Welcome to Deciding on Law School, the course where you'll analyze and determine whether
law school is right for you.
My name is Adam and I will be your instructor in this course.
After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2010, I enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania
Law School, one of the top ten law schools in the United States.
While at Penn Law, I clerked for a judge in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, and
was a summer associate at a Vault top-50 law firm in New York City.
After graduating Penn Law in 2014, I returned to that same law firm, and became a full-time
litigation associate, specializing in commercial litigation.
I designed this course so that you can recognize the most important factors when thinking about
your decision.
This'll be a life-altering decision, both financially and otherwise, so you're going
to want to understand all of the nuances and details before making your final call.
By the end of this course, you'll be able to understand how your dreams and practical
situation stack up with the reality of being a law student and attorney, you'll obtain
the tools to conduct your own due diligence on this opportunity, and you'll be able
to justify your final decision to family and friends.
The course is separated out into six modules that discuss the most important elements of
this decision.
We will discuss the thoughts, justifications, and rationales in attending law school, career
options and current market conditions, costs and debt, researching law schools, determining
whether you're an attractive candidate at certain schools, and I'll give some concluding
thoughts.
I'll walk you through the details of all these topics, and will help you apply these
general principles to your specific circumstances.
The ideal student for this course is a current college student or recent college grad who
has either just started thinking about law school or has thought about it for some time.
You may be excited, yet somewhat apprehensive about your decision, so this course is designed
to stimulate your thinking so that you can make the best choice for you.
Feel free to look at the course description for more information.
I look forward to seeing you at the first lecture!
