computers have been in this world for such a long time that it feels like they have existed forever
and with the existence of computers comes existence of two important elements
programmers and pirates
not those ones... those ones

pirates are very skilled people when it comes to computer security
they are the people who believes that every security technology can be hacked no matter how powerful it is
we are talking here about programs
and to be more specific we are talking about video games
video games industry is growing year after year and it's reaching crazy numbers
and when we talk about the number of people we're talking about money
there is big companies that spends years and millions of dollars on developing each game
and results are awesome
we've seen a lot of improvements in the last couple of years
in graphics animations AI and a lot of other sides in video game developments
cool right?
and in order to keep these companies working to make more video games and even better video games
they need to make money especially if they already spent a lot of money to develop them
and one of the main problems big companies usually face
is pirates
they are one of the reasons why people don't buy video games anymore
some people think that there is no reason to spend money on games as long as they can get them for free
video games developers are having a huge war against pirates
and it seems for a while that they pulled every card so what's next?
pirate won the game ?
that's what we thought until the last couple of games releases
we've noticed that games took longer time than usual to be cracked
and we decided to dig a little bit to figure out what is going on
we've been collecting information from the internet
and we are here with the results
looks like video games developers didn't pull every card not just that
they still have more than card
let's think of this war as a card game any card game use your imagination
this game is happening between game developers and pirates
it feels like you are winning the game until other side pull a card that could change the game
and that was the case for years
it looked for a moment that pirates had better cards during the last round of the game
groups of pirates who are releasing cracks of video games constantly
we're not going to dive in the history of those groups and much details about them
but we will tell you just what you need to know in this video
in the past years pirates were able to crack video games within a couple of days
sometimes they were able to do so even before the game were officially released
they used beta versions and demo versions just to make it clear
but that's not the case anymore the game changed
Assassin's Creed origins the game was released on October 27th 2017
the game crack was released 99 days later on February the 3rd 2018 by conspiracy
dead rising 4 was released on January the 31st 2017
the game crack was released 138 days later
on June 18 2017 by Baldman

it's Denuvo what is Denuvo?
Denuvo is an anti-tamper technology and digital rights management
what is that mean?? digital rights management or DRM
is a set of access control technologies for restricting the use of proprietary hardware and copyrighted works
DRM technology try to control the use or modifications and distribution of copyrighted works
such as software and multimedia content
in our case video games
when I said ant-tamper software
I meant a software which makes it harder for an attacker to modify it
the measures involved can be passive to make reverse-engineering difficult
or active tamper detection techniques
which aim to make a program malfunction or not operate at all if modified
to make it simple looks like Pirates are having so much trouble nowadays
cracking games is not as easy as before
it's getting more difficult and will take a long time to make it happen
and sometimes it's impossible
not just that some games won't operate properly after being cracked
Serious Sam 3 the game developers decided to punish those who pirated the game by scorpion
a scorpion-like monster that moves with an incredible speed and can never be killed
no matter how long we are fighting against this boss it will never be killed

despite how effective the game usually robot jump-scare are
the developer decided that the pirates deserve an additional pants-wetting moment
that they'll never forget

we took a look at crack watch which is a news reporting website about crack status of PC games
and by using some searching filters on the website
we were able to see the games that haven't been cracked yet
Denuvo's presence was quite strong and we had to admit it when we looked at some games releases dates
we looked for some last games releases and we choosed a game that hasn't been cracked yet
Jurassic world revolution
the game was released on June the 11th of this year 2018
it's been almost two weeks and no one was able to crack the game yet
we've heard rumors that this game will take a long time to be cracked
because of the powerful protection of Denuvo
it looks like Pirates have a real challenge this time but don't forget
the people who lives in shadow love challenges
this reminds me of Dooms incident in 2016
in January of 2016 a well-known Chinese cracking forum known as 3DM
predicted that games would become uncrackable by 2018
the reason was Denuvo which was used to protect just cause 3 and many other games
and was proving incredible difficult to crack
but Denuvo has suffered a rather embarrassing defeat courtesy
of a 19 years old Bulgarian hacker who goes by the name Voksi
armed with a copy of Doom 2016 demo
he discovered a loophole and removed Denuvo's influence completely from the full version of the game
Voksi didn't crack Denuvo he just took the time to understand how it works
and created a workaround in the form of a loader application
this workaround worked for three days before Denuvo get patched
and stopped it in that time 650,000 pirate copies of the game were made to
work and register as legit on Denuvo's servers
the same workaround was also applied on other games including rise of the Tomb Raider
