Our entrepreneurial students continue to make a positive impact

by working on new ventures with innovative solutions.

We are celebrating MBA student Sara Howard

who just won a national pitch competition with her new tech startup.

Sara is business development manager for Cognivive.

She joined the team led by founder Professor Tony Simon of the UC Davis MIND Institute.

The medtech startup develops video games that act as therapy for cognitive impairments

that affect millions of children and adults worldwide.

And the company's success is close to Sara's heart.

She has a deeply personal stake in the digital therapeutics.

Her father suffered a debilitating stroke and is now testing out some of their prototypes.

Earlier this month, Sara traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota

for the Reaching Out MBA conference, the world's largest gathering of LGBTQ business students.

At the conference's Startup Pitch Competition, Sara won the $5,000 top prize.

In March, the company was one of four finalists in Capitalize,

the NBA's only crowd sourced startup contest hosted by the Sacramento Kings.

In April, Cognivive won the audience choice award at the MedTech Conference in San Francisco.

And then in May, Cognivive won the second price and $5,000 in our 2018 Big Bang! Business Competition.

And this month, our Big Bang! Business Competition lifted off once again.

Our UC Davis Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

kicked-off the 19th annual competition at an event that featured keynote speaker Sally Edwards,

the co-founder of famous running shoe and apparel company Fleet Feet.

The competition offers entrepreneurs free resources, mentorship and a series of workshops

that run from October to May to help them start and grow a business.

Our goal is to build the powerful networks needed to help launch successful ventures.

Speaking of successful launches, our Master of Science in Business Analytics program

that started last year, has been ranked among the best in the world.

QS World University ranks our MSBA program number 24 globally

and among the top 10 in the United States.

QS also recognized our business analytics program among the top 20 globally

for both for the value of the degree and for the employability of our graduates.

These rankings reflect the high quality of our programs, students and faculty, both nationally and internationally.

As a whole, they consistently show that the UC Davis Graduate School of Management

is among the best business schools in the world.
