Formerly known only as a mining town on\ whose territory a mine and
a thermal power plant is located,
Kakanj today, is one of the leading local self-governments in Bosnia and Herzegovina
which is developing rapidly.

The complete public sector has been refurbished,
refreshed or rebuilt and in fact it speaks of the situation
we found ourselves after all that we have been experiencing
in the last few decades.

We are trying to create an ambience in which citizens will live well,
the economy will recognize it."
The Kakanj Municipality occupies a central position in the Sarajevo-Zenica valley,
and by its size belongs to the group of medium-sized municipalities in
Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to the latest census from 2013, over 37,000 inhabitants
live in the municipality, out of which more than 12,000
live in urban areas.
At least 70 percent of the population is capable of working,
which is the potential that can be used for the development of civic entrepreneurship.
Thanks to the rich natural resources of coal and limestone,
the foundation of Kakanj economy is mining,
cement production and power generation.
At the same time, the mentioned sectors employ the largest number
of inhabitants of the municipality.
The advantage for investing in this local community is primarily its
geographic position, then the road communications.
There are modern roads and corridor 5C, regional roads, railroad traffic,
infrastructure that exists and to all this we need to add the human aspect.
The emphasis is primarily on municipal administration that is
extremely accessible to all investors.
98 percent of our employees come from Kakanj.
All the mineral raw materials, all the alternative materials
we use come from the territory of the Kakanj municipality.
It is important to note that no foreign investor has withdrawn from BiH,
and from Kakanj.
So this place is interesting for investment, especially because of its position
and because of its population and local administration attitude towards investors.
At least 60 percent of the territory of the Kakanj municipality is covered by forests,
which is another potential for the development of this local community.
Investing in underdeveloped wood processing capacities could be appealing
for investors who are planning to work in final wood processing.
Agricultural resources provided by the Municipality represent
good conditions for the development of production of biologically healthy
and chemically unprocessed food.
In the future, this could lead to greater investments
in this branch of the economy and the launch of family ran agricultural businesses.
The main task of the Municipality is to awaken entrepreneurial awareness
of various types of incentives in the first phase, especially in young people,
to launch their businesses.
Later, there are incentives for development, procurement of equipment, and loans.
Basically, in all phases of the development from the beginning to the big entrepreneurs,
we have provided funds in the municipal budget to support them to make their business grow better.
The Municipality is focused on the development of entrepreneurship
and creation of better conditions for investors, which can be confirmed
by the establishment of the 100,000 m² Business Zone "Vrtlište"
By establishing this industrial zone, we have opened up the opportunity
to expand our capacities, which has again created the opportunity to recruit new people.
The municipality has the potential, and the will, but there are also
people who really want to help.
My message to potential investors is to reach out to us,
to come and talk and I think they will not face resistance and
I think they will be surprised.
Although currently underdeveloped, entrepreneurship is growing stronger
every year in Kakanj, and an increasing number of citizens decide
to start their own business.
Significant support was given to them by the Municipality,
which is continuously working on the improvement of incentive measures.
Thus, in the last 4 years, 82 unemployed persons who started
and registered their own business were promoted through the project
"Start Your Business in Kakanj", while 260 legal and private entities
received incentives to refund the costs of starting craft,
trade and hospitality activities and part of the costs of registering of the company.
This is the area with a rich and diverse cultural heritage,
which is best confirmed by the fact that as many as 8 national monuments
of the cultural heritage of BiH are found here.
Apart from the Kraljeva Sutjeska and the medieval town of Bobovac,
which preserve the ancient past of this area, there are numerous picnic
sites where you can enjoy pure air and natural beauties
These are the best prerequisites for the development of cultural,
historical, religious, mountain, village and spa tourism.
Special care is devoted to improving the social life of the community,
which is also confirmed by significant investment in culture and sport.
In addition to institutional care for the culture and sport
of the Kakanj municipality, which at the enviable level,
the cultural and sport life of Kakanj citizens is complemented
by 24 sports associations.
Five different sport clubs participate in the elite competitions of our country.
When you get to know Kakanj a bit better, you quickly forget that
it is a mining-industrial town.
Residents of this municipality have the opportunity to gain high quality education,
find adequate work, participate in a rich cultural and sports life,
enjoy the natural gifts and plan their future carefree in their hometown.
here, the people are hospitable, and jealously cherish and nourish their town,
but are also happy to share it with all those who have good and noble intentions.
This is not just a place to invest in, but also the place where you want
to live with your dearest.
I am inviting serious investors, those who plan to develop their businesses,
to visit more municipalities in BiH because we have very good local communities.

Brod was an important traffic and trade hub through history,
and this fact has not changed much to this day.
Thanks to its geographic position and closeness to the border with the European Union,
the Brod municipality for the majority of BiH citizens is the shortest transit route
for Central and Western European countries.
The border crossing in Brod is only 8 km from the E70 motorway and 4 km from
the railway station in Slavonski Brod, which enables transportation of raw materials
and products to any part of Europe and reduces transport costs.
I would like to highlight the main advantages of the Brod Municipality.
This is, first of all, a favourable geographic position because
we are on the border with EU, and we are also neighbours
with a large city of Slavonski Brod.
We have a good traffic, but also other infrastructure.
We have a significant labour power, and the local community is ready
of the labour power.
We have a tradition in industrial production, but also in metal processing
and in the textile industry, and I would also put an emphasis
on trade and agricultural production.
In the territory of 228 km², there are almost 16,000 inhabitants,
out of which about 3,000 people are employed.
Considering other criteria, the Brod municipality is classified
into medium-developed units of local self-government.
Thanks to the Oil Refinery, the only refinery in B&H,
the largest number of employees comes from the industrial sector.
In addition, Brod has a long tradition in manufacturing metal products,
which is also a sector in which there are great opportunities for new investments.
There is also a skilled, trained and experienced workforce
of the metal profession, which is an immeasurable human potential.
Future plans are expansion of production in Brod,
we are building a new production hall.
We got the land itself from the Municipality under very favourable conditions,
and because of its population and local administration attitude towards investors.
The largest area of the Brod municipality is agricultural land so,
after the industry and the metal sector, agriculture is an activity where there is
potential for further development and new investments.
Corn and wheat are cultivated the most, and significant yields have also been
achieved in fruit production.
By 2018, agricultural producers were allocated more than 1,000 hectares
of cultivable land for use.
The development of these sectors is followed by the growth
of the livestock, and in the area
of the municipality dozens of economically self-sustainin
farms have been established.
Beekeeping is very developed and in the area of the municipality
there are about 80 beekeepers, which form an annual number
of around 7,000 bee colonies.
In recent years, the municipal administration has paid special
attention to creating a better business environment,
so several business zones have been formed for investors
that are less than three kilometres from the border crossing.
It is a privately owned Brownfield zone, and three Greenfield zones
where land lease prices are even up to 1 KM per square meter.
The Municipality of Brod offers a number of benefits for acquiring land ownership.
Investors who plan to hire more than 50 workers, are offered free land
with all property and legal affairs done.
We also offer different benefits to investors who plan to hire more than 15 workers.
Rich fish stocks of the rivers Sava and Ukrina, which adorn
the municipality Brod, attracts fishermen from the region,
and there are rich hunting grounds rich with large and small animals,
which is also a potential that can be used for development in the field
of hunting and fishing tourism.
Brod is also recognizable by cultural manifestations - due
to the long tradition of nurturing folklore and almost four decades
of the Sava Watercolor Colony.
