Windows 7 Roku HowTo Stream DVDs and Any Local & Remote Video File Types ie. MKV/FLV/AVI Using VLC - Duration: 21:31.

Today I'm going to show you how to wirelessly stream any video file type using the free

Open Source VLC Media Player software to your Roku.

I've used Windows 7 and Window 10 with this setup which allows you to stream any MKV,FLV,

AVI etc.file types located locally on your PC from any mapped drive, external storage

device like a My Passport, any NAS drives or any flash drives connected directly to

your PC as well as external video links.

I will also be showing you how to stream DVD Discs from your PC to your Roku.

This streaming method is for someone wanting to watch Movies, TV shows or DVDs on one or

more of their TVs etc. simultaneously and wirelessly on their Roku devices.

This video is not for someone wanting real-time streaming lag free as far as when a video

scene plays on a PC vs. when the same scene appears on the TV.

So let's get started.

First you will need the VLC software installed on your PC.

I will have a link in the description box below for the videolan.org website.

Please note I will be posting a future video on how to stream multiple videos from local

and remote sources and how to stream your PC's desktop displaying websites etc. with

any version of windows to any Roku model so subscribe and hit the bell to be notifed when

I post.

You will also need to Add two Roku channels.

The Private Channel Alive Streamer and the M3U Red Playlist Player.

I will have the Roku channel code links in the description box below.

The reason I say to install the Red Roku M3U player vs. the Black Roku M3U Player which

is a Private Channel for this setup is because the initial start of a stream could take a

few minutes to load and the Roku Black M3U player has a timeout feature that will exit

out before the stream begins.

Now the M3U Red player Channel is only required if you have issues streaming via the Alive

Streamer Roku Channel which may be the case if you have an older Roku model.

The Alive Streamer Channel on my Roku 2 XS device was unable to load the stream via that

channel for some reason so I had to access the video stream using the Red Roku M3U Player

from my Roku 2 XS instead.

You will need to create your own local M3U file using the local IP address of your PC

running VLC if you are unable to use the Alive Streamer Roku Channel since a M3U file is

required by Red Roku M3U Player channel.

Ok so once you have VLC installed you will need to configure a video stream.

I'm going to demo three streams one from a local video file on an external storage device,

another for a video file link from an internet website and finally a stream of a DVD disc

playing on a PC.

Now some of the reasons you may experience jumpy or stuttering video streams is because

your computer's CPU may not be powerful enough to stream this way, not having enough internet

bandwidth or due to the resolution of the video you are streaming.

I will also be showing you have to configure lower SD resolution profile streams if you

are experiencing major buffering or stuttering issues.

I will be doing a future video on how to find, retrieve and stream multiple video links from

the world wide web into vlc's video playlists of tv shows, movies etc. and watch them on

any Roku from sites like archive.org as well as how to wirelessly stream your PC's screen

to any 1 or more Rokus simultaneously using VLC.

So don't forget to hit that subscribe button.

Now I've open the VLC Media Player and I'm going to add a file from an external My Passport

storage device attached to this PC and stream it to my Roku.

Here are the required steps:

1)Select Media then Stream then Click the Add Button from the File Tab and navigate

to the file you want to stream 2)Click the Stream Button on the Bottom

3)Click the Next Button 4)Change the Dropdown menu from File to HTTP

and Click the Add Button 5)The default port is 8080 but you can change

it if this port is already in use by your PC.

6)Add any Path Name you wish.

The Source PC and Target streaming device must be in sync as far as the referenced Port

and Path.

7)Click Next.

Change the Profile from the dropdown list to Video - H.264 + MP3(TS).

8)Click the Next Button 9)Select the Stream all Elementary Streams

CheckBox.

10)And Finally Select the Stream Button

Check the bottom lefthand side of that screen that the video counter is incrementing.

If this is not the case the Stream was not setup properly.

A couple of ways to verify that the stream is working before accessing it from your Roku

is by opening up a second VLC instance as well as by inputting your streaming http live-stream

details into the IOS VLC App from your Phone but first you will need to identify the ip

address of the PC streaming VLC by going to the dos command line and typing in ipconfig.

The IP address of my PC is 192.168.1.25.

As mentioned you can also use the VLC App on your Phone to validate the Stream by Selecting

Network Stream then inputting http://@your IP Address , Colon and the Port and Path Name

you entered.

Make sure your Phone is on the same Wifi as your streaming PC.

Select << Open Network Stream >>.

After validating your stream close the second VLC instance where you Selected Network Stream

or Ctrl N. Check in Task Manager that you don't have old vlc.exe programs still running

if you have issues connecting.

Now let go the the Alive Streamer Channel on your Roku

Go to Live Stream Settings and input: 1)@followed by your PC's IP address

2)Next line input your selected stream port 3)Finally on the last line enter your selected

path.

Save then press the back arrow and select Play Live Stream

Please Note: This Channel may not work for you if you have an older Roku Model.

Please Jump ahead in this video per the link in this videos comment section to the Red

Roku M3U Player setup details if you are unable to connect via this channel.

It usually takes no more than a couple of minutes to connect to the stream.

In order to not have the audio from my PC playing while watching a video I plug in headphones

into the headphone jack.

Next I'm going to stream an external website's video link to my Roku.

You can pickup either mp4 or ogv links from this particular site to stream.

You can open the video links in the browser to verify that the link works.

Here are the required streaming steps:

1)Select Media then Stream then Select the Network Tab >> Enter the external internet

file you want to stream 2)Click the Stream Button on the Bottom

3)Click the Next Button 4)Change the Dropdown menu from File to HTTP

and Click the Add Button 5)Input the same Port that you previously

used. Add the same Path Name you previously used. 6)Click Next.

Change the Profile from the dropdown list to Video - H.264 + MP3(TS).

7)Click the Next Button 8)Select the Stream all Elementary Streams

CheckBox.

9)And Finally Select the Stream Button

Check the bottom lefthand side of that screen that the video counter is incrementing.

If this is not the case the Stream was not setup properly.

Please do the previously mentioned stream validation then click on this stream from

the Alive Streamer Channel.

Finally I'm going to stream a DVD disc running from my PC.

Let's navigate to the DVD and select play to see the DVD's titles and available chapters.

Select Ctrl L to minimize.

This streaming setup is best for DVDS that contain a single movie or TV Show DVDs that

have a Play All Track otherwise you would have to setup a stream for each individual

track.

Here are the required streaming steps:

1)Select Media then Stream then Select the Disc Tab >> Select Starting Position Title

and Chapter 2)Click the Stream Button on the Bottom

3)Click the Next Button 4)Change the Dropdown menu from File to HTTP

and Click the Add Button 5)Input the same Port that you previously

used.

6)Add the same Path Name you previously used.

7)Click Next.

Change the Profile from the dropdown list to Video - H.264 + MP3(TS)..

8)Click the Next Button 9)Select the Stream all Elementary Streams

CheckBox.

10)And Finally Select the Stream Button

Check the bottom lefthand side of that screen that the video counter is incrementing.

If this is not the case the Stream was not setup properly.

Please do the previously mentioned stream validation then click on this stream from

the Alive Streamer Channel.

I'm now going to show you how to create a SD video stream profile which you can tweak

as needed if you are experiencing major buffering or jumpy video issues with the default profile

settings.

Here are the required steps:

1)Select Media then Stream then Select the File Tab >> Click the Add Button and select

any video 2)Click the Stream Button on the Bottom

3)Click the Next Button 4)Change the Dropdown menu from File to HTTP

and Click the Add Button 5)Input the same Port that you previously

used 6)Add the same Path Name you previously used.

Click Next 7)Select the Create A New Profile Icon on

the Far Right.

1)The Encapsulation Tab:

Should have MPEG-TS selected

2)Click the Video Codec Tab:

Select Video Checkbox a)Encoding Parameters should have codec H-264

ii)leave bitrate at 800 kb/s this is what changes

your profiles stream resolution.

800 is a SD stream but you can reduce it to even less if you

still have jumpy video issues b)Click on the Resolution Tab and change scale

to .25

3)Finally let's Update the Audio Codec Tab:

Select Audio Checkbox a)Encoding Parameters should have codec MP3

and Sample Rate set to 44100

Now give this Profile a Name and select the Create Button.

You can go ahead and select your newly created profile from the Profile dropdown menu and

click Next

Select Checkbox "Stream all elementary stream" and click the stream button to test.

Going forward if you want to stream at a lower resolution select your newly created profile

from the dropdown menu instead of the Profile Video - H.264 + MP3(TS)

Here is a snapshot of a video streaming to two devices simultaneously.

The video scenes displayed may be at different points depending on the interface being used

to display the stream (ie. an IPhone or Roku TCL TV or a Roku 2 XS due to Channel or App

overhead.

The Alive Streamer channel for example sends the stream to the Alive Streamer developer's

server site initially and eventually streams onto your Roku device.

The IPhone IOS VLC App is directly communicating with the VLC stream on your wifi since it

is VLC PC app to VLC IOS app.

The M3U Player has less lag than the Alive Streamer.

Now I'm going to talk about how you can access this video stream from the Red M3U Player

Channel.

You can copy your M3U file onto a standard usb flash drive and plug it into your Roku's

usb slot if available.

You can also try putting your M3U file's content onto a site like pastebin.com if your Roku

model does not have a USB slot but I recommend purchasing a Sandisk Connect Wireless Flash

Drive and create, store and access your custom M3U files wirelessly from any streaming device

on your home wifi simultaneously.

Keep a lookout for my future video on some of the Sandisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive's

awesome unknown features and/or hacks never advertised.

Here are the basic entries required in your M3U file:

You will need to update the third line to contain your PC's IP address after the @ sign

per the IPConfig DOS command.I'm going to add an additional entry in this M3U file to

point to a movie on the archive.org site just for a fyi setup.

A typical M3U entry is made up of two rows.

The header row and the actual link row.

I'll leave a link in the description box of what are the various sections of a header

row in a M3U file as well as a link to this demo M3U file.

Let me go ahead and setup a stream.

I'm going to show you how I setup access to this M3U file from the Sandisk Connect Wireless

Flash Drive as well as from a standard USB plugged into my Roku's USB slot using the

Roku M3U Red Player Channel.

I've configure the Sandisk Connect with a password and set it up to access my home wifi

with a static IP address.

It is turned on and plugged into a USB charger port that is plugged into an outlet for 24/7

access.

I'm placing my M3U file on a standard usb flash drive and plugging it into my Roku 2

XS USB Slot.

Now I'm going to open the M3U Red Player Channel.

When you plug in a USB into your Roku's USB slot with any M3U files on it the M3U Red

Player channel scans and picks up all the M3U files located on that USB automatically.

Now I'm going to select the M3U file I created and open my local video stream.

A Sandisk Connect Stick does not transmit its content wirelessly when plugged into a

PC and it has a 4 hour battery life when not plugged into a charger port.

The IOS App required to setup the Sandisk Stick is called Sandisk Connect Drive.

After configuring the wifi you can identify its mac id and IP address by going into Settings

then About.

The IP used is from my home router since I setup the Sandisk Stick's internet connection.

My IPhone is connected to my home wifi as well when connecting to the app.

I will be using the Sandisk Flash Drive's IP to retrieve its M3U file details wireless.

Its userid and password is required.

The userid is always owner and the password is the password I assigned its internal wifi.

Usually if you have issues connecting to or configuring your Sandisk Connect Stick the

solution is to just reboot it by turning if off for a few seconds then turning it back

on.

I will include in the description box a link to a USB extender because the Sandisk Stick

has a wide frame taking up a couple of USB slots.

The USB extender helps to resolve this issue.

Next I'm going to copy this same M3U details onto a Sandisk Connect wireless flash drive

and create a tinyurl.com link pointing to the file which is accessible wireless from

your home wifi.

I'm going to login to the Sandisk Stick from my browser using its IP address.

You can right click and select Copy URL Link to get the file's ID.

Now I'm going to put these details into the tinyurl.com site.

I can now add this M3U tinyurl link in the M3U Red Player on all Rokus on my home wifi

pointing to this same local M3U file wirelessly and access the links.

I can stick the Sandisk Connect USB into my PC to update the M3U file content when needed

then place it back into the USB charger.

All updates will be picked up by all my Rokus accessing it via its tinyurl link.

So if I create various custom M3U files with TV links and Movies etc. I can add and/or remove

links and all the Rokus on my home wifi would pick up the changes.

I will be posting a video on how to access and cast videos from the Sandisk Connect Wireless

Flash Drive from within your home wifi on any Roku, Apple TV4, Fire TV and Chromecast.

Once again please note using a M3U file or using a Sandisk Connect Stick is only required

if your Roku Model is unable to access your local video streams via the Roku Alive Streamer

Channel.

If you find this video helpful please give it a big thumbs up and share it which helps

me gauge interests and decide which future videos to post next.

If you have any questions or comments please leave them below.

2017 2018 BMW M4 video review, vehicle tour, tech overview - Duration: 10:56.

there was a time when BMW only offered three different series of cars the

three series 5 Series and the 7 Series now in 2017 every number is covered from

1 to 7 with even numbers being coupes and odd numbers being sedans in this video

I'll be giving you a tour of the BMW m4 and I'll also be comparing it to its

sister car the m3 the specifications of both cars

are almost identical the most notable difference is that the m4 is a coupe and

the m3 is a sedan and also the m3 is a little bit cheaper

both the m3 and the m4 are powered by a three litre twin-turbocharged s55b30

ln line 6 engine which produces 425 horsepower and 410 pound feet of torque a lot of em

purists are disappointed that BMW went with a forced induction i6 rather than

another v8 but the engine has a pretty nice little party trick up its sleeve to

minimize turbo lag the engine has two small turbochargers each feeding three

cylinders the RPM of the impellers is always kept above 120 thousand rpm to

minimize lag the anti lag system is only activated in Sport Plus engine mode

this is done by managing the air flow and injecting a bit of fuel it makes one

wonder though how this affects the longevity of the turbos when they're

spinning at over 100,000 rpm the car has a pretty efficient cooling system aside

from the main radiator it also has auxilary radiators for cooling the

turbos and the transmission the system is powered by an electric water pump

here's a graph comparing m3s from various generations as you can see the

horsepower increase is relatively marginal compared to the previous

generation's v8 but the torque increase and the decrease in emissions are very

significant fuel efficiency has also been increased by up to 25% owners of

the e46 m3 would know that the rear subframe is one of the weaker points in

the car the m3 and the M4's subframe is solidly mounted to the monocoque chassis

for more stiffness the m4's weight is at three

thousand five hundred sixty-five pounds for the manual and three thousand six

hundred thirty pounds for the dual clutch curiously the m3 and m4 are only

slightly heavier than the much smaller m2 zero to sixty can be achieved in four point

one seconds fuel consumption is at seventy miles per gallon or 7.2

kilometers per litre city and twenty five miles per gallon or ten point six

kilometers per liter highway the car comes with 19-inch alloys and carbon

ceramic brakes the carbon ceramic brakes are an option the car also has a carbon

propeller shaft which is standard for both the m3 and m4 where the cars mostly

differ are in their looks and also in their practicality being a coupe the m4 has a

sleeker roofline the track width of the m3 m4 are the same but because of how

the rear quarter panel of the m3 is designed the m3 actually looks like

it is slightly wider at the back the fender flares look like they protrude a

little bit more anyway let me show you around the interior of the car okay this

is the M4'sinterior it's a middle ground between the five series and the

two series in terms of interior space the backseat is actually usable compared

to the m2 you have bucket seats plenty of bolstering side bolstering you have

carbon-fiber accents on the dashboard as well as the transmission tunnel you have an

automatic transmission with paddle shifters

In terms of storage you have limited storage in this car The difference between the m2 and m4

here if you see these buttons you can change the setting for example you want to

change setting for the suspension there's a button here There's options like sport comfort. stiffness or just the ride height

just the stiffness also the steering if you want comfort or sports put it in

sport steering is a bit sharper then also the engine here engine you can choose

between sport and comfort so if you put it in sport it's more aggressive throttle response is more sensitive

there's a separate button for shifting there's a button near the gear shift you have 3 settings the 3rd is the highest

The fastest gear change even the gear shiftings you can customize it upon this

setting for the engines the suspension you can actually save your own setting for

example you can see these two buttons here m1 and m2 so you can actually set

preselect your preferences for example on weekdays you want to be all

just comfort setting and then on weekends you can customize m2 and then

choose the setting if you want to change from comfort or sport regardless for example you want

sporty engine response but suspension is

comfort and then the steering is fourth and then the gear change you can set it to

let's say... there's 3 levels you can choose the first level of the transmission

you can save it so technically it's like a personal setting

You can customize all the settings from the transmission down to the steering wheel

of the m4 and m3

and then the seats the m2 it comes with dakota leather interior

this one it comes with a... you can feel it's more refined it's nappa leather

it's a much higher grade of leather for the m4 and m3

it also comes with a Harman Kardon sound system You can use your palm for for entering a

destination

you can see the list of information for Ayala

gas station, villages,MRT stations some shops also. How much does it cost. cost is around 8.88 million pesos

this one is the standard M4 we also have the m4 competitiont m4 GTS and the M4 DTM

The difference between the 4, this one is the standard it comes with 431 horses

the m4 competition is 450 and the m4 GTS, which is the track version of this car

is 500 horsepower and then the limited edition which is the DTM edition M4 is also 500 horsepower but

this one is limited only to 200 units wolrdwide

compared to the previous generation m3 the current generation m3 and m4 look a

lot angrier and it's the most aggressive looking car in the series the M3 and

m4 follow the current trend in performance cars smaller forced

induction engines and better fuel economy the in line 6 although not as

responsive as the naturally aspirated v8 actually produces more power and it's

lighter and also it's significantly more fuel

efficient due to BMWs anti lag system it doesn't suffer so much from turbo lag

what people will miss mostly from the v8 is the sound. The in line 6 just doesn't sound

as good the natural competitor of the m4 is the AMG c63 in terms of looks the

m4 looks more aggressive while the current generation c63 looks more

elegant the c63 has the advantage when it comes to horsepower torque and

acceleration the c63 though has a bigger engine it's also heavier and it's less

fuel efficient not that that matters in a performance car though at the track

the m4 and the c63 are more or less evenly matched when making a choice it

will boil down to which band you prefer
