hi guys Jess here from the scrappy sisters sorry I love this Friday this is our
first family photo ever with the four of us so we will still at the hospital
it was Jack's first time having a cuddle with Tom and it's just just makes me
feel a little one warm and fuzzy inside so scrapbooking I am using this gorgeous
vellum sheet I tried to show you before I started cutting it the brand and and
where it was from and what it's called and all of that but I was too busy
talking about my gorgeous family that I can't remember
sorry about that hopefully you can read it off the screen so I've also pulled
out the washi tape that came with this collection this is the September kid
hugs kid that I am using and as you can see it's the willow lane makey Holmes
collection mostly not 100% that but 99% that so I want I am going to do there's
a few little steps to this but it's super super super easy it's just um
going to give me the best look from my page so I am going to play around with
everything first before I actually get going with anything and open up all the
ephemera packs and stuff because I want to see what's in them but I'm not even
up to a family yet I would get so distracted by playing with new things I
just want to pull everything out and see what they are I love the look of those
gold leaves but I know for my type of scrapbooking I'm gonna find those
difficult to use I'm gonna find those yeah a challenge because they're very
gold and they're quite textured but I'm gonna get there I'm gonna give them a
good go in fact I'll even get them onto this layout
so here I am telling you they'll be too hard to use and I'll still use them so
yay for me I'm having a look through this collection and I'm putting aside
the things that I think I want to use as a whole piece and then I'm pulling out
the couple of pages that I'm happy to cut into to back my photo because again
in inverted commas I don't want to waste any of the good papers that I actually
want to use as background paper so I only want to cut out the papers I mean
they're all beautiful but I only want to cut out the papers that I'm happy to
sacrifice as not being a background paper for which is a really tough
decision because this paper I'm cutting already I love the other side of this
the green and the blue and the little spots of pink it's amazing so that's
actually part of the reason why I chose it to back this photo even though you
can barely see it I just love it so much that I wanted to include it so backing
my photo with that white border on today if you've been watching a few of my
videos I have been cutting that white border off but in this case I'm keeping
it on today it just seemed to make more sense then backing that photo onto white
paper all over again if that makes sense cut off the border just to put it back
on again I do sometimes do that if I want to pay
in the photo to be stronger but I knew I was going to map this on a couple of
pieces of paper already so I didn't have to worry if I was only going to map the
photo on just white paper or not map the photo at all and just leave the photo
border it's the photos a bit too flimsy I find
and if you watched my beautiful darling photo I spoke layout I spoke more about
that then so with this piece of vellum I have stuck this piece of vellum with
really skinny double sided tape all the way around the edge onto just a piece of
white paper I did that on purpose I know it seems silly but I didn't want the
to be see-through when I stick it down onto my page and I also did the washi
trick where I stuck the washi down onto paper as well and so that is just plain
ordinary washi but it's already been stuck on paper and cut out to make those
almost like border strips and again I did that for two reasons one so that I
can actually play with them and work out the placement of where I want that washi
to go and two to make them washy the darker stronger color as you know when
you put washi down it's often a bit softer and a bit more see-through than
it looks on the roll and I wanted that stronger color the way it looks on the
roll where you've got layer upon layer upon layer and so by putting it down
onto the white paper first it just gives it that stronger look so I've stuck
those together but they're not stuck onto my background page yet I don't
think and I've decided I really want to use
this super cute skinny skinny washi that's got a little love heart on it now
I probably should have put that onto white paper first because I think it
would have stood out more and looked more obvious and cuter on the page but I
didn't I just stuck it straight down it's still cute it's just hard to see
and yes obviously I haven't stuck that whole section down to my page yet so
that's going to be sort of the base of my layouts the base almost like my
patterned paper if you will one big piece of patterned paper so it's going
to go pretty much right there in the center and then my photo is going to go
approximately there yeah those Leafs left a mark on my page
girl grumpy - covered that with an embellishment and I don't have time to
reprint my photo she's round going off sorry about that so now I'm going to use
flowers to make a bit of a um I don't know if it's gonna be a diagonal or a
cluster look yet but they're going to go up and around the page I thought about
using those yellow ones but they didn't go they the yellow didn't didn't suit
the look of the the page there so I'm sticking with the Pink's I can feel at
the moment the yellow is going to be a little bit tricky to use so I'm sticking
with the pinks and popping three little clusters I really like that on with the
gold and I think that look works really well with the vellum that's got the
gorgeous gold in here as well and they have to go on top of the photo because I
want to cover that mark that the leaves left near my husband's head and so this
is where I'm getting in some of those gold leaves and I really just used one
in each cluster because more than that's a little bit too much for me as I said
they're not really my style so just one in each clusters about as far as I can
stretch it and I think about using the gold vellum but it was a little bit
tricky to include as well so then I'm having a look through the different bits
and bobs that came in the kit and we've got the chipboard collection as well
that came in the kit so that's kind of matched perfectly so I know I'll pull
some things from there but first of all I just thought I'd have a look at the
exclusive cutter parts to see if there's anything in that that I want to use
and I'm thinking already that I've decided on my title after having a look
at that chipboard I think I'm just gonna use that love you chipboard because it's
perfect for this layout you know it's my family so what else could you possibly
want
just having a look having a play gonna start sticking everything down getting
everything secured and ready to go so I've already put double-sided tape on
the back of the vellum washy piece and I will stick that down in a moment I just
want to get the things that I want to tuck under in and under first so I'm
just using a spot of glue on that gold leaf just right down the bottom so that
I can bend up the tips a little bit and have a little bit of dimension happening
on the page and so once I've got the things that are going under stuck down
then I'll pull up the double-sided tape that I've already pre I put on there
pre-prepared put on the page and I will stick that down on top and just on that
one side at the moment because obviously I've got some things on the other side
that I want to go under as well so I'll do that in a minute
and so using a bit of foam and a bit of double-sided tape just again to add some
dimension to the page I really love the look of having things up popping up from
the page can give to a layout
so just doing the same in the bottom cluster I'm popping on all my things
pulling up the double-sided tape as I'm ready to stick it down because the photo
hangs out on this side actually most of that cluster down the bottom there is
hanging underneath the photograph it's not hanging under the pattern paper so
I'm going to pop my photograph on some foam stick it down and then get going
with the clusters this foam is from the reject shop here in Australia it comes
in a pack so there's a big foam or not a big foam but there's a foam roll and
then there's a couple of sheets of foam squares it's okay I don't love it
the foam works best if you just tear it and that doesn't suit my scrapping style
I like to be able to cut it and I like to be able to stretch as in cut it so I
can stretch it as far as I possibly can whereas it's designed just to tear it
off and stick it on as it is I just find a frustratingly find things
like adhesive really expensive for our craft like their necessities they're
things you can't not have but yet they cost a fortune
so that drives me bonkers that they're so expensive I will be back I am getting
a delivery and I think it's from scrapbook calm it's so exciting and I'm
back and yes it is from scrapbooking calm I can't wait to open it so exciting
it was really quick I reckon I ordered ordered these supplies like maybe two
weeks ago sorry fast these are all of the bits and bobs I have ordered for my
sister's December advent calendar so it is super exciting to receive it's
actually not for me at all which is kind of disappointing
but I love how I'd been Calendar series and I love love love getting all the
presents and everything ready for Katy cuz
I just get excited about her reaction and how much she's gonna love everything
and how I really thought about getting stuff for her so it's still exciting um
anyway now I just can't think about my layout I just want to go and open my box
it's just sitting right there I can touch it but I can't see in it ah and I
can't even share with you what I've got because you'll have to wait until the
December series so I better get back to this layout then and stop getting so
distracted by my delivery so so so so done that top cluster man is just just
strictly dickly place things to cover that mark next to hubby's head which was
annoying me and now working on the bottom cluster I'm kind of all over the
place I'm working on a little bit of everything really really loved this
collection so with the kid Holly's kids I only buy the main kit and I use it in
my 2018 album I used the month for the month so meaning when I get the month of
September main kit I make my for September 12 by 12 layouts and my for
project life layouts with that September kit to last the four weeks of the month
if there happens to be five then I do five you get what I mean though and I
managed to stretch it that far I'm really excited by the way that's working
it really gets me using my kit and and using those supplies and not wasting
them which I was doing and I love the way my album looks having four four four
four four and the months are really obvious as you go into each month and I
just think that's super cute obviously I can still pull for my stash and do stuff
like that but I really loved the way that's looking now the reason why I
brought that up is because when this kit was released for September I saw it and
with all the little gorgeous little foxes and all the little animals in it I
had to have it for my son's album not for my September album so I actually
bought an add-on and got the embellishment kit with this as well
because I just loved it and if I didn't get the embellishment kit I wouldn't
have got these super cute chill chipboard Dicker's which are amazing and
I wouldn't have got the goodest puffy stickers and so I just had to answer by
the add-on and had to keep it for my son's album so what I ended up doing
just in case you're wondering is it actually had pretty much an entire
killer holux kit from July 2017 but I had done one layout with and that was it
so I ended up getting that kit out of my stash and using that so still doing my
same theory like four pairs and four twelve by twelve but using that July kid
holux kit from 2017 which was also really cool because it used up an old
kit that I just had sitting in my stash forever so it was a win-win really I got
this for my son's album and then I got that kit used up so everyone's happy so
I stuck on my title I'm getting so distracted in this voiceover I am sorry
about that and I've pulled out the Tim Holtz tiny
word stickers because I'm thinking I want to use one of those but in the end
they didn't really say what I wanted them to say so I've pulled out my
homemade ones and these are just printed words phrases or word stickers not
stickers sorry word sentences or words just on paper so they're not stickers at
all and I end up cutting out three and doctoring them to create like a little
saying that goes with this layer that that suits suits better what I'm trying
to portray here oh my goodness my words now are so lost
I've just been rambling on about rubbish and now that I'm actually trying to talk
to you about my layout I can't get words out how ridiculous
I'm not sure if I have my journaling on here at the end we'll have to wait and
see when we get there but I actually have just reached and recently purchased
an old typewriter it was advertised in the Facebook marketplace for like 20
bucks and it was in full working order I did some research online and found an
Australian company that sells ribbons for it so I was super excited and got
like new ribbon and this typewriter and went and picked it up because it was
like you know 20 minutes around the corner not far and did all of that for
like $30 and he's amazing I love it and so I'm doing all of the journaling for
my son's album for Toms album on this old typewriter
so I'm journaling on my on my layouts now which I never used to do because I
don't like my own handwriting and I don't have a printer at home so getting
organized to print at work was just too hard and now that I'm I'm at leave I'm
not actually at work to be able to print anyway and I'm also typing straight on
to like project life cards as well in my project life
album and just so you know I can say project life because they are they are
project life cards and they are project life albums so all good
and so just popping on some of these puffy stickers little flowers going in
with the flower clusters little love hearts going in as well alongside those
gorgeous gold love hearts just because I love everything about this layout and
you can see there the little sentence that I created they remember the family
moments because this was a pretty special one just having a fiddle just
working out where I want everything to go I want to sort of have the same thing
happening in each cluster so I really want to have the gold love heart and the
puffy love heart neat Kloster so just having a bit of a tidy
up and a bit of a look through again of what I've got just to see if I've missed
anything see if I want to include anything else on the layout I can be
pretty messy when I scrapbook so when I'm coming to the end I like to sort of
reorganize again just to get my head straight and make sure I've got
everything that I wanted to include and I haven't missed anything
so my photos are about to come up and I do have my journaling on here so be able
to see my beautiful typewriter we're not the actual typewriter but the
journaling and how cool that that looks and the effects that that adds which is
pretty cool so I hope you liked this layout as you can see they're all the
different textures with the puffy stickers and the chipboard and those
gold hearts and then the vellum I just love love love the way this turned out I
just think it's amazing how beautifully it all goes together so I hope you enjoy
it I really loved creating this one please like and subscribe and stay tuned
for more things coming up shortly thanks everyone bye
