Michele and I encourage our clients to tell their story so today I'm gonna tell
a little bit about how we got started and a little bit about Post Script's story
so Michele and I met in college at Elon University in North Carolina we were
both broadcast communications majors we worked on a game show together which was
pretty much all fun and games as you can imagine we had a bunch of fun we didn't
actually have any classes together so and we would always talk about how we
didn't really have time to be friends with each other we didn't you know
really see each other much except for when we would get together for the game
show that we worked on. Eventually we saw this poster around campus and it said do
you want to win $500 $1,000 whatever it was and Michele and I thought yeah
we want to win this money because that was a lot of money for college but that's a
lot of money for anybody so we decided to enter this contest it was all about
explaining the meal plan on campus so I'm sure a lot of people are familiar
you have your meal plan on your campus ID card you can buy food in all the
dining halls snacks whatever so we thought we can explain this so we
decided to shoot edit cast we were in the video we created this really goofy
story about how the meal plan can be used in all the different facilities all
across campus so we entered the contest we ended up winning we're pretty sure
that we were the only ones that entered but that's fine so we ended up getting
the money we were so excited we did it all in one weekend it was awesome
somehow that video ended up in the hands of a person who worked for Aramark in
Raleigh Durham Aramark was the company that provided
the food service for campus so that video ended up in their hands when we
found that out later we were super embarrassed because the video was a joke
it was goofy so that video ended up in their hands and we got a phone call or
an email asking if we would be willing to create a vertical sales training
video for aramark we didn't even know what a vertical sales training video was
so it was like yeah I mean I'm a yes person so of course I said yes and I
said Michele let's let's do this and she's like okay this is weird
so aramark actually hired us to go down to South Carolina they put us up in a
hotel room they took us out to eat and I specifically
remember them asking where we wanted to have dinner and I looked around the area
and there was an Outback and I thought we've really made it we're gonna eat
steak and we're gonna get put up in a hotel room and we're gonna make this
video like this is adulting right this is crazy
so we did the video we learned what verticals sales was pretty quickly
because we had to make a video about it we interviewed a bunch of people on this
really small college campus in South Carolina came back edited it and it was
crazy because it was the week that Michele was actually graduating from
college so we were her family was in town we were trying to finish this video
we were just crazy like it just it was a lot and finished the video got it done
sent it to done they were happy with it they paid us I remember we put like
however much we were making on this giant whiteboard because we were like in
the money at that point like greatest day ever
yeah it was great and so that was sort of the beginning of when we decided oh
this is how our degree and our experiences on campus can be translated
into a profession and into a career we hadn't really thought in those terms
before I still had a year of college left so I had to finish that and then
eventually Michele moved to Pittsburgh and we started poster productions
