"One of the best parts about swimming for RIT is that it as an athlete there's not
a lot of athletes here at RIT and being part of that RIT athlete group it's we
hold the sense of pride in ourselves it really means a lot to race for a school, to represent a school."
"It's it's a sense of being bigger than just myself and
knowing that even though swimming is how do you do is a very individual sport at
the end of the day your team still is depending on you
so getting the suit up and wear the same suit wear the same cabin and be behind
the blocks you may be an individual but we have our entire team either at the
end of the pool or on the sides of there and they're counting and you just smudge
as you count that and it's it's something special to this sport."
"Just the family connection just the bond you know a lot of times you know you go through
college you know you kind of get a little lost but with the swim team
you always have someone reach out to you know you got a question about something
you can always contacts someone who has been through that situations."
"My favorite memory for swimming at RIT has been the state's meet every time, it's just the
culmination of all the hard work they put into the season coming into one big
one big race everybody swims fast everybody's everybody is in good spirits a lot of fun."
"Best part about being on this team is the people. I love the team we really come together in
the past couple of years and the seniors this year I've just been outstanding
it's to bring the team together and bring it a whole that's really what keeps me going.
Diving team as well as what keeps me going throughout all of this training
and stuff. It's tough and so long season."
"Favorite memories swimming here I think it has to be,
I don't think it's one memory I think every time we go to
Florida there's a whole collection of memories Florida is our training trip
and every single day there's hard practices but also you bond so much with
your teammates so every single Florida there's probably 20 to 30 new memories
that you make that you'll have for the rest of your life."
"Definitely just trying to enjoy it all it goes by a lot faster you think you will they definitely flew
by for me and looking back it seems like goes snapping fingers."
"I've had friends at NTID who know that I've been swimming for four years actually almost five
years now. So I have a lot of experience I've trained a lot and I've done a lot
with people here on campus as well. So most of the time I practice and swim and
that's my family and then once in a while I get to socialize outside with
friends but I'm actually feeling really old right now."
"Means a lot my mom went to school here and she really pushed me to come here
and be an athlete just like she was so there's a little legacy with it."
"Favorite memory is probably just coming here as a freshman and just having the
team be here with you and with everyone getting to know a lot of people here at
RIT just building a lot of skills throughout my time here and geting
more comfortable with school and the team."
"In order to swim for RIT you must first think about the goal for your academics.
So it's important that you keep your academic grades up so you can swim and
have fun so that's of that's the fun part of
it so you don't want to be bored you want to make sure you're having fun so
you need to make sure the grades are good."
"The best part of being on this team it's just having 60 instant friends as soon as you come in freshman year."
"I'm sure everyone else has said this it's the community on the team every single person it's pretty
much your family and I think that's really important then my team does that very well."
"Sense of family and community I've had a bunch different swim teams a
bunch of different teams in general and there's just something about this team
that like I came in and I didn't realize I know what I definitely thought here
for a year and it's it was really eye-opening seeing how quickly they
adopted me and brought me to the program and probably long cycles be able to like
three four years I was very very heartwarming."
"This is like another family to most of us including me a lot of hangouts Florida is really fun when we
go on a training trips we really get to mesh together as a family so it we
really can't get away with each other but like at the same time we don't
really want to get away from each other we want to stick together for as long as we can."
"It's tough but now I mean just keep pushing through it's
it's well worth the wait and you'll get experiences that you won't ever forget."
