Are you ready to give love and time to a pet?
The best way to go is adopt.
These pets are rescued from the streets daily to avoid a tragic ending.
Aly Velazquez works for Multnomah County Animal Shelter. She talks about the process of adopting a pet.
"Come out and meet the pet. If you like it and have a connection, interact with it for a period of time, then you can apply to adopt it."
Then you will will out some basic information into several forms.
Once you are setup with an adoption counselor, they will ask you some basic information
like whether you've owned pets before, where the pet will sleep, and how you will give the pet exercise through your activities.
Radio personalities like "La Traviesa" and "El Bronco" from the show "Los Hijos de La Machaca"
got together to raise funds for donations of blankets to the shelter for the holidays
"It's scientifically proven that animals adopted from shelters are as caring and loving, and protective of their families as animals that are bred and purchased."

"It's a wonderful responsibility that has to be done with awareness, and we'd like to invite people to adopt, and not to buy pets."
