Hey everyone it's me Kathryn and today I'm here to talk to you about some of
the things that I have been enjoying while I've not been making videos. So I've
not been reading too much these past few months and really in the time since
I made my last video and now the only book I've read that I like absolutely
really enjoyed so so very much was The Diviners by Libba Bray and I listened to it on
audiobook which I think definitely added to that because the narrator whose name
I've forgotten is amazing like the voices and the accents that she does
just really really like it's just... Obviously Libba Bray's writing is
definitely a big part of that because without good writing like where's the
story where's the narrator but the narrator like she just did a such a good
job of narrating this story it was amazing
I'm glad that the audiobook was the first experience I had reading this
because I've been meaning to pick it up for a while because I've heard so many
good things about it and it's... it's really good. So you're probably wondering
if you haven't, if you don't know already what The Diviners is about. It's
basically it's set in America in like the 1920s and it's centred around these
teens with these special abilities and The Diviners, this book in particular, is
about a serial killer, Naughty John, who has come back from the dead and he's
continuing his work and it's basically about bringing him down but the story is
told from different perspectives not all of it focused on Naughty John some of it is separate
and... separate from this and has its own little
story like Memphis, I'm sure his name was Memphis, and his
little brother... like that's... that's sort of like a little separate story and I
don't know... see because this, The Diviners, like the Naughty John arc is like
started and finished in this book so I don't know how the rest of the books are
gonna be. Whether it's more like a companion series or whether it does like
whether we do continue with these characters and it's just them going on
to a different... a different mystery or whatever but I just like just the
atmosphere and the setting and I just think it was really good. Like really
good and I definitely definitely will be continuing with this series on audiobook
because I'm hoping that it's gonna be the same narrator because she was
brilliant like I think if she's narrated anything else I will probably
definitely listen to whatever she's narrated because she's just so good
she's so good and I just I'm sorry I've forgotten her name. I'm pretty sure it's
January. Is it January? but no it was just such a good story and Libba Bray did a
good job of making you care about these characters and like weaving their
stories together and it just I just really enjoyed it and I really really
want to pick up the next one but I just like I said I haven't been reading much
lately but The Diviners. So good. So good.
What I have been doing quite a bit of is watching anime. Like I've been catching up on
things I've been meaning to catch up on, finish anime that I've been meaning
like I've been in the middle of watching for ages. But recently I've been watching
some new things, discovering some new anime and one that
I think is actually relatively new to crunchyroll like it's only been on like
maybe a year or two or something and the second season is definitely quite recent
addition and that's Noragami which is basically about this god who wants to
save up like his dream is to have his own shrine like he doesn't have his own
shrine for people to come pray to him and like most people probably don't know his
name I'm gonna be honest I've forgotten his name which is... I'm really bad at
names so I've forgotten his name...
but yeah so to save up for this shrine basically he just
does odd jobs for anybody. Any job, anyone he'll do it. You want him to clean your
bathroom he'll clean your bathroom. You want him to babysit your kid you know
things like that. He'll work in...he'll cover someone's shift
at a shop he'll do whatever it is and whilst out on a job looking for a
missing cat he encounters a teenage girl, human teenage girl, and stuff happens and
she's... they befriend each other and she's basically she's like half and half she's
like half hanging in this in our world like anchored in the living world and
half in the dead world I guess or like she's in the world in the middle. I don't
I don't know but anyway they end up befriending each other and she's sort of like
helping him along his way and it's really good. Like I've watched the first
season, I'm half partway through the second season, Noragami Aragoto,
but it's so good like it's really good. It's relatively short, the first
season's relatively short, like I think it's only like 12 episodes maybe so if
you haven't watched it like it's a good one I think to check out because it's
not a massive commitment but I think the anime itself's been out around a
while it's just that Crunchyroll it's only recently been added
to Crunchyroll but it's really good and it has two of my favourite voice actors in, one
whose name I've completely forgotten and the other is Daisuke Ono and the two
voice actors are actually I believe like close friends in real life and they
usually...like they tend to pop up in anime together at least the anime that
I've watched with them in they tend to pop up together and I just love that and
I love them both and it's just a great anime anyway in general but yeah so
definitely definitely if you haven't checked that out definitely recommend and
the second anime I want to talk about is My Hero Academia. Like this is an anime
that I'd seen some hype around and so I'd avoided it because hype scares me
and it makes me not want to watch things but one day I was bored, curiosity got
the better of me and I started watching it 's so good, like I am so emotionally
invested in all of these characters. Like if anybody hurts my children I will fight
them like it's just so good and I love them al- well most of them. I love most of them
But yeah so My Hero Academia or boku no hero academia if you
prefer is about... it's set in a world where people are born with quirks and
some people use these quirks to help others and and become superheroes like
being a superhero is a day job that you can legitimately have and you have your
own companies and whatnot so naturally there's schools for that so
this is set around this class in a school, UA, like I'm pretty sure that
stands for something, I don't know what it is but I'm just going to refer to the school
as UA because most people do and it's centred around that and one... one of
the students in particular Midoriya, now I don't know if I can't remember if
his name's Izuru or Izuku, but anyway who was born quirkless which is
heartbreaking because he has this big dream of being just like his favourite
hero All Might who is the number one hero and he wants to help people and be
like All Might but then he finds out that he's quirkless but stuff happens and he ends up
getting into UA which is the school he wanted to get to because he still, even
though her was quirkless, he still wanted to be a hero and help people and he is
so precious. So precious and I will protect him with my life like I... I'll
protect all of them actually, most of them, like all these classmates are great
and it's just really good. Like I'm behind a few episodes now I eventually
got caught up. The plan was to just watch like a couple of episodes a day but then that
didn't quite work out, I ended up binging it and now I'm a few episodes
behind so I've got some more to watch but it's just really good and it's a lot of
fun. Like I tend to enjoy quite a lot of Shonen anime or manga anyway like Naruto
Bleach and like I just really... One Piece and this is so good. It's so good.
It's so good.
And aside from anime I've also been playing quite a lot of games, one of
those being Overwatch which is an online multiplayer which is not usually
my thing like, I'm not very social like, it scares me playing online with other
people and honestly taking that first jump to start playing with other people
like jumping in online, I'm not gonna lie I chickened out and turned it off the first
time but now I'm in it and I really enjoy it like and I can't even pinpoint what it
is about it that I really enjoy. I don't know whether it's the style or you know I
just don't know, like there's a loada range of characters you can play
depending on your style... and the characters have their own backstories
not everybody has one yet but they have their own backstory and Overwatch itself has its history
what is interesting if you're into that but even if you're not think it's still a
really fun game like the maps are fun to play on and events that they have are enjoyable like
I've been playing it for less than a year so maybe like if you've been
playing it more long-term than that maybe it does get old but for the moment
I'm still really enjoying it. Really enjoying it and like I don't... like even
if you're not very social like I'm not social at all, I don't talk to people
online or anything like that, you don't have to like you can just play do
your own little thing in your team without actually having to physically
talk to anybody like, you don't need to do that. I certainly don't. I don't have
any of those options open, I don't join any group chats or anything like that I
just play by myself and have fun basically. It's just nice
and like you encounter the odd nobhead but you know for the most part I've had
my gaming experience with a watch has been quite positive. Another bit of
multiplayer I've been enjoying is the stardew valley multiplayer which went
live earlier this year and I've been playing it with my sister. Like I've been
playing Stardew Valley for a while now like... as of today I think I'm on like 160
odd hours that I've played it and I'm still not bored of it like I don't
think I could get bored of it. But that multiplayer like being able to play
me and my sister have our own farm now that we've been attending to and having that second
person is so much better. Like farming at the beginning is hard when you're by
yourself but that second person makes a big big difference like splitting the
workload in two really helps and I think you can have a max of four like you can
have up to three people with you on your farm that you make so if you've got like
more friends than me then that's definitely something you could do but
Stardew Valley just like a game that you think it's just a basic farming game and
you can have it just like that, you can basically just a farm, do the farming if
that's what you want but there's also more. You can talk to the people in the... the
townspeople, you can even get a spouse if you want, you can romance one of the
townsfolk,r one of the eligible bachelors and bachelorettes if if you want to
that's something you can do, have your own family, there's also some like other
weird random things that maybe you wouldn't like I've been playing it for
ages and I thought I'd finally discovered everything and then something
else popped up and it was like why is this even in here but it's still
really good. It's so good. So if you haven't picked up stardew valley yet
then get on that because I'm pretty sure it's available across... it's
obviously available on PC, that's how I played, I'm pretty sure it's on
PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch if you've got one of those so really there's no excuse
to not get to Stardew Valley because it's so good. It's really good and I love it. I love it so much.
And the final game I want to
talk about actually is a game that I'm pretty sure I got it free. It was one of
the games that was available for during Xbox Gold, can't remember when, it was a
while ago but I think if it hadn't been available then I wouldn't have picked it
up. But it's really good and this is a game you can just you can start and
finish in a day if you want like it's not very long it's only a few hours long
so if you haven't got the time or the commitment to give to long whole games
then this maybe is the one for you to check but like this is really
good, like it's... you play as Alex who is armed with a radio because her best
friend, whose name I forgotten because names, told her to fetch a little portable
radio because there was something weird, there's a weird cave that he'd heard
rumours about that you could get like weird signals so you go to this island
for this beach party armed with this radio
and you accidentally tap into something that you really shouldn't have and time
goes weird and it's basically you trying to fix... basically trying to fix it and get
off the island because you've missed the last ferry and because you've come to
this beach party, the idea was that you were supposed to have this beach party and you
would get the ferry, the first ferry in the morning but it's the middle of the night
so there's no ferry's running so you need to somehow find a way to get off the island
and it's basically you're trying to fix things and it's really weird, a bit
creepy but not like horror creepy, like if horror's not your thing it's not a horror.
Yeah. I just really enjoyed it. Really enjoyed it. But that's pretty much
