Gilleleje church was build in 1538 by fishermen from the town.
Before the church was build the Gilleleje citizens went to Søborg church.
Gilleleje church was built during the Civil War when Christian the third was king in Denmark.
It took almost 20 years before the priest from Søborg complained to the king
because he didn't receive his church allowances from Gilleleje village.
But the people from Gilleleje were friendly with the king.
The original structure was made from old fishing boats made by local fishermen.
Part of the roof construction was reused when the church was reconstructed in 1742,
today the church is whitewashed with red tiled roof.
The little spire got a clock installed in 1749 financed by the king.
It was not until 1923 that Gilleleje became a separate church parish and got their own priest.
The church interior is quite simple, although there are 4 ship models hanging from the ceiling.
The altarpiece is a painting from 1834, made by I.L.G. Lund, one of he kings painters.
It's a portrait of the women in front of jesus grave.
The pulpit is from the mid 15 hundreds, a very fine piece of baroque art.
Today Gilleleje church is very famous for its history of helping jews during World War 2.
The night between 6th and 7th Oct. the priest helped around 80 jews hide in the attic,
but Gestapo found out and took them to a concentration camp.

2018 Volkswagen T-Roc teased in new video
The new Volkswagen T-Roc crossover has been teased in an official video from the German automaker.
Although the pre-production model shown in the video is wearing a camouflage wrap, it actually gives us a good look at the shape and design of the T-Roc's headlights, grille and tail-lights.
These elements were artfully disguised on an otherwise undisguised prototype spied earlier this month. Those images do, however, provide a clear and unimpeded view of the car's overall shape, and the design of the fenders, doors and tailgate.
Under the skin, the T-Roc will use the version of the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform that underpins the latest Seat Ibiza and the upcoming Volkswagen Polo.
A report from last year indicated the T-Roc's petrol engine range will include a turbocharged 10-litre three-cylinder and a 1. 5-litre four-cylinder.
Turbo-diesels will also feature feature prominently in the drivetrain mix, and buyers will likely be offered the choice of manual and dual-clutch transmissions, as well as front- and all-wheel drive setups.
Later variants are said to include plug-in hybrid and pure EV drivetrains. The new Polo GTI's engine, reportedly a 20-litre four-cylinder turbo borrowed from a previous generation Golf GTI, is also rumoured to be on the cards.
Australia. The new Polo is due to be unveiled in June, and has been confirmed to go on sale in Australia from 2018.
We expect the production T-Roc to make its debut later this year. If that proves to be so, an Australian launch in 2018 seems most likely.
