I`m here in Ube City located in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
There are many nice places here to see so I will take you around for short tour.

And a pond is also here. Very beautiful.
It smells very nice.
It`s the first plum I have seen these year.

The Japanese garden you can see from here is just wonderful.

Ube City is also famous for "Kamaboko"
Kamaboko is a steamed seasoned fish paste usually in a semi-cylindrical shape.
It`s a very healthy Japanese food with a lot of calcium.
At the Kamaboko History Museum you can learn all about "kamaboko"
This time I got the chance to watch how the very skilled craft-worker made this traditional Japanese food.
He will show us now, how Chikuwa is made.
Chikuwa is made of the same ingredients as Kamaboko but it has a whole in the middle. Therefore it is considered a different kind of food.
From here, it looks really easy to do but actually, I think it`s really difficult.
He is wrapping the raw paste around the stick
Oh, it`s becoming thicker and thicker
This is how Chikuwa is made.
The stick with the raw paste is put over the fire place. While rotating slowly, the Chikuwa gets baked and then it`s done.
Now, I will attend in a Sake tasting.
The building behind me is a sake shop.
This brewery is Ube City's famous "Nagayama Honkei"

It`s the mascot of Ube City
the representative of the area.

Tokiwa Zoo is divided into several areas. You can see various animals from all over the world in each area.
A special feature of this zoo is, that it has no fences.
You can see animals in a natural environment

Because cameras are around here it poses I guess.
I bet it wants to say "Hello" to us.

I`m here outside the Zoo and I found a huge park.
It`s free of charge.
Visitors can do

and also play volleyball here anytime.

I had a great time in Ube City today.
Especially the zoo was amazing.
And I also could taste Sake and Kamaboko. All in all a memorable trip.
It`s nice to see and to experience, how Japan's tradition is inherited like this.
Because skills and knowledge got handed down over centuries, we are able to enjoy these highly skilled craftsmen and products.
You can go to Ube City from Kitakyushu by car within 90 Minutes.
Easy accessibility and many wonderful places to see are reason
