.
In the START HERE folder we have the syllabus for this course.
The course syllabus contains some important information, so please read. Take note of my email address for questions.
Our department chair information and description of this course is included in the syllabus.
The textbook information is important to note in the syllabus. There are 3 textbooks required for this course, so the pictures, titles and ISBN numbers are included.
These 3 textbooks come bundled with the SNAP labs, and it is most cost effective to purchase this way.
The ebook is usually cheaper and these textbooks are sold in a bundle at the bookstore.
Please read the syllabus completely and let me know if you have any questions.
This course consists mostly of hands-on labs in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and web development labs.
Netiquette and attendance (class participation) is important.
In review, the START HERE is important to find the course syllabus and schedule of work.
The CONTENT menu item shows you all the modules in the course.
After reviewing the START HERE, click on Module One of the CONTENT to begin in the first assignments, discussions and begin the course.
