Actors Who Refused Huge Star Wars Roles - Duration: 7:04.
It may be hard to believe, but there have been quite a few actors who've turned down
the chance to appear in Star Wars.
It's only the biggest movie franchise in human history, so what's the big deal?
Here are a few actors who, for whatever reason, refused to appear in Star Wars at one time
or another.
Benicio del Toro
Before Ray Park portrayed the virtually mute Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, Benicio
del Toro was expected to appear as the horn-headed bad guy.
He reportedly walked away after most of his lines were cut from the script, whittling
the part down to a few spoken words, doing double-ended light-saber ballet, and getting
unceremoniously cut in half and thrown into the space garbage.
Perhaps his decision was wise: Maul has yet to return to the big screen, and Del Toro
got a second chance at the franchise by way of 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, alongside
Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley, in which he plays an "intergalactic villain."
Hopefully one with some actual dialogue.
Burt Reynolds
'70s superstar and professional mustache Burt Reynolds didn't suffer a shortage of work
due to his decision to skip out on 1977's Star Wars.
In fact, one of his most memorable appearances, in Smokey and the Bandit, dropped just days
after the first Star Wars hit theaters.
Reynolds was originally offered the role of space-smuggler Han Solo, which of course ultimately
went to Harrison Ford.
He explained on Good Morning America that he really didn't have a good reason.
"Yeah."
"You were busy."
"I was busy.
But, no, I wasn't so busy I couldn't have done it."
At the time, Reynolds was only choosing films by where they were being shot and whatever
girls he might get to kiss during filming.
Which, as far as choosing job opportunities goes, isn't the worst short-term strategy.
But then again, Harrison Ford didn't have to appear in Delgo.
Point, Ford.
Al Pacino
Another big-timer who declined the chance to play space cowboy was Al Pacino, who'd
already earned four Oscar nominations by the time 1977 rolled around.
In 2014, he explained his decision to decline the opportunity to MTV News.
"So they offered me this movie.
And I remember not understanding it when I read it."
"Right"
"And ah..
So another missed opportunity."
He also said that it was really a matter of choosing between a wealth of opportunities,
since he was being offered every possible role after starring in The Godfather.
Still, there's no explaining why he turned down Star Wars, and still… did this.
"It's not Al anymore.
It's Dunk!"
"Dunkaccio?"
"Don't mind if I do!"
"What's my name?
"Dunkaccino!"
Kurt Russell
Famously, Kurt Russell also had a shot at journeying out to a galaxy far, far away as
Han Solo before Harrison Ford landed the role.
He even filmed an audition.
"You can't find Organa Major?"
"Oh I found it… it's… it's just not there."
Instead, he walked away after securing a part in his TV series The Quest, which lasted just
a season.
In 2015, he told Vanity Fair that he doesn't regret the decision, saying,
"As an actor you can't dwell on those things or you'll go crazy.
Things happen for a reason and I'm happy how things turned out in my career.
My life and career may have been different, maybe for better or for worse, if I did Star
Wars, but you can't focus on it.
You move on."
Hey, there's always a sequel to circle back to like Benicio Del Toro did, right?
Speaking of which…
Christopher Lee
Long before he became the unfortunately-named Count Dooku in Attack of the Clones, Christopher
Lee was offered the role of Grand Moff Tarkin in A New Hope.
The part ultimately went to Peter Cushing: his frequent co-star, fellow Hammer Horror
legend, and close friend.
Lee later said that he joined the prequel trilogy because of his admiration for the
imagination that went into the movies, telling TheForce.net,
"I naturally was amazed at the brilliance of George Lucas.
What makes Star Wars so extraordinary is that all the stories, the special effects, the
whole concept, comes from the mind of one man: George Lucas.
The vision is quite amazing."
Sounds like someone signed on before seeing The Phantom Menace.
Gary Oldman
Another actor who walked away from the Star Wars prequel trilogy was Gary Oldman, who
was hired to voice the Jedi-hunting cyborg General Grievous in Revenge of the Sith.
Ultimately, however, Oldman departed due to union conflicts.
A rep for the actor explained,
"George Lucas and gang agreed to hire Gary Oldman if he in fact would become a union
buster, and perform work illegally overseas.
As a resident of America, and also a member of SAG, out of respect and solidarity with
the other members, he could not and would not consider violating his union's rules."
We don't want to know what George Lucas' "gang" looks like, but it probably looks a lot like
bingo night.
The role ultimately went to Matthew Wood, who'd already voiced various Star Wars characters.
Jim Henson
Master puppeteer and gentle soul of Kermit the Frog Jim Henson is owed some serious credit
for the very existence of Yoda.
The Muppet Show was being filmed across the street from Star Wars' London production location,
and Lucas saw an opportunity to work with Henson on a character.
Lucas reportedly consulted with Henson about Yoda's creation, and ended up utilizing some
of the same tech which would later come in handy for Henson's own The Dark Crystal and
Labyrinth.
Lucas even offered Henson the role of Yoda, but Henson was already pressed for time with
his own projects.
Both turned to frequent collaborator and voice of Miss Piggy, Frank Oz, with the opportunity
to star in The Empire Strikes Back instead.
Oz said that when he first saw the character, he just felt right.
Probably because they're basically twins.
Toshirô Mifune
It's no secret that Lucas was inspired by Akira Kurosawa's films, so perhaps it shouldn't
be too surprising to learn that he originally tried to recruit one of the director's biggest
alums to appear A New Hope.
Toshiro Mifune was offered not one but two roles in the Star Wars series: Obi-Wan Kenobi
and Darth Vader.
His daughter revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he turned down the roles because,
"...he was concerned about how the film would look and that it would cheapen the image of
samurai, on which George Lucas had based a lot of the character and fighting style.
At the time, sci-fi movies still looked quite cheap as the effects were not advanced and
he had a lot of samurai pride."
As far as reasons for turning down Star Wars go, "samurai pride" sure beats Burt Reynold's
"I wanted to lock lips with Sally Field."
Leonardo DiCaprio
While Hayden Christensen would ultimately nab the role of Anakin Skywalker in Attack
of the Clones, George Lucas had originally approached future Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio
for the role.
"ah!"
As DiCaprio later told ShortList Magazine,
"I did have a meeting with George Lucas about that.
[I] just didn't feel ready to take that dive.
At that point."
DiCaprio has never been much of a franchise movie guy, but the prequels might've been
very different if he'd made a different decision.
"I'll try spinning that's a good trick"

so today we're going to talk about April
Fool's racism in relationship and a
little bit more about space tech news
welcome back to this week's podcast my
name is Billy Wayne and this is Dan and
this week we have a special guests Joey
Harlem with us hello and if you guys
tune in next week we'll talk more about
Joey and how he got into is actually a
stand-up comedian and we'll talk more
about what he does hey guys I'm fucked
up listen next week to learn more about
Joey this week we're going to talk about
April Fool's since it just passed tell
us about like april fools already guys
think the one prank got like it wasn't
mean that doing it was a another person
that worked right we used to work in the
morning yeah the shitty job yes the way
she did so he'll lift up the toilet seat
like the lid end of seat and he'll put
saran wrap oh that's a classic wait in
the in the customer wine and I'm 41 and
yeah you as well you pull it tight
enough you can't see it was a fucking
chair looking and I think to get fired
no no no I think gah the manager got it
you know she was a lucky one oh man oh
my god didn't get fired yeah she's not
gonna get five years he was an essential
chemo he he was in the kill zone you
needed him there yeah yo she's gonna do
night shifts Mike you gotta do it like
God's do it man I went to the watch I so
I'm like the fuck oh cuz luckily I stand
right and so like I just took it
obviously you see the best thing about
that prank is like it's a 10 minute
prank because you know your God but you
don't you know you're gonna have to tell
people but you have to sit there and
admire your own shit for a little bit
you're like this is my shit in the
missus the closest I'll ever get to my
own shit and then you just buddy the
next time somebody does that to you just
time yourself how long you spend with
your own shit you'll see you'll see that
happen to me once I was there for a
little longer like I waited for my shit
to go to room temperature before I left
and told everybody so wonder how did the
manager reacted like well I think she
was just too tired to even care because
it's like five in the morning also this
was a night shift oh I see
you're right yeah so what do you guys
like what do you guys think well April
Fool because I feel like it's kind of
like overplayed now at this point cuz
everyone knows it's getting everyone's
like expecting things that happened but
so many companies still try to do it
right I feel like we should be
concentrating on other world issues like
the arms race yeah you're right I think
that it definitely is everybody knows
their for one like I know a week out
that like I got to be careful yeah you
can't go on facebook right like break up
with my girlfriend take my death and
parents for sure like this week out I
gotta do those things yeah I think it's
almost like a novelty now for like these
tech companies that is doing for fun
almost like some of the stuff is so
bullshit is not even its is there's no
way to believable anymore it's just for
the joke yeah I don't know back in the
day is a lot more fun because you didn't
expect it I think it's where kids two
were a bit more douchey so we did a lot
of stupid shit to each other and when we
weren't looking at calendars remember
how long summers were when you're afraid
you're like 17 months man can't wait
dude when December ok I don't think I
knew what all the months were until last
year I'm 25 guys I know that March comes
after june or something yeah but on the
same note though about tech companies
Google actually like two years ago did
something with their google maps they
put like pokemon on it right and if you
kind of like looked for and found all of
them like a Pokemon master certificate
or something they'll mail you like a
plank combat sorry I plaque so from that
simulated hear a story on webwork use it
for something yeah so from that the game
pokemon go actually came about right and
it was one of like the biggest and
craziest things like if you ever like
are in Toronto you go went down to Jack
Layton right that was like crazy at
harbourfront yeah there was like
hundreds of people there just like
everywhere yeah I remember trying to
like I remember trying to I was on a
date with a girl if she's huge into
pokemon and go and I'm like trying to
get to our she's like now there's a
squirrel but what know how many sisters
do you have this is fertile oh my god
I told her though I'm like you know what
oh I will get this app if you guys see a
tentacle if you there's a tentacle
nearby i will download that app RN just
to get it why why the temp too cool ok
bro c'mon man really why cuz up it was
like okay no bad ass feels like that's a
one poem I really don't care about my it
looks cool but are you ever gonna use it
more tentacle for me man whatever is
because you want to eat it yeah I love
you Monica I want a laser squid for sure
so I want she was big into it though man
she'd really everywhere Shanna finding a
tentacle I think sure I think so but by
that point I was too invested in how
much I loved her is that no matter go
well natural rest of my life knowing a
bigger voter weird did you guys pull I'm
playing on right now I've got a fucking
shiny magikarp so I have to keep playing
now hear that guys shiny magikarp I just
played for a while too and I went out
with Wayne a few times as well just a
play on us she can't really get into or
this broken a lot to in the morgue
unionville Main Street it was like just
flooded with people that I was like the
biggest I've ever seen you know the
magic Markham is Asian as hell right so
there's probably people going everywhere
for them for the listeners at home
Markham unionville is a I guess you'd
call it a try naraba suburban er yeah
it's not as hip soon as you can get in
Mario it's Chinatown but nobody's on a
bike with more than six bags ok think
about it like that buddy got a nice
house it's pretty interesting like
seeing all the people out there and so
for that but it everyone's just on their
phones yeah it was very weird it was
like it's like zombies like kind of like
walking around yeah I remember going to
like yonge and finch area there was like
so many people just like walking around
the condos like in swarms and it's just
like it looked like a little tornado
like well people walking everywhere I
saw Morris so specifically when we were
at univille because back then this was a
vision Pokemon vision that was really
big telecine ordered the Pokemon once
one person found out where the fucking
uh which profiles again guys think
Gengar yes so you see a wonder staring
at the phone slowly walking to the area
as the most darkest desert area too so
it seemed like someone gonna kill them
he'll at the back church and shit oh my
god you are but if you like that close
to which is something Bad's gonna happen
it was worse because I have my two
little cousins with sincere it was funny
though you have to go down there I go
there there's something in there we were
like trying to figure out where it was
but as soon as we started to see like
people so I'd change directions like
zombies if I don't see what sound or
like there it is yeah and then how big
it is while we were there we saw an
ambulance they weren't picking one up
they were playing pokemanz oh oh good so
I walk by the window like I like hey are
you guys playing pokemon go and if I
girls laughing like you like oh my god I
tax dollars Wow in the radio up and it
was at that moment I caught a tentacruel
oh okay the like they're a little guy
right no the big one okay cruel it's
cool and then cruel yeah yeah I remember
that that was like I thought like
Pokemon goal was like a life-changing
thing because it was so like fun right
like like what you guys just described
about like traveling like we're walking
to random places I remember like going
to the North Korea town right north very
deep hole man look at that guy's Jeannie
really are you hit really assume he
thumbs that this is like kim jongmin kim
jungeun now he must be slacking of this
so many p was escaping to create a town
in toronto no little little south korea
de not fucking brilliant oh yeah so
there was a one time like we were there
and then there was almost like a
stampede because someone like saw a
Vaporeon right oh yes see in this is so
saturated reporting on wolf back then
when the game was like a week or two
every was craziness like someone
literally screamed they Corey Hart and
pointed in a direction and then from
every direction people came out of
nowhere it started running you know it'd
be really cool if you could you if you
had to use your phone as a pokeball yes
and I saw the videos where it was a
Justin Bieber but no one was around
because everyone's going for the
charizard yeah I was did that like
without the one in Times Square I don't
probably you know it's the funniest
thing about that all that time was
watching people walk into shit oh yeah
yeah I remember we were at Geneva let's
not be walking through one of those all
those times yes Ellie stop signs it's
not being going he's just like fuck and
you know what amber was huge I walked
into the sunset with my girlfriend hello
there you guys like I'm never gonna feel
that I remember like people stopping in
the middle of the road oh they didn't
care yeah there was going on here that
was the most people were going to other
people's properties it did good for
business though they're not really yeah
man there were a lot of people who are
just loitering it makes it look good and
they also here store as well pure
getting shot people were like crashing
and narrow people were getting shot
we're getting robbed I was getting
robbed be eradicated someone people
didn't get shot because a lot of people
playing pokemon door like going onto his
property so he took a gun oh okay is it
like I do you mean us no no no in
interio i think in ontario what the shit
no I could be lying now no oh no I did I
did remember hearing his stories
somebody shooting a 12-gauge over the
head off of money though some districts
Ontario somewhere in the north where
guns are more in North Korea North Korea
Syria wow that's crazy uber businesses
be good to like they're driving people
around catching pokemon yeah and then
they were chartering buses to bring
people from marking down to Kathleen I
seriously I mean local bus yeah looking
bucks to get down for like five six
hours and then go back up people are
making crazy businesses around this
thing because I remember the young the
robot can barely write power bank we're
sold you know little battery to charge a
plan yeah fucking prices went up I I
fell for it too oh wow that is I did not
think of that someone made a made one
that looked like a pokeball so you just
plug it into the pokeball and yeah
that's that way that's okay my gosh
because normally that's the power banks
are made so I kept in your pocket you're
not going to fit a fuck
pokeballs your pocket unless you want to
look like you got a bolt that's a cool
and that looks like pokedex where you
put your phone into it open it up that's
pretty lame that was your tender no
absolutely not you should buy a
girlfriend that if she was so into
pokemon oh yeah they'll be a great gift
idea just get her ash ketchum time no I
track you know what I think I can find
her that so don't ruin that for her but
we went to the X and that buddy I'm so
shitty at kearney games I tried with all
my heart and soul to get repeat at you I
love and energy turned around I paid
money i just paid a guy off a car named
I maybe twenty dollars give me that
fucking piece right you know you do you
don't you do me a big issue and then
pretend like I want something you gotta
follow my strategy i'm pretty sure i
mentioned before you finally gained that
has the most kids plane and then you
beat their ass I'm no idea what you
think that's good okay all right no I'm
going to use that next time a little bit
of a degenerate game where you end up
losing now you lose what they're really
good fuck I've lost you know you're not
as good as a coin gambler as I am you
won't see them they're good kids who
play the a whack-a-mole some of them are
fucking my head man someone more
cheaters too hey calm down if they have
someone excellence is not occupied go
just used to fucking cheaters yeah we
got play fear fucking bitches I'd like
my three Dodgers oh my god went down the
toilet I can see you a lay-by see here
kid she's just like fucking with it you
know it's the worst I'm doing kid with
the hammer ok I'm amra liking where you
have to throw and break the place Taub
ace boy yeah yeah god no i'm not back
before you get to do that game
emasculate you if you do not care oh
yeah you're not a man unless you can hit
a plate first time I played I hit them
both I felt so good I kept playing two
hundred dollars later nothing not your
hundred dollars because that's the first
I felt invincible feel all right there
daddy's invincible and I can do it again
what to hug you would think like a
hundred dollars later someone will tell
you to stop as twin dolls a game but 200
alter their usually I'm I am x covert at
the time right do you really want
yeah but that's usually my go-to game
actually yeah yeah I usually win within
ten dollars likely it's like five bucks
a game so no otherwise which one's your
plane which will turn are you playing
throwing it at the place it's easier
than throwing at the beer bottle yeah
yeah so I've been doing the bottles too
maybe they have different games to with
different prizes prizes but I had a
pretty good size Stewie I know the
plates it's more you can you got throw a
lighter but you're forgetting the
bottles you have to throw like like the
pen on or else it's just come bounce off
eating carnies guys beating carnies
that's how what we're trying to learn
today damn and kids tell you what you're
saying is instead of taking the baseball
and throwing out a plate you take it and
throw that children as they have a toy
oh yeah that you know that's true it's
easier to hit the kids steal a toy and
target target's bigger so you're not
paying twenty bucks here's here's a
trick so the balloon game when you throw
the darts all you do is you take the
darts and you stabbed the car you want
you want to bleed to death and laughing
enjoyed it same thing with a rifle gear
just oh you know I tried so hard I tried
so hard when they game every year if you
guys played the um you know that bottle
when you have a stick and a little
circle and try to pick it up yeah my
mom's a really good game Chris the guy
that instructs you on how to do it is so
fucking good at that game because you
know what he's there for like 10 hours a
day yep what are you gonna you gonna
practice you like told you to he like
place so the imagine the bottle is like
in any like kind of position he's like
oh all you have to do to fix it is just
do this in this and pick it up there on
be so pro like there's another game
where it's they don't have to skin for
like one or two years right where do the
bike don't run one way it goes the other
way so here our intuitive right I try
that is so fucking hard yeah it's all be
doing it looks like it's the fuckin
easiest thing in the world I do it I'm
down on my ass like I never felt so
stupid trying to ride a bike in my
fingers the prize is a fucking electric
scooter who had to go for it they're
smart man these carnies are buddy
microtransactions just my comfort I
security people over on the daily
necessarily we have is about racism and
dating so basically this article sums up
how online dating is a fairly racist and
it's disadvantaged for black women
and Asian men I thought it's gonna be
while you're doing the person he races
against them no no it's about basically
uh like matching on online dating like
everyones using tenderness up right now
I don't know like what okcupid plenty of
idiot kind of stuff like plenty of squid
in my right boys I love calamari they're
pretty much saying that like black women
has a good least amount of matches and
stuff of that and same with same with
Asian men women of all racial
backgrounds tend to love white men so
they're they're like because white is
right I'm getting um so one of the
studies was that this was based on I
guess there's a human matchmaking thing
or so then we actually go to a person
and they have profiles other they set
you up with people so it's not through
the online stuff basically that you have
right now they set you up based on your
preferences and everything you tell them
like I'm looking for this type of person
this I person although it's already a
whole bunch of people yeah and a lot of
stuff was like men who is seemingly open
to dating anyone and everyone eventually
add in except black women Wow ok and
then women who often want a nice kind
man with no real physical preference I
end up adding at the end with the
exception of agents but that's promotes
description the reasons this is messed
up so Eddie Wong yes yeah known from
which I shall fresh off the boat fresh
off the boat yes is like bauhaus is so
for that Hugh is quoted saying
attractiveness is a very half as a dish
that can to be boiled down to height or
skin color but asian men are told that
regardless of what the ID like my
reports is or even some big-ass words
they would like oh these are your
ingredients society tells us that black
women are hyper sexual but also more
masculine than other women while
suggests that Asian men are less
masculine to the point of being
effeminate and that they are physically
less attractive that was by chantal bugs
a PhD candidate in sociology at the
University of Texas fuck her by kids are
great because I think that that's saying
about like black women are too masculine
Asians are two in masculine is it's just
an idea that floats around a lot right
then you actually meets along one-on-one
I don't think anyone actually gets that
feeling right like it's just so much in
society yeah it's just like Jackie Chan
is a woman right I think it's also the
way that the media portrays us yeah like
it's not often that you see like really
strong Asian Millie what what Bruce Lee
he's like epitome of like Marilyn racial
but then he stereotyped as like martial
arts but masculinity is not necessarily
about if you can kick someone's ass
masculinity is about dominance in a
sense right where you dominate all those
guys that you kicked their ass that's
got cake yeah but yeah the the way the
story was told if not you know yeah it's
a very like site like he just slips in
there and few kicks no I just think I
think it's the stereotype for like a the
male physique their small enormous
skinny the nerds like relative to all
the other like guys out there thinking
of Asian characters in a movies that we
see the one guy that stands out to me is
like even in harold and kumar Darnell
yeah his character was kind of a bit
different in terms of the way that they
portrayed agents but then he also had a
lot of the Asian stereotypes everyone
yeah so it's really interesting the way
that he was like his queda the best of
both worlds I'd say everything that made
him funny like he was very i would say
level-headed and very like almost
tactical decisions he was making in the
movie but at the same time yeah kind of
effeminate a little bit effeminate there
I'm insecure I just watched the movie
the Power Rangers movie recently I don't
know if you guys saw that ever I have to
do with the gate spoiler um it better be
good dan I'm gonna fucking kick someone
right now it's like good for power
ranges oh wait am I very like really
like its power rangers like what do you
expect from Power Ranger said what what
my expectations are so low go expect an
oscar-winning programmers the Megazord
quite worth it I don't know I have some
mixed opinions on the Megazord fight
okay and the way that the Megas web
looks and stuff for that God but I
thought it was really interesting the
way that they portrayed characters in we
have one of the guys at the Asian right
yes the black major is Asian the blue
ranger is black what's a shake it before
going for Dean or the black Ranger the
original didn't have a middle finger
yeah I thought that iteration and then
you things like so when he was a black
Ranger was that finger there I think
about that to the bank nothing you know
how you assumed it wasn't there no cuz
it's not it's there because it's someone
else in the costume oh so I'm like
sewing you know morph you know what's it
was a boyfriend time yeah I guess you
get to fingertip you morphed a finger
yeah yeah but remember that little boy
he morphed into a man the little the
little boy little blue ranger boy please
don't remember I remember how mind you
are we watching the same yeah man
there's a power do the blue power
rangers or anything don't do you watch
your original cuz when i watch out
rather it was not the original it's the
one after or then the same thing cuz
original for me i was a renowned watch
dear so you were like no I original demo
whatever the dinosaur one yeah does not
the original SI another result you
generate Tyrannosaurus ok goodbye you
guys are talking about Dino time the
Dino time just there's well I don't the
Power Rangers went through numerous
changes and one of them was a dyna
dinosaur like it was a weird not the
dinosaur original pair it was like a
look at time time time force dinosaur
hey you want to talk about that West
Side Story so like jet force Gemini time
for Tess or whatever you don't I wrote
yeah well the Asian character in this
movie in the Power Rangers movie was
actually very non stereotypical at all I
was in the fact that he lives with his
mom still today mom Kris sick but
otherwise let me a good sunday he has a
very strong like character and like he's
like a punk he's like a rebel all moan
right so like other than that fact like
you and you could've cast him as any
other race really good it's pretty
interesting yeah i think if movie star
portraying asians differently like do
you think it's going to change society's
like point of view I think so but I
don't think I'm gonna be taking weed in
the next die hard I don't think it's
from entertainment that's absolutely
independent up no it's absolutely
entertainment I mean media has so much
to do with the way we look at things mmm
means but you were walking stereotypes
and people make a make those decisions
because of films because of TV you know
why people are rich you know and it's
just not and that's there like everybody
has their own thing their own box yeah
and Power Rangers the white ranger
apparently apparently is the most
powerful because white is right I fan
everybody i was listening i am an asian
man i know i sound like a white guy and
this is gonna sound really weird but I
am ting ting Asian for sure I from
so I said before that white men were the
the most preferred amongst women amongst
men as for men in this room right now
who do you think were the most preferred
races for many a four gig no no I'd like
white guys big white guy fan for sure a
kind of women do guys generally prefer
mmm I like white girls man but it's only
because there's a good chance they'll
have a cottage that's the only yeah I
watch too I've had it all man not it
sorry I don't mean to objectify women
well i think was asking me if you if you
were a girl what kind of goat you want
oh no one can identity that really girls
do you think guys generally prefer are
you actually bisexual though yes I this
will actually make this a lot use your
head you can answer both then yeah i
just said white guys because they have a
higher chance of having a cottage okay
same same thing it's the only reason
such a stereotype though the fact that
is a fact cottage to white person rate
ratio is kylie is pretty high high like
some of them have to thank you i think
it's like a ninety percent obviously one
hundred and twenty percent one guy who
system had an island can you listen to
that guys oh my god that's a mac and
cheese money right there yeah like if I
Asian had a cottage probably ahead in
China so Wayne are you like
attractiveness specifically like over
another one or well for me it's just um
III stay within my culture to tell
people yea votes Wayne just square dance
around erase ish culture is pretty my
culture is pretty important to me so I
would like to keep it like within doll
line okay okay yellow is mellow and all
of that much like if I have a family
portrait everyone looks great okay i
prefer way you think
Oh gobo did you hear that beginning with
the photo like this say shit you know
you have a trout like now the black
really just takes the yellow right out
of this bonus knows like can you also
have those families that like their own
cock yeah remember he owes parents no
not recently like the Alabama and then
everyone looks slightly different
because you know and then everyone
judges but he shouldn't oh yeah but
that's the thing if that judgment
happens and those people are begs a shit
and then you say to yourself oh well I
can't believe you're in my blood number
four missiles just a cultural thing
though like you have like certain
cultural traditions normally it's like
if you want to like keep going with that
normally it's yeah the child if there's
that less certain nationality you know
they'll go with us key with a culture
yeah a lot of cultures are just don't
fuck black people and it's just only
want to call it just stay within but
that's really what they're trying to say
well we'll just expand on a little bit
of wayne saying 20 cacao joins them go
join them now we're gonna watch dandy
personally I'm attracted to like all
races as well too I'm actually more
attracted to asians and Latinas but I'm
I think black girls are hot brown girls
are hot whatever there's a hot write
personally in terms of like if I was to
look into a future with somebody I
prefer asian because because of the
culture aspect but not in the same way
that waiting is looking at it but more
so but more so I know that my family is
very traditional and like sometimes they
do some batshit crazy stuff and if
you're not asian as well you just not
gonna understand these things and you're
going to think that I'm fucking crazy or
like part of some cult you are fuckin
every day so you are part of a crazy
it's like trying to explain to like a
white girl why we eat like duck ankles
and shit so ankles duck ankle like the
ankles specifically of a doll hugs it
was one thing but God but that's culture
yeah but like you find somebody who is
that though
isn't that gold if you find somebody
who's willing to books dentist yeah sure
yeah buddy you heard embryos haha Jimmy
I'll believe you though yeah I gotta
talk my girlfriend into a family that
just drinks Budweiser and eats like
chicken abortions Joseph Asians loving
Budweiser I don't guess I because it's
Americana fucking Chevy Orange is really
whenever I'm trying to best Holly drank
yeah you love them we love Americana and
budweiser is just American I'm still
trying to find it to try pollute you
want to try blood I will totally gate
it's blah blah whatever literature all
right I've always been told us balut no
no he's right but lot okay so we
actually do want to do this for our
podcast as well to like I don't know
maybe when we hit one of our milestones
we're gonna eat bullet yeah well we'll
do it yeah I'm gonna call it i'm gonna
eat balut well do i will be called the
bullet night and they will all have
Budweiser and we'll get unloaded before
we get away from this racism and dating
thing because we're talk about matching
the year did your school like high
school have that matchmaking thing
during valentines day matic making
things like you put in a dolly like you
know yeah I hated that fucking shit cuz
it brought my hopes up well you're
hoping real can happen is like saying I
metrics her fucking shit I'm down you're
DTF yeah nine years old evil yeah my
name is all nice clothes I mean shit
doesn't happen no cuz like it seems like
when you look at that sheet as a high
school student you can talk to all the
most popular kids it's like I'm a
traitor I hope she sees this oh ok i
thought it was like everyone writes like
who they like if something's I feel like
you write like a personality shed ok I
remember that was dumb I wasn't too busy
fucking my math teacher yeah so
basically what this article is saying is
I don't know we're probably all in
agreement there but white is right ok um
oh the question was are you racist if
you aren't open to dating everyone ok
and what I enum philosophy class there's
something called negative racism and
positive racism I think that would be
something called pas glory which one do
you have Wayne no
I'm people think of racism is always
about the negative when you're yeah
talking bad about one race but then
there's something called positive racism
which is not any better but the way you
think about it is that you want you
prefer this one race they say so you're
Chinese Billy I think all right and then
if you just say yeah chinese people get
this good at that like bring chinese
people like up right that's cause racism
piercing they're better than everyone
else but you're not really bad guy in
any specific reason so there's that just
like pro your people rather than like
yeah what you're still racism yeah
people don't talk about that right
because like how Koreans are like Thank
You ru current uh yeah I met my ex
girlfriend when I moved in with who
ruined me uh sorry they cut too deep uh
I'm kidding him over am I I know I
remember she told me once she's like
yeah I just don't date black guys Wow
she just casually dropped that is if it
was nothing in my you ever build one
were you offended well yeah I was
offended for my black friends I'm like
you gotta get in this guy she's great
but no I remember saying like like
hearing that and saying like that's so
weird like to just realize why my
diggings bursa yeah there was a moment
where I'm like this is somebody just
outright blocked out a group of people
hmm ah just based on their color based
on a color and based on for any reason
it's just that's absurd and I deserve
it's like why would you say no to that
and like well you're lame it's just it
was stupid and I didn't know what the
time had to handle it I was stuck I was
living with her sounds like great now I
live with the racist a vegan racist I'm
curious though because you mentioned
something about culture earlier right
like when you will you date across
culture or no cost races there's a
culture difference right so I wonder if
that like kids you're mentioning Joey
that was it could be a good thing right
because you kind of expand and if
someone found and sounds good right
because I always think of that as a
positive thing is it any kind of new and
different thing is always good right
buddy open the door yeah the best way
like if you've got somebody's willing to
communicate and try those things with
you the world is yours it's an adoptable
at that point because if you if you lock
yourself in your culture if you lock
yourself in your family while you're
you're saying like your family's crazy
yeah right you don't want to expose the
world to eating duck ankles or whatever
but what if you had someone who was like
no that's cool yeah if they were cool
isn't I'll be cool tattoo exactly right
at that point yet to look at that say
but what else what else what other
possibilities that open up not just
within culture within my relationship
what other great things can we do that I
didn't think that I'd want to do right
this person would bring into my life
like I didn't like roller coasters now I
love roller coasters that kind like that
kind of stuff can happen if you open
your door to new things but you have to
have that risk you have to put your foot
out and be like this is scary but you're
gonna do you got to try it yeah that
risk of the biggest part because it's
very awkward to kind of expose your
weird cultural habits to someone else
right buddy I don't want anybody to hear
my grandfather talk about black people I
don't ever want it to happen yeah but I
hope that somebody is open-minded enough
to understand like this guy came from a
very plank it's strange over there and
yeah they're a little racist and also
low light if you can just take out on a
humorous side like you understand the
situation and you kind of kind of laugh
at that right yeah isn't extremely
racist old like Filipino guy and also
you don't need to be defined by your
culture one hundred percent mmm you can
even bring certain points in but I'll
tell you that it is absurd to be defined
completely by your like your family's
legacy like if I if I'm going to say oh
yeah my family is all me my blood is
everything then you're also paying
you're also under the umbrella of their
sins as well you were going to pay for
everything bad that they have done which
everybody's family is guilty I've got
thieves in my family I'm not like what
am I them now am I in my a thief because
there are thief now they eat duck eggs
aight duck eggs sometimes I'm not my dad
part my dad I don't know my dad I'm part
my mom but you don't I mean like you
don't need to be one hundred percent
represented by your family not all the
time and it's not a bad thing you could
still have your culture but still have
your identity this is a new world where
we have to start thinking that way
that's just the way I look at it good
shit so would you consider me and Wayne
a racist absolutely wait you consider
the range racist and it's not requester
would you consider
are we just save me i would say Wayne is
racist but I also might not be that's
why I would say Oh cheese open your
doors right guys yeah like our the
question here that ad was like are we
the product of a racist society so I
think definitely we are what I've
lightweight so cuz I'm wondering like so
if you have a preference for like a
certain look to someone is that racist
because that's what is what do you mean
let me a certain look for someone so
like if you grew up in Asia right yeah
you're only exposed to like the shows
and dramas of the Asian community right
you always want to come here the only
date asians because that's why you're
familiar with and all of a sudden like
you're given an opportunity to date
someone else outside your culture but
you say no because you're so used to you
know what's your offer I have had a
friend her grandmother prefer her to
date white guys why I don't know money
because she like you know she just came
out of juice you must you just think
white guys look better so it was like
I've heard that a lot to like women in
Asia it's okay for them to date white
men specifically white men / asian
because they're seen as people with like
more power and more money down for the
very hesitant to say in the Philippines
it's the same thing and there's people
with my buddy who traveled over there he
said Filipino women were literally
giving me babies we're handing me babies
well because it's like like literally
yeah because the thing is over here in
canada we have everything to countries
like the Philippines where they have
nothing it's like if you if this guy
brings us this kid over there he's made
he's gonna be fine and then if we get
married we have a family he probably has
a job he traveled you mean it's such a
different is a clash in culture here we
have everything to them but here what we
sell to pay bills and stuff it's like
it's not not that easy yeah so they they
like the idea of what oh what guy hasn't
been over like what the reality of thing
is because we know the reality because
we live here right they're being just as
racist by doing by doing it strange it's
funny but it's true you're like thinking
that all white people we're going to
save us and I think that's the positive
race yet i will you talking about
definitely a thing moving on to SpaceX
news so this past week SpaceX action
launched a rocket their Falcon 9 for the
SES 10 mission so this mission actually
is a historic mission because it's the
first time that the first stage that was
recovered previously was launched again
so that means that the bottom part of
the rocket that was previously launched
last April was retested make sure
everything's okay and launched again so
under akut had never been launched twice
before ours time in history that is a
wrap they reused condom yeah it's
amazing impossible well yeah so the
design of their I think current rocket
is supposed to be able to fly 10 times
ok so it's built as reusable yeah so the
cost of a general Rockets roughly around
fifty percent to sixty percent is that
bottom part right so if they can reuse
it over and over and over again it's
essentially like when airplanes first
existed right imagine you can only fly
an airplane once and then throw it away
that's not a very like Goodwin helpful
yeah yeah it's not very good right so if
they flew the airplane across the
Atlantic after it landed it basically
got destroyed and couldn't fly again
right so in order for us to travel to
space we need something that's reusable
we need something that can bring the
cost down to something that we can all
actually pay for ray so the current
design is up to 10 uses but I can see
that in the future design where new
materials get invented like where new
methods get done so we can use this up
to thousands of times right and we're
just like flying up to space is just
like like a flying an airplane right now
right god damn mankind when are you
gonna stop worrying about how much
things cost and just do it imagine if
everybody work together and was just
like now you know what let's just do it
give these guys a million rockets yeah
that'll be great like if we can like fly
anywhere we want oh so fun it's like we
talked about this i think like two weeks
he'll where I was talking to you guys
about wanting to be on the moon they
don't want to be on the moon I'll like
fuck the mood no I I understand that's
not the way I think of it it's like the
Grand Canyon you look at it for two
seconds and squish it but looking to do
after that you're not like you're
looking at it it's true done oh yeah I
can die here my kids can go to the moon
that's it but yeah that's like
groundbreaking stuff like the cost of it
isn't going to be like amazingly cheap
like future costs they predict is gonna
be a hundred grand still but you know
All Things Considered 50 million
compared to millions and impossible to
reach now that's pretty good right yeah
it's pretty crazy I think we still need
a we still a lot to go in terms of like
you know funding space a lot of our
stuff should be going towards that and
finding a renewable energy resources i
guess but i mean like this is really
cool but it's just still so far away we
don't feel like congratulations yeah you
launched it twice and you landed on a
pad in the middle of water have you seen
the movie at this thank you yeah or like
all these other space movies I wish I
didn't see the space movies because then
this this would be so much more amazing
but I think just this alone like kids
right now watching it like the next gen
really inspired to go be so it's like
you've our generation whether the IRI
sake I'm not and they'll think backs
like me didn't reuse a rock exactly like
what a bunch of idiots like it why would
you throw it away you're not eating your
shit down the toilet thank you all the
protein in the second submission bother
you for the fuel why I watch it when I
was young I used to throw away my toe
jam somebody we're eating bugs green
bugs now don't worry this is cool man
but uh is it SpaceX is a Elon Musk yeah
there's they're predicting to go to Mars
send a human to Mars by 2028 should be
one motherfucker up ten years yeah
they're they're behind already by two
years old David so here to get to Mars
there's a lot open every two years
because of the distance away from each
other so every two years you can launch
one efficiently so they've already
missed the window so it's 5 2013 Oh miss
the window yeah oh my god it sounds so
spooky you have to go in the keyhole
yeah I think we have to hit the keyhole
I'm I the only one who looks at elon
musk and says like what if he used his
powers for like bad evil you imagine
like if he was just a Bond villain but
be like a black iron man yeah I again we
don't know yet wait isn't there already
of black iron man you know world war
machine yet but I'm a conservation
oh no it races to name and war machine
hey red guys Captain America ferrous
iron man oh yes sir I'm Jake uh-oh
Marvel's gonna kill me that is a bit
races actually there cover my point is a
violent one yeah one no but war machine
comes provide a mini guns not very well
for the army I know what it's called war
machines never cause for war yeah but
Iron Man is just named iron man that's a
very because he gave himself his own
name hey told me the wiring for all I
know well there's also that UFC fighter
named that call themself war machine
that you know Peter his girlfriend yeah
come on man I guess he looks like a
douche oh you like all these way yes
cats all over them okay all have cats
all over them yeah they make some fight
better it's like saying putting the
house on a car makes it give it imagine
the ice cream looks dismissed as a
grenade on it it's explosive oh man so
what does this mean for smell anything
um it means that space stuff is going to
get a lot cheaper like so doing this
like you'll be moving faster now yeah
exactly so this this means that other
companies who have to do this mm-hmm are
looking at it and going oh fuck because
because the missions i used to be ran
here by another company and there was
only one company before that ever did
space stuff and they had no competition
so for them their prices are like I
think like five times what SpaceX says
that they can use to put a put a rocket
up to space right so now looking at this
the other companies probably panicking
and going shit we gotta really die our
house + space exploration no work so now
that they have this technology well this
technology be shared amongst all the
other ones to work as a base so they can
all like as our group know it over there
because their private company so the
other part they want here I mean why not
you know flush this device down every
like this idea out to everybody and make
it a free source the open source but
capitalism the time example is a man
kept those wall listen I believe someone
asked you on that before and he said
that because they work with NASA its
national security that they can't
release their technology or all other
companies and other countries like
Russia to get out there first yes they
would if they did it though then it'd be
like hey cool man show
hey did it awesome bro here yeah if
there were all of that great i'll be so
good oh my god so dumb i everybody just
wants to do things first if i found a
way diff I if I ever like make I cook at
home like I'm a really huge fan of of
cooking for men rents like I don't cook
for myself I usually just eat shit when
I'm alone but when it comes to like when
my friends coming by I'll go to the tits
I don't give a fuck all cause I'll spend
a hundred dollars on everybody because I
want everybody to have that good of a
time it's just when I figure something
out it took me like five years to trade
the spaghetti sauce so I'd been I'd like
spokes like five different Italian
people and ask them what made they're
known as sauce the best and I took
elements of everything made a really
good meatball and I perfected the simple
sauce is really good simple easy sauce
anybody could make when I was mastered I
told everybody all my friends like guys
come over and make you spaghetti we're
gonna have this bread and eat the
spaghetti and drink wine and it's a
fucking at me like Jesus man yes are you
honey but if you just did that with
everything in the world if everybody
just like here's the rocket here's
here's it working here's 10 uses yeah
well everybody let's just work together
and try to get a hundred uses at its run
it and make it with twenty-five percent
less you know how much it costs to do it
yeah that would that would be a perfect
world and I don't think there will be
any wars or anything about world
yesterday there'd be a lot of other
things that wouldn't be in the way worse
yeah I don't know yeah I don't know why
they don't want to share this tube is
for safety reasons like there are
countries like North Korea and stuff out
there that want to basically kill
everyone else if they had the
opportunity right in the corner ha
alright that's it for space guys well

BMW M4 GTS technical walk around - Duration: 4:34.
Well here we are, face to face to the new BMW M4 GTS.
We're going to build 700 units and 25 of those units, it's a good message, are coming
to Australia, but I think they are already sold.
I think with the M4 GTS there are two main innovations in the car.
Of course, one is the water injection, but the second one is that for the first time
ever we have organic LED taillights, so organic LED lights in a series production car.
So, that is a world first in the M4 GTS as well.
Well, what does water injection do?
Water injection means that we inject water into the intake manifold.
And why do we do that?
Normally if you are in a super sports car or in a sports car and you drive very fast
the air intake temperature goes up, so you have to put compression and injection and
ignition in a way that you don't have any knocking, not even at high rev high temperature
situations.
Now by using the water injection we can cool down the temperature and keep it at a lower
level, which means we only need it if we go over 5,500rpm at race track circumstances.
But by doing that we can change the engine to a situation where it has more horsepower
and more torque, without using more fuel, by the way.
So, that's why it got forbidden for racing in the past.
If you look at the front splitter and the rear spoiler, they are adjustable so that
you can use different aerodynamics for different racetracks, depending on what track you are
on.
And also, you can see at the bonnet that we have a steady airflow which is also good,
not only for cooling but also for aerodynamics.
For the first time ever we offered a carbon fibre wheel as an option from a manufacturer's
side, not as an after-market solution.
Almost half of our customers ordered this wheel.
Well, carbon ceramic brakes on this car are mainly for two reasons.
Of course, performance, because this car goes up to 305km/h and has absolute track capabilities.
And on the other hand, of course, weight reasons, because we took out approximately 6kg regarding
the, in regard to the compound steel aluminium brakes that we do have as a standard.
If we talk about lightweight it's all about carbon fibre, it's about aluminium, it's
about titanium.
And if you look at the car behind me it starts with the front splitter which is made out
of carbon fibre.
It continues with the bonnet which is made out of carbon fibre.
It continues with the roof made out of carbon fibre.
On the side you see the wheels made out of carbon fibre on this car.
And it ends with the plastic tailgate and also a diffuser in carbon fibre and an exhaust
system in titanium.
So, that's what you see right away if you look at this car.
It definitely sounds different than a normal M4 because it's got a titanium exhaust system
which weighs 12kg less, which is a lot of weight taken out.
But also, you hear it because the vibrations are completely different.
This is the first M4 that comes with a fully adjustable suspension.
You can adjust the right height at front and rear axle and you can adjust compression and
rebound from the dampers as well.
We changed the door panels.
We took out all the not necessary parts for racing and made very simple lightweight interior
parts for the door panels, and those door panels are made from the Navarro material
which is also used on the I3 project.
Well, the devil definitely is in the detail and the most simple way to look at that is
to look at the Nürburgring lap time, because that's 7 minutes 28 seconds.
There's a nice YouTube live video of that and you can see how easy it is to drive that
car very fast on the Nürburgring, but 7 minutes 28 seconds is in the super sports car segment.
It is my favourite M car when I want to be very fast and have fun.
If I go for longer distance I take another one.

What The Cast Of Matilda Looks Like Today - Duration: 6:22.
Matilda was released more than two decades ago, but the super-kid's story is still as
compelling today as it was back then.
Based on the Roald Dahl novel of the same name, Matilda was a bittersweet little story.
It became legendary with kids for its willingness to go there with its baddies of all brands.
So, after 20 years of fandom, let's take a look at what the cast of Matilda has been
up to lately.
Mara Wilson
The star of Matilda was Mara Wilson, who'd already made a name for herself in movies
like Mrs. Doubtfire and Miracle on 34th Street by the time she starred as the girl genius
in this flick.
After Matilda, Wilson went on to star in A Simple Wish and enjoyed a few more roles in
television and online series.
However, she officially retired from film acting after her role in Thomas and the Magic
Railroad in 2000.
She later described film acting as "not very fun," on her blog, and has instead turned
her focus to writing.
She maintains her website, Mara Wilson Writes Stuff, and released her book Where Am I Now?
in September 2016.
Pam Ferris
She may have been terrifying as Agatha Trunchbull, the abusive principal in Matilda, but Pam
Ferris has played a variety of roles.
Harry Potter movie fans might recognize Ferris as the woman who played Aunt Marge in Prisoner
of Azkaban.
And most recently, Ferris starred on the BBC TV series Call the Midwife, where she was
only slightly less terrifying than Trunchbull.
"You young girls do too much book learning, you sit for months in classrooms filling your
heads with loads of codswallop, when simple, practical tasks are beyond you."
Danny DeVito
Not only did Danny DeVito direct Matilda, but he also starred as Matilda's villainous
father Harry Wormwood and served as the film's narrator.
Wormwood was known in the movie for his illegal dealings and constant abuse of Matilda.
But in real life, DeVito's hardly that guy.
These days, most people probably recognize DeVito from his time starring on the TV series
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
DeVito has starred as Frank Reynolds on the show since 2006, and episodes are planned
through at least 2019.
Clearly, DeVito isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
"Ahhhh!"
Rhea Perlman
Daddy dearest wasn't the only terrible parent in the bunch.
Matilda's mother Zinnia, played by Rhea Perlman, also spent her days playing
Bingo rather than taking care of Matilda.
The real-life wife of DeVito for three decades, Perlman has earned prime placement on plenty
of shows — most recently, a recurring stint on The Mindy Project.
She can also be found in the YouTube series Me and My Grandma — and pretty much any
episode of Cheers, of course.
Embeth Davidtz
While Matilda was unlucky in the parental department originally, she lucks out with
her teacher Miss Jennifer Honey, played by Embeth Davidtz.
Miss Honey was the polar opposite of Matilda's birth mother, since she was kind, nurturing,
and attentive.
After Matilda, Davidtz went on to earn several roles in television shows including Amy in
the HBO series In Treatment and Rebecca Pryce in Mad Men.
While Davidtz took some time away from acting after being diagnosed with breast cancer in
2013, fans will recognize her recent work as Sonia in Ray Donovan.
Kiami Davael
Matilda's best friend Lavender was played by Kiami Davael, who couldn't help but draw
out major aws thanks to her large glasses and hilarious newt prank on the principal.
While she may be remembered for her role as Lavender, Davael is also a model, singer,
songwriter, and screenwriter.
Not one to shy from the spotlight, Davael is very active on Instagram.
There, she shares selfies, throwback photos, and fan-submitted content with her over 40,000
followers.
Jacqueline Steiger
Everyone who's ever had braids will remember the iconic scene in Matilda when the Trunchbull
throws Amanda Thripp through the air by her braided pigtails as punishment.
Played by Jacqueline Steiger, Amanda thankfully survives the toss.
But it's in this scene that Matilda first learns just how brutal Trunchbull can be.
Steiger went on to play many roles in television and movies before taking a break to attend
college at UCLA, where she graduated summa cum laude.
She's now on a mission to jump back into the industry, so keep your eyes peeled.
Kira Spencer Hesser
Speaking of the playground scene, that's also where Matilda and Lavender meet Hortensia,
played by Kira Spencer Hesser.
"You squirts better skedaddle.
I'm not kidding.
The Trunchbull likes to snap a whip in there to see who's trying to hide."
Hortensia is an expert on the Trunchbull, and is the person who tells Matilda and Lavender
all about the heinous things the principal has done.
Hesser is still very involved in the industry after a break to get her master's in modern
literature in London.
And she's done everything from stand-up comedy to voice-over work, television hosting, and
short film.
She also hosted Islands Without Cars on PBS.
Jimmy Karz
The character of Bruce Bogtrotter, played by Jimmy Karz, stars in another iconic Matilda
scene you aren't likely to forget.
When Bruce steals a slice of Trunchbull's chocolate cake, he's punished by being forced
to eat the entire thing in front of the whole school, which he does successfully after much
cheering from his classmates.
These days Karz, looks and behaves quite differently from his role as Bruce.
After a small role in The Wedding Singer, Karz set his sights on osteopathic medical
school.
He's come a long way from playing a chocolate-covered kid who steals cake, don't you think?
A class reunion
Twenty years after Matilda was released, the film's actors have gone on to pursue a variety
of paths.
Some are still acting, starring in television and movies.
Others have shifted their sights to modeling or writing, while a few have left the spotlight
completely.
But that doesn't mean they've forgotten the movie that brought them all together.
Mara Wilson shared a group shot of the gang all lined up in Matilda memory, and it's clear
that they all still have a lot of love for each other and they know how to have a good
time — maybe even with some chocolate cake, just for old time's sake.
"Bruce Bruce Bruce Bruce Bruce!"
"Yeah!"
"Silence!"

Science Communication At TubeCon + Two Updates - Duration: 4:34.
Today's video is actually about some science communication I did for a YouTube event
in Spain, so I'll be voicing it in Spanish - but fear not, just hit the closed captions to follow along!
I've also got a couple of updates at the end, one for my European audience,
and one for my Spanish-speaking audience!
Well - it was about time that I made a Spanish video huh? Today I'm going to tell you
about my experience at TubeCon, to which I was invited in mid-February, and I also
have some news that you're going to love at the end of the video so… let's go!
[INTRO]
TubeCon was a unique experience in my opinion, and a very intense one given all of the activities
took place within a single day! Something that impressed me a lot was the emphasis
that TubeCon placed on science communication. In recent times where perhaps dissemination isn't as valued
as it should be, I really appreciate that we were granted the space to carry out the diversity
of science communication activities that many channels carried like,
such as VanFunFun, QuantumFracture, El Robot de Platón, C de Ciencia, JJ Priego (Ciencias de la Ciencia),
Javier Santaolalla (Date Un Voltio), Guillermo Suárez (Físicalímite),
Sígueme la Corriente, Unicoos, and me.
The day began early and with impetus, with various rehearsals and sound checks, and we also
had to get used to the map of the WiZink, the ginormous sport's venue where TubeCon took place. I loved
how they had prepared different sections for all YouTube genres,
from dance and singing, to gaming, beauty, booktube, and of course, science,
which to be honest is what you're going to see in this video because I spent the entire day doing it!
TubeCon opened up at 2, and started strong with a panel led by
our top science creators, and although not as many people were able to attend as they would have liked
due to being the first activity of the day, there were many questions and we solved it anyway
by having another Q&A panel later on.
After that we hurried on the main stage to take part in "Ilustrious ignorants of science",
our special adaptation of the program Ilustres ignorantes.
After the main stage, it was time to take part in two education
and science panels respectively, and we covered topics such as how to be rigurous in the sources of our content,
to whether Lamarckism is present in humans (no)
and why there are so few women in science.
And after that I didn't stop - after the last panel there were threee science talks -.
I was first, and I spoke about the wonderful vision of animals, and Rubén
from Sígueme la Corriente [he challenged me to the battery vid, remember?] followed me speaking about what propelled science to go forwards,
and Guillermo from FísicaLímite with how to build a star
I'm so proud of the work we all did at TubeCon, and it was great to see
so many people interested in widening their horizons and learning new things - and honestly,
I can't wait for the next time we can all talk science together. And of course, I'm very grateful
to my two friends, Cinta and Javi, who supported me throughout the day, and of course,
to TubeCon for inviting us, and to you for giving a purpose to what we do.
I also have news! Because of this, many of you requested me to make content in Spanish
- and from there a new channel has been born: Inés-table (Unstable).
Its content is separate and complementary to that of Draw Curiosity, and if you speak Spanish, I think you'll really like it..
If you don't, don't worry, Draw Curiosity is going on as usual
And, second piece of news! I am going in April (THIS WEEKEND!) to VidCon Europe, in Amsterdam! So if any of you are coming,
creator or viewer, it would be lovely to meet you. I hear there is a "Fan meetup"
on Sunday 9th of April from 6:15 to 7:15 at the Europe Foyer - though obviously
if you see me before then at the event or just about in general, please feel free to say hi!
I'm excited about all three things I spoke about in this video,
because I think it goes to show how many ways you can make an impact with science communication, !
and I am delighted to be a part of that change.
And as always, thank you so much for watching me, and I'll see you in the next one, with a science video!
Bye! [Translated by {your name} into {language}]

How The Ghost In The Shell Characters Should Really Look - Duration: 6:49.
Paramount's big-budget Hollywood adaptation of Masamune Shirow's legendary manga series
Ghost in the Shell has attracted attention for a lot of reasons — and they're not all
good.
The manga has been adapted into several animated movies and TV shows since its 1989 debut,
and they've all deviated from the source material a bit.
But the Scarlett Johansson-led, live-action remake has earned the most attention.
Mostly because someone with the name 'Johansson' doesn't seem like quite the best fit for a
Japanese character.
With talk of Hollywood whitewashing abound, the verdict already seems to be in when it
comes to the leading lady.
But what about the other members of the Section 9 special ops team?
Here's how they should really look.
The Major
Major Motoko Kusanagi is a cyborg whose only organic parts are her brain and spine.
And when she first appeared in Shirow's drawings, she was a slightly immature gunslinger with
bright pink hair and purple eyes.
In the anime, she's given a pretty dour makeover, with black hair and blue-grey eyes.
And thanks to its critical success, the character had become most recognizable as an emotionless
killing machine.
This is the angle director Rupert Sanders and his team of writers have taken with the
live-action film, and it suits Scarlett Johansson well, since she's already portrayed similar
characters in multiple movies.
But, really, we all know what the problem is here.
Johansson addressed the issue of whitewashing in an interview with Marie Claire, explaining,
"[I would] never presume to play another race of a person.
Diversity is important in Hollywood, and I would never want to feel like I was playing
a character that was offensive."
So, while there's no shortage of Japanese actresses with blockbuster experience who
could have taken the role, and Johansson isn't terrible to look at, it's just not true to
the source material.
Batou
Section 9's lead investigator Batou is the franchise's most prominent male character,
and that's never changed.
The same can't be said of his appearance, however.
He's had both a shaved head and a ponytail on occasion, though the short-tempered gearhead
is best known for his white crew cut.
Hollywood has opted to keep Batou short and trim just as he was in the 1995 anime, and
they've also kept one of the character's most defining features: Batou's cybernetic eyes.
These disc-like objects bulge comically when Batou loses his cool in the manga, which actor
Pilou Asbæk based his portrayal of the character on, rather than the anime.
The live-action version of Batou is a pretty solid match for the manga version, while anime
Batou is more of a towering jarhead, a man with a long face that gives nothing away.
Asbæk pulls off the hairstyle and manages not to look stupid with the cybernetic eyes,
though for a perfect score, he probably needed more time in the gym.
Aramaki
Lieutenant Colonel Daisuke Aramaki is the man pulling all the strings at Section 9,
having created the specialist cyber-crime unit himself.
In Shirow's manga he is often referred to as the "Old Ape" because, well, look at him.
Bald on top with crazy white hair everywhere else, he made a few strides up the evolutionary
ladder in the animated movies and TV shows that followed, though his hair and goatee
remained.
Takeshi Kitano, a legend of Japanese cinema, takes on the character in the Paramount remake,
adding some much-needed respectability to the project.
Despite being 70 years old, the Battle Royale star still carries himself like a younger
man, and for all his tenacity, youth is not something associated with Aramaki.
Kitano can make any role his own, but with a much rounder face, missing the signature
wispy beard, he doesn't much resemble the Aramaki fans have come to know.
Ishikawa
Chain-smoking tech wiz Ishikawa isn't the most prominent member of Section 9, but he's
served with both the Major and Batou.
The cyber warfare expert started out with a black bushy beard and an unkempt mess of
hair in the first manga volume, and he remained rough and ready in anime adaptations.
As the oldest field operative on the team, Ishikawa has always been characterized a being
a little haggard and less powerful than his allies, only joining a physical fight when
it's absolutely necessary.
Australian newcomer Lasarus Ratuere doesn't exactly fit the bill at first glance, mostly
because he's only recently hit his thirties and he looks to be in pretty decent shape.
For most roles, this would be a good thing, but it also puts him at odds with the traditional
scruffy image of Ishikawa, who looks every bit his age and is fond of cigars and whiskey
over fitness.
Togusa
As far as the manga is concerned, Section 9 operative Togusa is an emotional wreck who
struggles with self-esteem issues and insecurities about his ability to contribute to the cause.
This side of the character is less pronounced in anime adaptations, however.
There, Togusa comes across as far more accomplished and confident — both things he needs so
he can pull off that mullet.
While Togusa's hairstyle is the character's most recognizable feature, he's known for
going retro from head to toe, with a fashion sense that often gets him teased by his teammates.
The first thing you notice about Chin Han's Togusa is his severely toned down mullet.
The star addressed the issue of his character's iconic 'do in the run-up to Ghost in the Shell's
release, saying,
"There's very different kinds of mullet[s].
How big is the party in the back?
Rest assured, fans, we're going to have the mullet."
While the actor insisted the the "family man" side of Togusa would be respected, he isn't
much of a visual match.
Saito
As nothing but a supporting character in the manga series, Saito didn't even get an appearance
in the 1995 anime.
It wasn't until the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex TV series that his character
became something more, as Section 9's sharpshooter.
Their version of Saito is a former mercenary who lost his left eye to The Major in battle
before later joining her at S9 and having it replaced with an enhanced one.
Saito's most distinguishing feature is his hawkeye, which links with satellites to allow
him unparalleled accuracy with his long-range weapon.
Paramount got it right when they decided to stick with his left-side eyepatch in their
remake, despite the English language manga showing otherwise.
That wasn't their only good decision regarding the character: Yutaka Izumihara's casting
ticks all the boxes, including the signature Saito scowl, making him as a close to a real-life
Saito as you could hope for.
Borma
Like Saito, Borma was a minor supporting character in Shirow's work who never made it into the
first anime, but he returned for the second season of the Stand Alone Complex anime series.
Unlike Saito, he's taken a huge detour from earlier depictions of the character for the
big screen adaptation.
Borma's main distinguishing feature is his big, bald head, and that's nowhere to be seen
in the live-action adaptation.
The studio opted instead for Tawanda Manyimo, and a completely different look altogether.
Though he isn't a short guy at six feet tall, Manyimo doesn't have the bulking Borma build,
and if you took away his red eyepieces, he'd be totally unrecognizable as the character.
Kuze
Hideo Kuze isn't the most famous antagonist from the Ghost in the Shell universe, as more
of an activist than a straight-up villain, walking the line between freedom fighter and
terrorist.
Not a manga original, Kuze came into play during the Stand Alone Complex series, though
the Kuze played by Michael Pitt won't be solely based on that character.
Director Rupert Sanders told Collider,
"Kuze borrows a few facets from different characters in the series.
[...] He's kind of our own creation."
Pitt's Kuze has a far more artificial look than the animated Kuze, but despite that,
the shape of his face matches up, as does the hairstyle.
Not bad...

Companies Have Begun Implanting Microchips in Workers - tech and science - Duration: 2:32.
Companies Have Begun Implanting Microchips in Workers
The Associated Press reported Monday that companies there have begun implanting microchips
in their employees, marking the first time the practice has been used on a broad scale.
What could pass for a dystopian vision of the workplace is almost routine at the
Swedish start-up hub Epicenter, AP reports.
The company offers to implant its workers and start-up members with microchips the size
of grains of rice that function as swipe cards: to open doors, operate printers or buy smoothies
with a wave of the hand.
We're revolutionizing the news industry, but we need your help! Click here to get started.
Epicenter, home to more than 100 companies and about 2,000 workers, began offering the
implants in January of 2015.
Now, about 150 workers have been chipped.
The biggest benefit, I think, is convenience, Patrick Mesterson, Epicenter co-founder, told
AP.
It basically replaces a lot of things you have, other communication devices, whether
it be credit cards or keys.
A body hacker shows up at your office, ready with a preloaded syringe.
He injects the chip into the fleshy part of the hand near the thumb.
Now youre a cyborg.
The chips use near-field communication technology, the same as in credit cards.
When swiped by a reader a few inches away, data flows via electromagnetic waves.
The chips are passive, meaning they contain information but cant read other devices.
The technology isnt new.
Such chips are used for things such as tracking deliveries and virtual dog
collars.
And there have been other, isolated cases of companies chipping their employees in the
past.
But Epicenter is bringing it to a whole new level, and workers there seem alright with
the idea.
In the article, the general attitude is perhaps best captured by the comment of one 25-year-old
worker:
I want to be part of the future.

Smartphone Camera Lenses | Forever SL-400 - Hands on Video - MyTrendyPhone - Duration: 4:39.
Hey everyone, its Becca from MTP,
and welcome back to another video.
This time we're testing out these
cool looking lenses for your phone camera by Forever.
Yes, we know dual-lens and phones
are a thing for a while now,
and still we can't get enough of those new gadgets
to improve our photography skills
Truth is that the phone is the only camera
most of us are willing to carry around,
most of the time, but
if you want to make your social media photos
just a tad cooler, and a little bit better,
and not having to deal with
bulky and heavy DSLRs on everyday basis,
Forever offers you this great pocket-sized way
to beat all those Instagram filters to the punch.
Now, in the package you get:
a manual,
one close approximation lens with 8x zoom,
one 180 degree fish-eye lens,
one macro lens with 10x zoom,
on 0.67x wide-angle lens,
two clips for the lenses,
and the carrying pouch.
We'll start off with the fish-eye lens.
Screw the little lens-head on the top of the clip,
and place a clicked over the camera on your phone.
Quick tip:
If you have a dual lens camera phone,
the lens should go on the second camera.
At least that's the case with Honor 8.
Now, the results with this liens
are not too natural looking, but
it's a great way to squeeze in
a big scene in one shot.
The biggest problem with this lens, though
is the edges, they tend to have
a lot of blurr and a lot of noise, but
if you can get past that
there's a wide range of possibilities
for you to capture a moment.
It also makes really fun selfies.
Next, we'll try the telephoto lens.
Truth be told it's the bulkiest one as you can see,
yet, regardless of its size is surprisingly lightweight.
It offers a good way to zoom in on subjects
that are way out of your reach.
The details are not too sharp and crispy, but
this lens gets the job done quite nicely.
The macro lens, a personal favorite, I must admit.
I love to take close-up photos and admire all the details,
and this lens offers you just that.
It's super tiny, and it needs to be
brought up really closely to the subject
for it to pop out all the details and sharpen them up.
What we love about it is
how it handles the bokeh.
If you practice a little bit,
and keep your hands really steady
while taking the photos,
you can have some dream-like shoots
with great amount of details,
and a nice blurred background.
And the last but certainly not least:
the wide-angle lens.
This little guy comes screwed-together with the macro lens.
They are both super tiny,
so be very considerate of their size
while separating them.
This lens is is not as wide as the fish-eye lens, but
it does offer a good amount of coverage of your shots.
It broadens your lens' field of view,
so it good for group photos, selfies or some big scenery.
After it's all said and done,
it's really all comes to personal preference,
so, do tell us what you think.
That would be all for our newest review.
It's always a pleasure guys,
and thank you so much for watching.
