Using the CIA World Factbook to Find Country Information - Duration: 1:24.[Music]
In this video, I'm going to be showing you how to access the CIA World Factbook for your
projects.
You can get to the CIA World Factbook from your research guide or search for it using
Google.
You can choose your country from this map.
There's also a drop down menu, here, that you can use to navigate to your country.
So, let's say that we were going to use Australia.
Select it and when I click on it it brings up a page about Australia but you'll need
to scroll down to see this section, which is where all the information is in various
categories.
To see the content for each of these topics, click the topic title.
I'm not going to go into a lot of detail because I know you will be able to explore and find
things in here on your own but I think you'll find a lot of good information here about
the countries you're interested in.
So, that's the CIA World Factbook.

FOTO vs VIDEO settings (welke rol heeft het?) ENG SUBS - Duration: 7:34.What's up guys, Kevin here. Great seeing you again!
Today we'll be looking at setting, the difference between photo and video settings.
Which role has shutterspeed for photo...
..and which for video?
[how do I look?]
Today I'm with Sander again..
We're gonna discuss the difference the settings between photo and video.
They both serve different purposes..
You see he's more into video ..
..I'm doing both photo and video..
..so we thought it would be interesting to look into the settings..
..we noticed that a lot of people don't know the difference in settings..
Let's start with shutterspeed.
Shutterspeed for photography is meant for freezing movement or showing movement.
And with that you also controle the amount of light.
And with video that's different right?
[No.] Then you don't really play a lot with shutterspeed.
Then you'll use the standard rule of using double the framerate as your shutterspeed.
You when you shooting 25fps you'll use a shutterspeed of 1/50
[natural motion blur]
So mostly you'll be using a 1/50 or 1/100 shutter and that's it..
It all has to do with getting natural motion blur.
When you use 25fps then you'll need a 1/50 shutter.
It's not like the law, but it's more like a guideline for that motion blur.
{But maybe also nice to know..}
{What happens when you're shooting slomo ...using a framerate of 100fps and a shutter of 1/15?}
{What happens then?}
Then you'll get too much motion blur.
{blur in the movement?}
Yes in the movement ..too much blur. {Alright}
Same goes for the other way arround ..
..when using a low framerate of 25fps and a shutter of 1/400.. {or 1/4000}
..yeah 1/4000 haha..
..then the movement will be stuttered..
That's shutterspeed only.
So you'll see how much of a difference there is and what role is fulfills.
[APERTURE]
Same goes for aperture..
When playing with aperture in photography you often want that bokeh..
..shallow depth of field..
And..
you're standing in the meanwhile..
He has to stand a bit lower because I'm shorter than he is..
..and the floor goes a bit down here.. {Yeah I'm really a giant haha}
Indeed..
So with aperture you like to work with shallow depth of field..
F1.8 or f1.4 are nice settings to work with.
With video that isn't the case..?
{No ..if you mean sharpness and blur.. the depth of field yeah..}
{Especialy when filming an interview it's better to use apterure f4..}
Yeah indeed when I move a bit then..
{...it's possible to use a lower value but the chance your subject is out of focus gets bigger} Yeah..
And sometimes it's more difficult to check the focus on a small display on the back than on large screen.
So that's why starting from f4 is better ..so you don't really have to use a faster lens.
And there you see the difference..with photography those settings vary every time.
With video they're mostly fixed.
Autofocus is almost the standard for photography.
Only a few use manual focus.
And that's totally different with video..
{I don't think I have ever used auto focus with video ..I always use manual focus..}
{..everytime}
{And why?} Yeah?
{It's the idea of having more control ..I know it's in focus..}
{..and then you can start shooting..}
{..and with auto focus I can't ..} Yeah then the camera will decide for you.
But I do use auto focus for myself for video..
..has to do with the fact that I do move..
..and I don't have a cameraman so I'm depended by auto focus..
..but that's why you sometimes so the focus hunt in my videos.
[hello hello hello..] What's the matter?
[Can you be more quiet?]
Are we really that loud?
We will finish it and then we'll go..
'WTF?! Noise disturbance in Amsterdam? ahhah'
Okay, we'll keep that in mind..
{yeah...hah}
Have a nice day..
In Amsterdam ..and also here people complain about noise disturbance.
Focus/sharpness
Sharpness/ focus..
With photography sharp images are very important. Why?
People can really watch it extensively ..pixel peaking..because it's only one moment captured.
And that's also the way you probably look at your own photos.
With video it doesn't really matters if it's sometimes out of focus.
{No ..it's even better to have some out of focus ..}
What do you think of cinema movies?!
The subject walks from point A to point B and there's is blur in the meantime.
STABILISATION
Of course to get stabiele images, but with video it's way more important.
{And you also have to think about using stabilisation in your video}
Yeah.
{People often think let's put it ON and it's good, but that's always the case.}
Yeah indeed. What kind of style are you shooting? {Yeah..}
Are you shooting action that movement can enhance your footage..
Yeah so it depends on style..
So there you that there's a different in usage for photo and video.
GEAR
So this weekend we had this new Blackmagic Cinema camera. [dedicaded video camera)
So this is a nice moment to talk about the differences between photo and video usage..
Only by looking at this camera ...it's options..
{For video it's just fantastic} Yeah fantastic.
Okay it can shoot photo... 8 Megapixels..
You immediately notice that it has less buttons..
..almost every button is a dedicated video button..
..less setting options ..1/1000 shutter for instance isn't possible. {yeah}
{..and if you wanna change some settings ..that menu is just great}
Best menu ever..really. {Yeah..}
What's important is that the menu is very simple ..
..that immediately shows that with photo you have more settings than with video.. {yeah indeed}
With video you have to know the framerate, resolution...shutter..and that's almost it.
So....
..yeah that was nice right?
This was an impulsive video..
..but I was chilling with Sander in Amsterdam..great day to end the weekend.
And I had this Blackmagic with me, a true video camera..
..and we were talking about what settings we were using ..
..and yeah I often change setting because I do both photo and video ..
..and I thought, let's talk about this and make a video of it.
Let's talk about the setting and difference ..so there you go.
I hope you liked it. A bit of theory though, but interesting theory ...my guess.
Nowadays cameras a filled with setting options because they can do photo and video..
..so I though it's important for you to know what role setting have for photo...
...and when doing video those same settings have another role.
..another effect and some things you'll use less..
So I thought let's share it ...yeah it's theory but interesting.
And don't forget the difference in output!
For video it's important to have good output because you have less post options..
...that's different with photo, there you'll have RAW options which let's you adjust everything in post.
With video you want good footage straight from the camera..
Okay, if you have any questions.. or are you stuck with something? Leave a comment so I can help.
Thanks for watching! Are you new to the channel? Awesome having you!
Please do come back.
Hey guys, you know how it works....subscribe if you haven't already. Thanks again ...
..it was fun and I'll see you next time!

Using Globaledge - Duration: 3:09.(Music)
This video is going to show you how to
use the website Globaledge. There is a
link to Globaledge on your research
guide, but you can also search for using
Google. There's a lot of information here
besides country information. The quickest
way to get to country information is to
scroll down to the country drop-down
which is here on the left hand side of
the screen, and either scroll through the
menu of countries that open up when you
click on the drop-down, or type your
country's name in the box. Let's use
Norway for this example. Click visit
country to continue to the country
information. Similarly to the CIA World
Factbook if you've used that resource
there is an introductory page, and a menu
with a lot more information about the
country. In this case though, the menu is
over here on the left. I'm going to let
you explore these categories on your own,
but I do want to point out a couple that
are especially interesting. Under risk,
located here in the menu, you'll find two
ratings that help you assess how stable
the country is politically and
economically, and how healthy the
business climate is, which are two major
concerns for anyone looking to do
business in another country. Below these
two risk ratings, are strengths and
weaknesses. So assessments of the economy
and the political system, and then below
that is the section on current trends,
and I'll call your attention to the
current transportion. If you're looking
for news stories about your chosen
country, you might find some leads here.
Click the blue bar to see a discussion
of each trend. The other category you
might want to pay particular attention
to is indices. Scroll back up, and find
indices in the menu over here on the
left. This is a list of different indices
that tell us about that country's
performance on key indicators that add
up to a picture of
how easy it is to do business with
companies in that country. Indices are
especially useful, because they don't
just tell you something about the
country, they also give you an idea of
how that country stacks up against other
countries in the world. For each index
the bar under the index shows that
countries performance. The further toward
the blue, the better that country is
doing in that area. On the same bar, the
numbers indicate the rank of this
country compared to others. To get a
better idea of how each ranking is
determined and how scores are calculated
you can visit the source link for each
index. So that's Globaledge. I think
you'll find this website very useful for
your projects.
