Hey everyone!

My name is Mrs. Siano and I am going to be your teacher for 6th grade reading.

For the next year we will be working on building your reading stamina with different forms

of literature, both fiction non nonfiction.

Part of our class will be working online in UTC Learn.

Since this is your first year doing this type of online work, I have provided some tutorials

on how to navigate UTC Learn.

It can be frustrating at times but be patient with yourself and ask plenty of questions!

I am here for you whenever you need.

Now, I will show you what UTC Learn looks like.

After logging in to your UTC Learn account, you will see our course labeld 6th grade Reading under

the my courses tab.

Click on our class and it will bring you to our course.

As you can see I have tabs located on the left had side.

If you click on the first tab that says Start Here, you will see that it brings you to a

welcome page.

This is where you begin the course.

After reading the welcome information you proceed by reading the syllabus.

To read the syllabus simply click on it and it will open up in Microsoft word.

To take the Syllabus quiz, you click on the link and press BEGIN.

These are the first tasks I am giving you to do for this class.

Everything should be completed before the first day of school.

This will help me know what you may be struggling with online or what you may not understand

with the syllabus.

UTC Learn will be used frequently throughout our class, so it is important to become familiar

with the navigation tools.

To check and see what we are doing each week in class and what assignments are due, click

on the weekly content tab.

As you can see, I have already posted week 1.

Click on this folder and your first assignment is listed as introductions.

Clicking on this link will lead you to your assignment.

Every Sunday I will post the weeks work in corresponding folders.

You may also access your grades through the My grades tab.
