Hello, everyone and welcome to today's video in which I thought I would talk about the most confusing part of Youtube the so called trending

page now the YouTube trending page

Supposedly shows the most watched and popular videos of the day or week which sounds a good idea, but it's broken as hell

so in today's video

I'm going to be talking about how people actually get onto this trending page so basically if you look at the training page and

Look at what all the videos have in common. It's that over half the videos are usually less than 10 minutes long

they all have a very high number of likes and dislikes for the amount of views they have and

They all have a lot of comments the logic behind this is pretty simple if a video is short

It will have a high watch time as people are more likely to watch the whole of a 1 minute video

Than a 20 minute video and if a video, that's a lot of likes dislikes and comments

Then it's Gonna have a very high engagement ratio

So what does this mean? well as far as the algorithm goes for normal videos like yours or mine

well you have to make the video short and make people want to comment about it or leave a rating on it or

Some people do beg for likes and comment like you know we could get 503 like a be

Amazing they'd send me a horrible smile

Now just to make my point before I would show you a few examples of the types of videos that get onto

The trending page first as video gets onto the trending page if anything that's controversial or well

Trending obviously right, so I've just watched this back editing and before you all roast me in the comment section

I do realize how stupid

Saying to make a video on things that are trending

for the trending page is but please just hear me out

Okay, I go into more detail than that alright on with the video

this is a sort of obvious way to get onto the trending page and works because people are more likely to leave a rating and

The comments that kind of thing on a video. They feel strongly about for example

if it was a video talking about feminism

Then it's more likely to get a lot of ratings and comments unlike a video such as a kid's toy unboxing as there's not an awful lot

which

you can say about it

And many younger kids aren't even supposed to have a Youtube channel which they need to engage with the video however

We all they all have them anyway

How do you think these Roblox videos get millions of views?

another way of getting on to the trending page

Is to just mention someone who is a Youtuber or celebrity in the title of your video

For example most of the videos you see in the trending section that are made by regular content creators feature collaborations

With another well-known YouTuber or is about another well-known Youtuber another way of getting onto the training page is going to be

Impossible for pretty much anyone watching this video to achieve because the system is so broken

But I thought I'd just mention it quickly if you haven't guess what I'm talking about. I'm on about those clips

You don't care about from American TV shows this is especially annoying for people like me

I don't even live in America and Bloody british

I don't even know what the hell these supposed comedy shows are and let's be honest right most of them aren't even funny

Are they really?

Well, yeah, unless you've got a whole lot of dosh to spend on

Starting an American TV show I guess then that method is useless and let's be honest if you have your own TV show

Who really cares about being on YouTube trending page?

The only other videos it's really gotten to the training page are music videos are movie trailers

which once again unless you have an insane amount of - or you're not gonna be able to make that so

Oh! That's fraud!

Oh, please, delete that email and block the email address.

There's hordes of scammers and hackers out there who want your account information

so that they can break in and steal your money.

What! Are you serious? But it looked so real.

That's the point, it looks real. They work hard to fool you so that they can steal your account information.

How do you know that's a fake?

Well, people should never distribute their bank account information by email.

That's a warning sign.

I never realized. I want to protect my bank account. What can I do? Help me.

Yes, there are many things you can do to keep your bank account safe. For example,

First, you should be thinking about your password. Do you have a strong password,

with different letters, uppercase, lowercase, numbers, other symbols?

No, I used my middle name, that's all.

Well, I suggest a strong password with mixed numbers, letters and symbols - you can always change it.

Also - you can try two-factor authentication - does your bank have that?

Hold on - two part whatsis? I have no idea what that is.

With 2FA, you will continue to use a password, but there will also be a special code

or PIN number which the bank sends you when you try to sign in.

It will act as a second password, but it will change every time, so you have to do a little extra work - but it's much more safe.

Wow. That is a lot of work... But to ensure the safety of my money, I'll use two factor authentication.

Right! Also, be very careful of any emails like the one you got. If they have mysterious links,

want you to provide personal information or ask weird questions, be careful -

it might be a hacker trying to steal your bank information.

Steal my bank account information? But how could they do that?

Sometimes the email link which you click sends you to a fake bank website.

That website uses a program to copy down what you type, then tell you the password was

wrong so you have to type it in again on the real website. In the meantime they now have your password.

Once they have your password, that's it.

So one safety tip is to never use an email link to sign in, always type the website in and sign in that way.

Seriously, that's scary. People do so much for the purpose of stealing money. Get a job!

But suppose I get an email - how do I know it's not a scam?

Look carefully at the email; look at the logo of your bank, the email address. You can check with the bank too.

The best advice I can give you is to read your emails, say okay,

then go online and sign in and check your account information. Make sure it's okay.

Relax. If there's a problem, then call the bank for help.

Well - but if something does go wrong,

the bank will call and let me know, won't they?

Maybe. Sometimes they will find a problem, contact you and let you know.

It's best to always set up and check notifications from your bank if you can.

But even with that help, they can't catch everything.

So you should monitor your account regularly. Anything that looks weird, get in touch with the bank.

OH! And one more thing.

BE CAREFUL OF PUBLIC SPACES.

You are going to college so you will probably be using a computer lab or library computer now and then.

If you use your bank account there, MAKE SURE YOU SIGN OUT and quit the program

that's how you can protect your bank account so nobody can get in and steal your money.

Wow. Scary!

Same rule for Starbucks or the mall or other places with free public WiFi. Open, free WiFi means no protection.

It's EASY for someone to hack you over public wifi. If you try to pay a bill or check your bank account,

your password and information can be stolen. Are you afraid?

Be afraid. If you are afraid, you will do something to protect your money.

Understood. I can start with changing my password to include numbers and symbols.

I'll check with my bank about 2FA and notifications.

I will never click on an email that looks weird again!

Later, in college, when I use the lab and check my account or pay bills, I will make sure I sign out of the computer,

and I will not use public wifi for my money transactions.

Online Safety Tip Review

Create a safe password with numbers and symbols.

Include two-factor authentication.

Avoid clicking on strange emails especially those that ask for bank details.

Be careful not to leave accounts signed in, when using public labs and libraries.

Be careful accessing your accounts through public wifi spaces.
