Hello guys! :)
I am Samreen.
And today I'll be showing you all the recent art supplies I purchased.
So without further ado let's get started.
Beginning with sketchbooks, this is a watercolor sheet pad by Fabriano.
I was dying to get my hands on this because these sheets are hot pressed.
And I love hot pressed sheets.
I've never been a great fan of rough or textured sheets actually.
Although now I do have a huge collection of cold pressed papers.
Because I just wanted to give them a try.
I purchased the 200gsm pad which came with 75 sheets.
But next time I'm surely gonna get the 300gsm pad.
Next are these Moleskine books.
Since it's the beginning of a new year and that too such a crucial year for me because
I'm all set to build my brand I thought setting up a bullet journal will really help me better
my time management skills.
It's so much easier to write down or plan your year months, weeks and even days ahead
in time.
And just monitor your schedule, habits and most importantly complete all your tasks on
time.
And now it's much easier for me to see what's coming up next be it events, meetings or tasks.
I'm really liking this method because I tend to forget stuff easily actually.
And when you are a freelancer or just your own boss it's kind of hectic I feel.
Because there are so many things you have to take care of yourself.
So journaling just makes it a lot more easier.
Next is this Moleskine Watercolor Sketchbook which you probably might have already seen
me use in my previous videos and also which you will see me use in my coming videos since
it's a part of my Sketchbook Diaries series.
Next on the list are these Signo White Gell Pens by Uni-Ball.
The ink in these pens is really opaque.
I also added the gold and silver pens in my Uni-Ball Signo collection a week ago.
And they actually came in a pack.
I actually wanted the gold but the pack contained a silver pen with the gold one so yeah my
intention was just to buy the gold but I even got the silver with it.
And I'm quite happy with the purchase since they are exactly what I needed.
I finally was able to find a Uni POSCA in one of the stores here.
Unfortunately they only had one color available which was black.
Next I bought a full pack of Prisma Col-Erase pencils in carmine red.
I use these to sketch actually.
I don't know, I just prefer sketching with these over graphite pencils.
This pack came with 12 pencils.
This ink has remained untouched ever since I purchased it.
It's the Winsor & Newton calligraphy ink in crimson.
It had been lying around in one of my drawers and I didn't even know I owned it until recently
while setting up my studio.
So I thought I might as well include it in the haul.
Anyway, I used this in my previous video.
So i'll link the video just in case any of you want to check that out.
Next are these stumps by Cretacolor.
I purchased these to use on graphite and charcoal.
Moving onto brushes now, these are the Pentel Aquash water brushes.
I have a full first impression video dedicated to these so I'll surely link that for you
guys to check out.
It's the same video in which I also used the Winsor & Newton ink.
So check it out if you are interested.
This next item I really regret buying.
Like all other art supplies I had ordered this pack of Silver Black Velvet brushes from
amazon completely unaware of it containing a mixture squirrel hair with synthetic hair.
I don't know why it wasn't mentioned in the description on amazon.
For those who are wondering what's the big deal in it.
Well, I turned vegan last year in august.
So it's just that I prefer buying cruelty free products.
These brushes work fine don't get me wrong.
But there are just so many great synthetic brushes out there in the market now which
give equally great results.
So why spend shit loads of money on these animal hair brushes?
Coming back to the quality of this brush, the brush tip is good and it holds a good
amount of water.
and even with a no. 12 brush
you can achieve really fine lines.
Next on the list are these Escoda brushes.
It's the Alvaro Castagnet signature collection.
I hope I am pronouncing his name right.
Alvaro is a well renowned artist who has personally put together this set.
This set came with three round pointed brushes in nos. 8, 10 & 12.
Now these are made of synthetic hair.
They are known for their great similarity to kolinsky sable brushes.
They not only imitate its color but also its natural spring and even the brush stroke's
response as mentioned in the packaging.
I absolutely adore these.
You can already see it helps you achieve really fine line strokes.
I had actually purchased these for gouache but now I might also use them for watercolors.
The only drawback according to me is that these brushes are very long.
so if you have a habit of working with short handle brushes like me you will find it awkward
and uncomfortable in the beginning.
It's actually my first time purchasing long handle brushes so I think it will just take
me some time to get used to it.
That's it.
The last item I purchased is this zip case by Brustro.
I hope I am pronouncing it right.
I bought this case to place all my most used brushes together and keep them well intact.
And no, it didn't come with any free brush.
The ones you see right now are my old brushes.
I've been using some of these brushes since 4-5 years now.
Especially the Winsor & Newton brushes.
I had like a full collection of these brushes.
They were my favorite brand of brushes back in the day.
And I literally used these brushes on all of my art assignments in university as well
as my exams.
So that's it for today guys.
I hope you all enjoyed the video.
Sorry if it was too long.
I tried keeping it as short as possible.
I'll be coming back with a new video next week so stay tuned.
Until then as I always say stay happy, spread love and positivity.
I love you all.
Bye! :)
