High Tech High Media Arts Community Garden Fall 2017 Video - Duration: 2:37.

The High Tech High Media Arts Community Garden is a wonderful place for our environmental

science class to get hands-on experience with gardening.

Our class of Juniors started our work in the Garden at the beginning of the school year

in late August.

The Garden hadn't seen much love over the summer, so we had a healthy amount weeding

and getting our hands dirty ahead of us.

We pulled out all the weeds and dead crops from the previous year and began work on getting

the garden beds ready for planting again.

Back in our classroom, we were learning all about what makes nutrient-rich and sustainable

soil, what goes into compost, and all sorts of other readings about environmental gardening.

Fun fact: carbon dioxide emissions from humans are one of the big reasons why global climate

change is currently happening.

Do you exhale carbon dioxide?

You're a part of the problem!

In all seriousness, human activity does create a massive surplus of greenhouse gasses that

trap the sun's heat, causing climate change.

Our garden lets us bring food production closer to ourselves, so not only do we get to see

firsthand the work that goes into making our food, but we're also cutting out extra steps

and extra waste production that happens with regular mass-production of food.

Putting what we learned to use, we set up irrigation lines and started sewing seeds

in our newly nourished soil.

Of course once the irrigation started running again to water our lovely seeds, we had some

more weeds popping up as well.

After a bit more weeding, we spent some time putting shade covers over our little seedlings

to keep them from burning up in the sun or being eaten by various critters.

Some students took up honors projects to add more to our garden, such as making places

to store our tools, or revamping the chicken coop to be ready for brand new chicken friends.

And as the fruits, or, vegetables, rather, of our labor started to sprout out of the

ground, some students were hard at work on these projects.

At this point, many of the beds were looking nice and healthy, with all sorts of different

greens popping out of the ground here and there, left and right, just, all over the

place.

Some students got the privilege of harvesting the results of all their hard work, while

others had plants that were a bit more long-term.

However, even though some of us didn't get see the results of all that we'd put into

the garden, the work that we put into the garden doesn't end with us.

The students who take on the garden in semesters or years ahead of us will stand on the shoulders

of those who came before them.

And this garden, as well as the community around it, will keep on growing as a result.

[ENG SUB][YANG MI] 03122017| Tencent Video Star Award (Idol Perspective) - Duration: 6:53.

I'm very grateful that in this summer, we collaborate with Tencent and produce a show called The Coming One.

Thank you our judges, MiMi, HuaHua.

I'm very curious that why there's a flower in XiaoMing-Ge's hand?

YangMi gave it to me just now.

Then, she bet with me that I won't dare to bring this up. And I said I will probably bring it up.

She said you must thank me on the stage. Thank you YangMi for giving me this flower. Thank you.

YangMi last time acted as my sister. Yeah.

Draws love.
