Hey! I'm Julia, and I work as a Project Leader at IKEA in Malmö.
I live in Malmö with my boyfriend, Jens, in a pretty old apartment – it's very charming.
We've lived here for two years and I really really like it.
It's quite central, but still very calm.
It's close to parks, and pretty close to the water.
Cause I really do like to go there and swim and just walk on the beach.
So I started working at IKEA as a Project Assistant and it was a great way for me to learn IKEA and how things work here.
I mean, IKEA is a big place and we kind of tend to do things a bit differently.
I was working at IT. It was really a good experience,
but I wanted to move more towards retail.
So I applied and I got the role, and I was really excited about that and still am.
In my role as a Project Leader, I currently work in a project
where we are trying to help the markets becoming better in understanding their customers.
This is done by using the data that we have,
and if we understand our customers we can really meet them where they want to be met,
whether it's E-mail, Facebook, Instagram.
We can also understand what type of communication they want to hear from us.
What are their needs?
The main people that I communicate with on a daily basis are my closest team,
and they are subject matter experts within the area of direct communication.
I need to understand what types of conversations they have with the markets that they're working with,
so that I can feed that information back to the Project Manager and the Program Manager at the Program.
I'm kind of the point in between, where I'm in the details and in the day-to-day work,
but I need to simplify that and give reports and updates
towards the ones that don't need all the details.
I really enjoy this role and it's a lot thanks to the team and the moments that we've had together.
Although it's been rocky and sometimes frustrating,
we've always had so much fun.
And that's so important, and I really feel like I've made friends for life.
In the future, I hope to work abroad at some point, like for a longer period.
And I really think that I can do that through IKEA, and that's important to me.
It's also very important for me to have time to spend with my friends and family.
I don't think life should be all about work, work, work.
It's really important to have a balance, and IKEA really encourages that.
