Hi, welcome to Backpackers.com
Today we're looking at the REI Igneo 17,
which is a new sleeping bag from REI
This is it all packed up into its stuff sack,
and you can see there's actually
Quite a bit of room for it to compress even more
It comes
to store in this much larger
ventilated storage sack, which is really nice for keeping the
insulation from getting too compressed
The Igneo 17 is a 700 fill duck down sleeping bag
It's very warm, at 17 degrees
That's the EN lower limit rating which means
you can survive pretty comfortably at that
The comfort rating is 28 degrees and this is for men as well
There is a women's version of the Igneo 17
It's called the Joule 21.
The temperature rating is a little bit higher because
Women sleep a little bit colder, historically.
This is the full sleeping bag, and you can see that the
red is the main fabric and
the black on the sides has vertical baffles, and it's a thicker firmer fabric that feels more tear resistant and
Is more waterproof. So that's in the foot of the bag and
around the sides, which are usually where you get most of the liquid
The sleeping bag itself is incredibly comfortable
it is a mummy and with a pretty tight mummy, but it
sleeps really well
And it's wide in the shoulders, which is great for guys
You can see one of my favorite features of this
is the YKK zipper
It has this interesting design, which really
keeps it from snagging which is really nice
And another nice close-up feature is this
Muffler thing. It looks like a little blanket in the top of the sleeping bag
That's comfortable and sort of wraps around you for when you want to be really warm
Yeah, so this is just a quick look at the REI Igneo 17
