Hello everyone, I'm Izzet Camcioglu.
In this video of series reviewing and development,
we'll review SJCAM's model of SJ360 camera.
Now, firstly, this cam is an old model.
However, I haven't an experience about 360-degree camera
and recently this product's price seriously went down in Turkey.
I don't know exactly the reason of it.
However, I guess that is might be a stock consumption.
But, its level of down price, especially, even though it is sold abroad at level between 400TL and 500TL.
When you buy it from Turkey its price comes up to 200 TL
that's why I desired doing testing by procuring it.
I decided to prepare this video both sharing the results of this experience
and showing the results that tell you what 360-degree camera is,
how does it work, what kind of view that we have by it.
Firstly, in this video, I'll briefly do unboxing,
after that I'll give you short information about device's setup.
Later, I'll realize a flight by montaged this camera to multicopter and I'll share this flight's videos.
Now, we can start with unboxing.
Yes, it's time for unboxing and reviewing.
Firstly, let's start with data which are on box.
It shoots 360-degrees video,
it can record at 30 fps / 2K ,
but don't think that this 2K resolution is as clear as the other action cam's 2K resolution
because It'll shoot video as 360-degrees.
Another topic is it can take 12MP photos.
It has 0.83'' OLED SCREEN on it.
This screen is useless.
I'll talk about it later.
It shows the accessories which comes with it.
On the back side there are its properties.
Here, it uses 12.4 MP SONY sensor.
Its lens is 220° after this unboxing I'll tell you what it means.
It can take images on format JPG
and record videos in MP4.
It has a battery 1300 mAH
and It supports micro-sd until 128gb.
It has USB 2.0 but it doesn't use micro, it's miniusb.
It has HDMI out, WIFI
and it has its own microphone and this microphone doesn't work at all.
Firstly, we are taking outer side out of it.
After that, when we open the box first shows up the camera.
Let's take the camera.
This is our camera shaped like sphere that we'll use,
I'll talk about its explanations at soon.
Now, let's continue with box content.
What comes out of box content.
First, a mini cloth to clean the lens,
and a tote bag,
and there is an user manual with standard kits of connection.
I won't detail all of these,
these are almost same accessories with all SJCAM cameras.
I'll show you specially how you should do these connections to drone.
After all, it gives us an USB cable.
Between all these accessories, I most care about this tote bag.
This bag is useful.
As a structure, it's not so easy to carry.
On the back side, it has an anti-slip tape.
If you put it like that it easily stays
but in case you put it sideward,
it starts moving like that because of the Centre of gravity
and it's risky about falling.
However, when we put it in the bag,
we can carry it comfortably by hanging it on anywhere.
Now, at the same time, I think this bag is one of the most positive features of the product.
Let me put aside it.
It's time to answer what does 220° on the box mean.
Its most difference from the other 360-degrees cameras on the market is,
this video camera just record 360 video only for this side
I mean that as it has no camera on the back side
this product record 360 video only one side
But Its exceed is 220° degrees,
it shoots 360 degrees with approximate 220° degrees.
during record, the view of the back side of the camera doesn't include in this shooting.
It can be approved as the bad side of this product.
Let's come to the examination of the camera.
Firstly, there are two buttons on it.
These buttons let us to turn on and off it and also change mode.
On the other side, it has a little screen
and there are inputs and battery in the covered area.
On lower part, there is a tripod connection,
it accesses with many tripods.
And we can use it on the tripod by montaging as you see.
In this part, I'll talk about the positives and negatives sides of this camera.
I'll share the display that we got and the preparation of this display in another video.
Firstly, buying this product by thinking as an action cam is wrong
because it has no protecting cover on it so it's not resistant to water.
Thus, it's not possible to use it in a rainy day
Otherwise, users should decide
if they like or don't the display which comes from this camera for preferring this product.
It provides a display that is not as we get used to see.
Especially, 360-degrees camera are preferable for people who enjoy shooting panaromic.
Otherwise, if we start review this product,
I didn't come up with that is very practical in consequence of not having a button which makes right and left.
Let me show in this way.
When we turn on the camera,
now, it's seen very obscure on the screen,
is one of the most missing feature of it.
Outside, we can't nearly see the things that are on the screen.
So, even though this screen's design and its writing is nice,
it doesn't help so much to us.
Let me show you the difference when the lights turn off.
Normally, its writing must be seen in this way.
But they are not seen under the lights.
Now, let's visit quickly its menus.
Firstly, it has different modes of shooting.
There is car mod
and there is settings menu.
After coming to settings menu,
we're clicking the on/off button once to enter the menu.
Under this, we can obtain many feature,
as WIFI,
language,
resolution,
loop recording.
However, as you see, it's not so useful.
To exit the menu,
we must come to menu at the end
and click again the button.
Using without any connection between smartphone
is possible for that when we click the button on/off, it starts recording
and it stops it by clicking it again.
I can say that is practical in this way.
Otherwise, I'm opening the covered area,
in this part, the biggest trouble is two little lid lock
. So, it seems that it can be broken at soon.
Until now, it didn't make a trouble but I think that it might be broken at soon.
Here, we have HDMI out
and mini USB input.
Apart from that, there is a battery below it.
Removable battery is a big advantage.
Both it provides use it longer time by buying more than one battery
and we don't have to open inside when the battery life is over.
At the same time this 1300 mAH battery let us to record more than 1.5 hours
which is really good number.
On the top of the battery, under the usb inputs, we have an SD card input.
You see SD there.
For me camera's biggest problem is
the firmware using have enabled to watch 3D videos just from the application on the phone.
Apart from that when we have the display MP4 format at computer,
we were just able to watch 2D as you see on the screen.
However, they changed it by the new firmware and computer's application.
After editing the videos by the computer's application,
it can easily be watched on youtube in 3D.
Now, let's come to my main idea to buy it,the connection between the drones.
Firstly, let me talk about that this camera is used for car security cam.
I'll share a shooting example.
In this way, it will provide to show that how did it work and how does it look like.
Otherwise, for the drone,
this part, let me show it.
I'll show its montage in the second video,
which let us montage to the helmet.
It provides us to attach to the drone's under smooth surface.
It's really usefull.
After reinforcing by some plastic cable ties,
it became very delicate.
Its montage is easy.
Just we have to find a smoot surface on the drone.
Apart from I wanna talk about this cable.
Actually, if the SJCAM had given acces to that cable, that would have been their biggest advantage.
But unfortunately, even it supports AV OUT and GND as I used for the previos systems,
it didn't support the entry PWM which is new.
I'll explain what does this cable work in the video of SJ7 review and installation.
However, this camera doeesn't support it.
Only, it provides an advantage about this cable
as we can charge it with this cable.
With a radio controlled bec,
during flight we can activate or disactivate the camera with this cable.
The thing that we must be careful is
we can't control the camera I mean we can't start an operation such as taking a picture or shooting a video.
Just when it activates on the car mode,
shooting starts and when we disactivate it shooting stops.
It doesn't counts as an advantage or disavantage.
The camera's weight is approximate 104-105 gr
that's why we should buy it as thinking our drone's lifting power.
I think that the multicopter which are nearly 50 cm can easily to lift it.
That's all that I say about the positive and negatives of this camera.
after that, I'll try to share display which shows how does it work.
Firstly, let's load the camera's firmware
after that I stop this video.
In the next video, I'll show you how does it work on its application
and how we can upload on youtube by editing there.
To load firmware, first of all, we insert SD
after that we format it to FAT32 format.
After this operation,
we are clicking the link from their website,
we download the latest version of it, as during this video was 1.4.
After downloading it,
it brings a file, SJCAM001.bin without changing its name.
We copy it to the SDcard.
The operation on the pc is this.
Now we can go back to the camera.
SDcard that we loaded updating, we insert it to the camera's SDcard entry.
Before starting this operation we have to be careful that the battery is full.
After that, we activate the camera.
As you see, screen doesn't turn on but the led is blinking,
we wait until this operation finishes.
When the operation is done, SJCAM caption is there, the device start working.
After doing this operation, by clicking the mode button,
we can visit between its modes.
From here, when we come to setting options, below options,
we see that the version is 1.4.
After disactivating the device
we have to format SDcard again.
Firmware updating is this.
