Waching daily Oct 25 2018

The idea to the concept of the video comes from

the bonfires that are lit during the Walpurgis night,

which historically was done in order to

scare off witches, trolls and such.

The Walpurgis bonfires are…

Well, it's kind of a xenophobic act,

so I thought I'd like to turn the tables,

and let the witches and trolls be the ones

to start the bonfire instead.

'Blue Roses' is about what it's like to be a child and to grow up.

When I wrote the lyrics it was the...

inner woman, child or human I had in mind,

rather than what can be seen on the outside.

The chorus evokes a feeling of togetherness,

which made me realise that it can't just be me,

there has to be more people in the video.

And that's how it started.

I think this is the video I've had the most fun creating.

It was a challenge having so many kids on the set.

We had, if I remember correctly...

maybe 18 kids there during the whole day, give or take.

All of the children goes to the same local school as I did,

so that made it even more special.

Their ages ranged from six to twelve,

and I didn't know all of them that well,

even though fire and other things were involved. So it felt a bit risky.

But many of the children's parents were there,

and the kids made an outstanding contribution.

Another thing was that the kids could only be on set for a few hours,

which forced us to keep a really tight schedule.

And the assistant director, Liz Almqvist, was really stern and she said things like,

'Now we have to do this and then we have to do that.'

This was probably the most hectic video productions that I've been working on.

And the amount of beautiful footage we got was fantastic.

Often the biggest worry when filming is, 'Do we have enough?'

But after we had shot the video,

it really felt like we had more than enough.

I especially remember a moment at the end of the evening that day.

I was finishing some dancing and lip syncing

and there were a few other people keeping an eye on the bonfire.

By then it was only Olle and I left on set.

The others at the bonfire were having a barbecue with some beer

and asked us if we wanted some hot dogs they had made for us.

It was such a beautiful ending of a long day.

To stand by the bonfire, sip on a beer while eating a hot dog.

It was nice.

- Kind of... Did I say anything that made sense? - Oh yeah, there's a lot, it's great.
