Waching daily Jan 31 2018

Hi, I'm Mark Vaughan, Medical Doctor during the week, and independent filmmaker on the

weekends.

You can find links to some of my prior productions like the comedy short, SHE, and the Auburn

Medical Group procedure videos on YouTube.

This project is a pilot episode for a medical drama web series called Madicine Woman.

It's the story of Madison, a young physician assistant who is forced to save her medical

practice from demise, leading her to discover a LONG-kept secret.

In addition to the fictional story about Madison we will be giving the audience an inside look

at the reality of primary care medical practice in 2018.

It will also touch on important aspects of human physiology and medicine relevant to

our country's greatest health threats.

In addition to my fascination with medicine and enjoyment of helping people, I have also

had a life-long love of radio and television which is now expressed through internet video.

In fact, I was even a broadcasting major when I started college.

This project is the nexus of these interests and my personal experiences to make the most

realistic medical drama of our time.

We already have the script thanks to our writer, Brandon Lopez.

The other member of the team is Jeff Dickerson, the cinematographer from our 2014 short, SHE.

We will begin casting once we have met our goal on Kickstarter, and filming will begin

in early April.

We will submit the final video for purchase through online platforms like Amazon Video

once it is completed in May.

Then we will continue writing and planning for a complete first season.

We have two budgets, depending on how much we raise through Kickstarter.

There is a $12,000 dream budget with all of the extra elements we would love to include

in the production.

Then there is the $8000 budget which will be adequate to start to tell this story if

we can achieve at least $5000 of it through Kickstarter by March first.

I find that people are surprised when I tell them about the unique economic forces and

incentives shaping the practice of medicine at this time.

A dramatic web series is the best medium for letting everyone discover what matters about

their health and how it is incentivised at this time.

Please join us in this project by finding the reward level that suits you best and "Back

this project."

Thank you.

Dean Unnava's Big 3 Video | January 2018 | UC Davis Graduate School of Management - Duration: 3:12.

[Rao Unnava]: Welcome to the video edition of our

Big 3 Newsletter for January 2018.

It's already shaping up to be an

exciting year for us.

We have launched a set of four industry immersions

that we believe are unlike any other business school experience.

These new graduate courses combine our

business expertise and corporate

partner network with UC Davis'

global leadership in biotechnology,

food and agriculture,

sustainable energy,

and technology finance.

Each Friday, top executives challenge

our students to team up and present solutions to

real management issues.

Each class is half MBA students and half

graduate students from STEM disciplines

across UC Davis.

So problems presented by the executive

are evaluated comprehensively in multi-disciplinary teams.

We have been joined by senior leaders from Microsoft,

Coca-Cola, Mars, Qualtrics as well as

several trailblazing entrepreneurs.

We are capitalizing on UC Davis' strengths

and Northern California's innovation ecosystem.

Our goal is simple:

better prepare the next generation of leaders

in these key sectors.

Meanwhile, twenty of our MBA students

just returned from the opportunity of a lifetime,

meeting one of this generation's most

iconic businessmen and investors, Warren Buffett.

They traveled to snowy Nebraska

to have lunch with the Oracle of Omaha

and toured several of Mr. Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway companies.

This was the 9th time the legendary billionaire

and philanthropist has invited UC Davis MBAs.

In a room full of business students, Mr. Buffett

recognized UC Davis students for giving back

on each trip by volunteering at Girls Inc. in Omaha.

Mr. Buffett is a longtime supporter of the non-profit

that empowers girls and young women.

Mr. Buffett left our students with

these words of wisdom:

"Once your family has what it needs, figure out how to better the world."

And in the world of finance, we have

uncovered new insights into why there

are so few women in the field.

In a series of recent studies, Professor Brad Barber

has identified several key factors.

First,

role models for women, especially parents working

in a STEM field, are lacking.

Second,

the perceived math gender gap

between boys and girls that translates

into a real gap in numbers.

Finally,

The demanding hours,

travel and lack of free time that

create a subtle bias against women.

Professor Barber and his co-authors are

advocating for more mentorship programs for girls

as well as more finance professionals as

inspirational mentors for rising scholars.

Our MBA alumna, May Seeman spent

more than 20 years as a Wall Street CEO in asset management.

Seeman said the tide is changing and Wall Street

has taken note as more non-profit

and corporate programs are helping women

with internships, career positions and

mentorships in finance.

Thank you for watching this month's Big 3!
