My name is Owen Heaphy, and I'm a sophomore at the Engineering and Science University Magnet School.

I decided to run for Board of Education because I'm interested in local politics, and I have a strong connection to the city of New Haven.

I'm a senior member of the debate team at my school, and it's helped grow my passion for politics and public speaking.

I also compete in Science Olympiad with my friends.

I'm running on three major issues which include access to guidance counselors for students, establishing more student-run community service programs, and funding for after-school activities and extra-curriculars.
