Before I'll forget

I live here just once

And what do I get

Before my time's up

Give my a chance to be myself

There's nothing I want today

Inside my collar I conceal

Volcanic madness

It came at night

Calls my name and my heart surrender

I hear them sometimes

It's ok to get hurt

Though life kicks my was

I get up

Who pursues chasing

Who's running away

Who's fast

Who's slow

Today we'll know

Before my time's up

Before I'll forget

I live here just once

And what do I get

Before my time's up

Give my one chance to be myself

There is nothing I want today

I don't sleep mortgage free mind at all

I'm not lonely though

Baby's cry isn't waking me yet

Must get up early

Oh no

I can see

I hear myself

I'm alive there's still

Hunger in me

I'm alive there's still

Hunger in me

I don't want

Don't want to run

Grade 1 Integrated ELAR and Social Studies Unit 3 Video Preview - Duration: 5:59.

Welcome to the first grade Integrated ELAR and Social Studies Unit 3 video preview!

This video is intended as an overview for the standards you will teach the third six weeks.

In this unit we will cover customs and traditions through informational text and fiction with

informational and personal narrative writing while integrating social studies into our reading and writing workshops.

A great starting point for planning Unit 3 is the overview, which can be found on curriculum central under Unit 3.

The overview covers all 3 bundles in the unit:

American customs and celebrations through informational texts with informational writing,

holiday traditions through informational text and procedural text with procedural writing,

and holiday traditions through fiction text with a personal narrative.

This document comes in handy when trying to keep your planning on track in all balanced literacy components while integrating Social Studies.

Each section discusses student focus as well as guided questions, ELAR TEKS, and Social Studies TEKS.

Social Studies integration: In Unit 3, Bundle 1,

students will gain an understanding of social studies concepts through

integrated ELAR that includes student focus on customs and celebrations,

how patriotic celebrations like Veterans Day reflect American

individualism and freedom and exploring their own customs and observance of holidays.

In Bundle 2, students continue to focus on customs and traditions

by how they celebrate holidays and how holidays are celebrated within their communities and

students will compare how celebrations have changed over time. The main holiday focus for this bundle is on Thanksgiving.

In Bundle 3 the focus will change from customs and traditions when celebrating Thanksgiving to customs and traditions

when celebrating Christmas. By integrating Social Studies in ELAR

students can express their knowledge of Social Studies through writing and deepen their understanding of holiday traditions

and celebrations by making connections to characters through text they have read.

Let's go over some key topics and Balanced Literacy components in each bundle.

In Word Study, Bundle 1, the new focus is distinguishing between long and short vowels in words they hear,

recognizing changing medial phonemes, and decoding words with -ed inflectional endings.

In Bundle 2, the new word study focus is now on decoding words with VCe

syllable pattern and with -es or - s inflectional endings.

Bundle 3's focus includes decoding common contractions.

Continue reviewing all phonological awareness focuses from previous bundles and continue to decode VCe words and

identify high frequency words.

In reading workshop students will focus on informational text,

procedural text and will revisit fiction text.

A few more important focuses that are covered in Unit 3 are that students will generate questions before

during and after reading texts and monitor their comprehension by asking questions and using background knowledge.

Students will continue to expand their understanding of plot elements and refine their ability to retell stories

they have read and identify author's purpose.

Remember to refer to the overview for guiding questions.

You can find resources for reading and high-frequency words as well as additional

spiraling TEKS in the Instructional Focus Document.

During Writing Workshop, students begin a new genre

focus of writing informational texs. By using

mentor texts to identify the facts and details the author used about the topic,

students will be able to generate facts and details and provide information about their own topics.

Another new genre focus in this unit is writing procedural texts.

Procedural mentor texts will help students identify the way authors organize facts and details in sequence.

Students will also revisit personal narrative mentor texts that focus on holiday memories in Unit 3.

Students will continue to apply spelling focuses, high-frequency words,

edit past tense verbs, and continue to write complete sentences as they compose

informational texts about topics of interest.

Please notice on the slide the different ways. The social studies theme is integrated throughout the students' writing projects for this unit.

As you assess students throughout this unit,

look to the Instructional Focus Document for specifics for report card Evidences of Learning.

Continue to collaborate and calibrate with your grade level team on collecting evidence of learning as well.

CLINICAL LYCANTHROPY | Video by Psych-Minded - Duration: 5:09.

Welcome back to Psych-Minded. I'm your host Kalley Marie. To continue on with

our October spooky psychology series we are going to be talking about an actual

psychiatric diagnosis where people believe they are being transformed into

a werewolf. Thank you for joining me today on Psych-Minded. If you are

returning thank you so much for subscribing. If you haven't yet

subscribed please subscribe so you'll never miss a video on Mental Health and

psychology. If you're joining me this month, it's a very cool month to be

joining me because for October we have been doing spooky psychology videos for

every week in October. I'm so glad you're here so don't forget to subscribe.

There's a lot of cool things coming up in the future on this channel. Clinical

lycanthropy -- what is clinical lycanthropy? The official diagnosis is somebody

believes they're being transformed into an animal. They get the sensations that

their body is transforming. They may even take on physical behaviors such as

grunting or crawling and basically embody an animal. They may believe that

they have already transformed into an animal or that they are currently in the

process of metamorphosizing into one. The most common animal that is found with

this diagnosis is actually a werewolf. The name comes from the Greek word

lycanthropy and just like lycanthropy by itself strictly means that someone

believes that they are transforming into a werewolf. The clinical diagnosis could

include any animal. So they haven't just found werewolves with this diagnosis --

they have found that people think they're transforming into bees or birds

or dogs. It just so happens that werewolf happens to be the most popular.

So when I was doing my research for this video I thought it tied in perfectly

with October and Halloween because we do see this a lot in movies. There is a

historical and even a psychological basis in the transformation into a

werewolf. So this diagnosis is super rare. Out of

56 cases that were studied in the mid-1800s by a doctor named Dr. John

Dirk only 13 cases actually fit the criteria for clinical lycanthropy. There

are a lot of other theories as to what this diagnosis could possibly mean and

we're gonna go into those. So apart from the cases that have been found -- the 13,

maybe 30 cases in historical psychology that have been

found to actually be a clinical lycanthropy, what are the explanations?

For other people, are there other reasons why somebody might believe they're being

transformed into an animal or a werewolf. The number one theory is that

clinical lycanthropy is some sort of co-occurring mental disorders. So some

psychologists believe that it's a combination of certain illnesses that

make it seem and make the person feel as though they are transforming into an

animal. For example schizophrenia can cause some pretty realistic delusions

and hallucinations depending on the type. It's thought that perhaps maybe

clinical lycanthropy is actually a form of schizophrenia, where these delusions

and hallucinations are making the person believe that they are metamorphosizing.

There are also some doctors that believe it's neurologically based. So that maybe

the signals in the brain and in the spine are sending sensations out to the

nerves that make the person feel as though maybe they are growing fur or

they have tingling sensations that are not normal that they might perceive as

being animalistic. So it could be the wiring in the brain. Another mental

illness that it is speculated to be related to is called body dysmorphia

disorder. Body dysmorphia disorder is where a person becomes fixated on one

particular part of their body, whether or not it is actually flawed and whether or

not it actually exists. It ends up being this preoccupation with feeling and

sensation and the way one looks and body dysmorphia disorder is a little bit

different for everybody but it is thought that maybe that has a tie-in to

this. If someone is a little bit more obsessive and preoccupied with something

they may be able to imagine that they are actually transforming into some sort

of animal. So clinical lycanthropy or the feeling that someone is being

transformed into an animal, could also be confused with something called species

dysphoria. Before I did my research for this video I had never heard of this

disorder and it made a lot of sense to me.

Species dysphoria is the feeling that you are in the wrong body but also the

wrong species entirely. With gender dysphoria, an individual believes that

they are in the wrong gender and so species dysphoria is a person believing

that they are actually in the wrong species. Depending on the severity of

this kind, this could manifest in a couple

different ways. It's possible that some of the cases throughout history

that have been thought to be clinical lycanthropy could actually be some sort

of species dysphoria. I thought this would be wonderful to cover today it was

right along the theme of Halloween and things that we do see in media but I

also wanted to give you guys a little bit of history on a really rare illness

and something that we don't talk about often. Thank you so much for joining me

today! Have you ever heard of clinical lycanthropy before this video? If so

please drop a comment below don't forget to subscribe to this channel for more

amazing mental health and psychological content and I will see you guys next

time! Bye!
