Once upon a time there were three best friends named Skip, Chip and Gertrude who lived at

a old Weeping Willows orphanage.

Now…

Skip, Chip and Gertie - that's short for Gertrude, always enjoyed playing together.

The three of them decided they would celebrate by pretending they were having the biggest birthday

party ever.

And would you believe, they made themselves a big three-layer birthday cake out of mud?

Our cake's all ready!

I've got the candles!

Here, you forgot one!

This makes nine candles.

Our cake looks yummy.

I can't wait to taste it.

But not before we sing Happy Birthday.

I'll light the candles.

Happy Birthday to us, Happy Birthday to us,

Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday,

Happy Birthday to us.

Yeahhhhhhh.

Whooooo.

Now, let's make a wish. When I count to three let's blow out our candles.

Gertie you are so funny.

Ok Gertie, fun's over.

Stop kidding.

Gertie…..Gertie?

Something's wrong with Gertie!

Uh…

Uh…

I'll go and get help!!

Skip runs inside to tell Mr. and Mrs. Meanie, ya know they're the ones in charge of the orphanage.

Hearing the news, they both rush out to Gertie and can see she's very sick.

Mr. Meanie picks her up and carries her to the Infirmary, you know that's sick room

where she's put to bed and left all alone.

Mrs. Meanie placed a sign on the door that read DO NOT ENTER.

The boys were sent to their dorm room without any supper.

And would you believe the Meanies said it was their fault that Gertie was sick?

Now on the next morning…

Hi!

Good morning Mrs. Meanie.

How's Gertie?

Not good.

And it doesn't look like she's ever going to get better.

I've done all I could to help her.

Can you get her a doctor?

A doctor?

No way!

There's barely enough money to buy food to feed all of you greeeedy little kids as it is.

There must be something we can do to help Gertie!

Yeah.

There's something you can do –

Pray for a miracle!

Ha!

Now get out of my way.

Can't you see I'm too busy and don't have any more time for your gibberish?

Ha!

Pray for a miracle?

Chip, what'd ya suppose she meant by that?

She means it's hopeless to think Gertie is going to get better but - if we ask GOD

He just might heal her.

Uh, Ok.

We better hurry.

Where do we find Him?

Gertie has to get well!

We don't need to go anywhere.

Our Creator GOD can hear us wherever we are because HE has super sonic hearing!

HE does?

Yep!

Uh.

GOD since you have this super sonic hearing I suppose you already know about our friend

Gertie.

So we, that is me and my buddy Chip here, want to make sure that Gertie's all better again.

Ok?

When I'm talking to HIM, I always make sure I include HIS SON, JESUS, in the conversation.

Why's that?

'cause JESUS knows what it's like to be hurting and loves to help.

Uh.

OK.

Uh, JESUS, we really need your help here.

Will HE say something back?

Not like you hearing me talk to you...

But...

Oh!

Oh!

I got it!

I got it!

I think He's already answered because I've got a terrific idea!

And what a courageous idea it was!

That very same night, after everyone else was sound asleep, Skip and Chip quietly got Gertie

out of bed and put her in a little rickety old wagon and they set out for Willows Creek

to find a doctor for Gertie.

Now since Willows Creek was a long ways away, they decided to save their supper

to take with them.

Which was an apple and a peanut butter sandwich each.

Fortunate for them, it was a full moon out that night which made it easy for them

to see the road.

Rickety-rackety, clickety-clackety went that noisy old wagon.

On and on it went clickety-clackety, rickety-rackety.

It's a wonder it didn't wake up everyone in that orphanage, as well as every other

living creature.

And I'd say there was something sho pretty supernatural about that.

Rickety-rackety, clickety -clackety on and on for hours.

Neither of them saying a word to the other.

Neither Skip nor Chip wanted to be the first to admit how hungry and tired he was...

or that maybe...

this was a bad idea.

After all, how else would Gertie get to see a doctor and be well again?

Aw - Jumping jellyfish!

What's this?

Looks to me like a tree.

I know it's a tree but what's it doing here?

How are we going to…

How are we going to pull our wagon through that?

Looks to me like we could just go around it since the road is wider than the tree.

Oh.

Uh huh.

Duh!

Well the night is finally giving way to day.

The sun is rising - and it already feels like it's gonna be a scorcher.

As for our friends, their minds have been so focused on getting Gertie to the hospital

that they didn't even realize that they've been walking all night long –

without ever taking a break!

I'd say there's something sho pretty supernatural about that.

On and on rickety-rackety, clickety-clackety.

And just when you begin thinking all is well…

Aw!

Jumping Jelly doughnuts!

What now?

Looks to me like the wheels have come off the wagon.

Duh!

I know that.

But how are we gonna fix it?

Looks to me like this would be a good time to pray.

Ok.

You say JESUS likes to help. Well go ahead and ask Him.

I'd like to see Him come and fix this wagon.

JESUS. Please help us…

We neeeeed ya right now.

Our wagon is broke...

It needs some fixin' !

Let me introduce myself, I'm Mr. Mack.

And sho looks like you kids could use some help.

We certainly could use some help putting the wheels back on our wagon.

Hmmmm!

Doesn't look like it's even worth fixin.

Where are you kids trying to get to with that wagon?

We're taking our friend Gertie to the hospital in Willows Creek.

Oh.

Oh.

I'm very, very, very sick.

Ohhh.

Why it just so happens I'm on my way to the Willows Creek Hospital with a special delivery

of jawbreakers.

There's room enough in my truck for ya'll and your wagon.

Would you like for me to drive ya there?

Oh!

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay

My, oh my what a wonderful day!

After the kids and their wagon were in the truck Mr. Mack drove onward.

Him singing joyfully while driving along.

And Skip and Chip are feeling so happy now that they're singing along too.

Even Gertie seems to be perking up!

You know, to the kids, it seemed like it was only a few minutes before they arrived

at Willows Creek Hospital.

Then about two hours later…

Guys!

Guys!

Look at me!

Gertie?

Woooow!

You are all better again!

Yeah!

Doctor Dogood knew exactly what to do to make me all well again.

Well yes.

After I took an x-ray of Gertie I saw her tummy was full of mud pies.

Say whaaaaaat!?

Guys, when we were playing outside, sometimes I was so hungry I sneaked bites of those

mud pies we made.

Yuk!

Once I got all the mud pies out of her tummy and gave her some yummy food to eat…

Well now, she's fine!

As you can see in this x-ray, in her tummy there's a party going on!

While I was sick I wondered where GOD was.

But now I know — HE was with me all the time, through you, Skip and Chip.

You risked everything to get me to a doctor.

And through you Mr. Mack, who came to our aid at just the right time…

And through you Dr. Dogood, who knew just what to do to make me feel all better.

Why, yes!

GOD sure has His way of using people to show his love.

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay

My, oh my what a wonderful day!

As you can see our story has a happy ending.

But, for it to have a perfect ending, you should know what happened to Mr. and Mrs. Meanie.

Well after the kids told Mr. Mack how it was growing up in that orphanage, he had the authorities

do some investigating.

You see the orphanage was NOT poor after all.

The Meanies had been keeping most of the money to spend on themselves.

So the authorities put those Meanies in jail.

Mr. Mack and Dr. Dogood, along with their wives, took over the orphanage.

They fixed it up and renamed it "Refuge of Hop e".

Now all the kids living there are happy!

And as for those three best friends? Well they remained best friends for the rest of their lives.

Now I'd sho say there's something pretty supernatural about that too.

helping people find their doppelgangers.

• These two women were matched up within a matter of a few seconds.

• Despite their uncanny appearance, they're 20 years apart in age.

14 – Two redheads • Unlike Jennifer and Ambra, these guys

didn't go out trying to find a lookalike.

• It just sort of worked out that way.

They met at a party, and then posted a picture together on Reddit.

• As much as they look similar in the face, the REAL crazy thing is that they both just

happened to have their hair in the same length and style when they met.

13 – Sophie and Lauren • Sophie Robehmed turned finding her doppelganger

into a personal obsession and social experiment.

• She searched for months using the hashtag #DoYouLookLikeMe, before finding a match with

Lauren Hatchard, a film industry worker.

• Robehmed chronicled much of her search in writing, including some of the other close

matches she found.

Apparently a lot of people thought she looked like Natalie Portman.

12 – Face Swap Twins • There's a perfect way to see if your doppelganger

is a TRUE lookalike.

• Use FaceSwap, and then see if you can tell the pictures apart.

• One of these pictures have been faceswapped, but even the original poster can't remember

which one it is.

• Granted, they might be able to tell if they weren't wearing sunglasses, but still.

11 – Amanda and Meredith • Amanda Fisher accidentally found a woman

on Instagram who looked exactly like her, so she tried to make contact.

• The women looked SO MUCH alike, that when she posted the image on imgur asking for help

tracking the woman down, several people disregarded it, assuming it was actually just two photos

of the same woman.

10 – Heads of Management • Some people have to work really hard to

find their so-called twin strangers.

• These guys?

They just work together, as employee and boss.

• We don't know if they sound as similar as they look, because if they do, there is

definitely some Undercover Boss potential there.

9 – Partygoers • It's hard to say what's more impressive

here.

Is it the similar hair color and style?

• Is it that face that makes them look like a gimmicky tag-team wrestling duo?

• Or is it the fact that two people independently decided to wear red, white and blue plaid

to a party, presumably of their own volition?

• At least the red washout of the photo makes it hard to see those fashion choices

clearly.

8 –90's Twinsies • At a party that appears to have been taking

place in about 1992, these two women found each other sporting basically the exact same

face and hairstyle.

• This immediately spawned a reddit conversation about how one of them is doomed, so they must

fight to the death.

• We don't know whether they actually did that.

Probably not.

7 – Accessorized • Meeting a doppelganger with the same hairstyle

as you or similar clothes is one thing.

• But having the same hair accessories?

• That's an extra touch you just don't see in the "randomly finding people who look

exactly like you" game.

6 – Uncanny • One of these guys was a stand-up comic

doing a gig, when he saw the other one in the audience, and just had to meet him.

• Luckily, the timeline didn't collapse when they touched each other, so they're probably

just guys who look alike, and not the same person from different dimensions.

5 – IKEA Twins • Of all the places to meet somebody, these

guys managed to run into each other at IKEA, proving once again that IKEA really does have

everything.

• It's probably also worth noting that they took this picture in front of a Christmas

display, but the picture was posted on October 22nd.

• IKEA might be jumping the gun on the holiday season just a bit.

4 – Spectacles • At a random pub in Madrid, Spain, these

two guys just happened to be in the same place at the same time.

• Same style of glasses.

Same facial hair pattern.

Both wearing nerdy-looking t-shirts.

• They even have the same signs of male-pattern baldness.

3 –Beard Doubles • The people in this picture look similar,

and that's largely due to the shaved heads and the majestic beards.

• The only thing that's kind of disappointing here is that the beards, while similar in

size and shape, aren't even the same color.

• And they appear to have different textures as well.

The guy on the right seems like his beard would be much courser.

Also, it seems like the guy on the left is trying to be Popeye.

2 – John and Neil • Neil Richardson was a priest who retired

to a small UK town, where he didn't know anybody.

• But when he arrived, he started being greeted by the residents there with a wave

and the words, "Hello, John."

• Since his name was Neil, he was understandably confused.

But not long after, he found himself face-to-face with John Jemison, who looked exactly like

him and had lived there for years.

• And the similarities didn't end there.

It turned out the men had studied at the same college, both done work as teachers, and had

accounts with the same bank.

1 – Neil and Rob • From the neck up, Neil Thomas Douglas

and Rob Stirling are a perfect match.

They met completely by accident on a flight to Ireland, and decided they have to take

a selfie.

• Of course, the two aren't a PERFECT match.

One sports an English accent, the other Scottish.

• And Rob is much larger in stature than his supposed twin.

But those faces and beards were all their selfie needed to go viral.

and we are representing the ELD community in LHS

ELD stands for English Language Development,

and it is a program for students who don't speak English fluently

We have more than 100 students in LHS who are in ELD or have been in ELD.

We came to the United States for different reasons,

and we want to get involved in society and school.

However, it is not easy because our language and culture are different.

Most students have troubles with English because it is hard to learn another language.

First, we want to introduce ourselves

As ELD students, we have experienced many unique and embarrassing situations.

We make a video to show you, teachers, how ELD students are feeling in Leigh high school.

Since English is not our first language, it is not easy for us to make friends in school.

Sometimes, we are left alone

Okay, we have a project due next class.

Language is always the major problem. Sometimes, we can't understand what the teacher is talking about.

Okay, guys. Today we are going to talk about China.

China is the one of the biggest country in the world, and the major language in China is Mandarin.

And there are more than 200 dialects in China

There are Hakka, Cantonese, Hunanese and many other languages.

And the two main rivers in China is the Yellow River and the Yangtze River

And the Yangtze River is the longest river in China

We are afraid to ask questions or speak out loud in class because we don't want to be laugh at

Put us in a group if we are alone in class

Give us time to prepare for our presentation,

Please try not to make them very nervous.

<Kelvin>: Hi, we are Group 4, with Kelvin, Hank, Jonathan, Jeff, Mireu, and Yanjun.

Today's subject video will be about warfare, specifically on the topic of insurgency.

<Hank>: Insurgency is defined as: the quality or state of being insurgent; specifically:

a condition of revolt against a government that is less than an organized revolution

and that is not recognized as belligerency.

<Jeff>: You've probably heard of examples of insurgencies on the news.

For example, there are ISIS and Taliban in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

Another case is with the separatists in Eastern Ukraine that are fighting against the Ukrainian government.

<Kelvin>: In these recent cases, we can see how information technology plays an increasingly

important role in the conflicts between the insurgents and the governments.

Let's see what people think about this.

<Student #1>: I believe any social media platform would be a powerful and useful tool to insurgents.

The use of social media and the internet basically promotes and amplifies a trend.

<Student #2>: There are companies out there which built software to try fighting insurgencies.

On top of that, the use of surveillance and more modern tracking capabilities that

There are states can use leverage technology to locate in and track insurgency.

<Mi-reu>: Through information technology, insurgents can leverage it for organizing

their movements, and spreading information as well as misinformation.

Information technology also enables new ways for insurgents to fight against the state

through cyber-attacks.

<Jonathan>: For example, ISIS uses online platforms to garner and organize support around the world.

By using public relations, recruitment, and propaganda in virtual space such as YouTube,

Facebook, and Twitter, ISIS organizes global terrorism activities, recruits foreign agents

and creates new terrorist cells around the world.

For example, the al-Hayat Media Center is an online platform that is also known as the

media wing of ISIS.

They contain speeches and video clips designed to radicalize a Western audience.

Pro-ISIS hackers have also managed to deface

US government websites in order to deliver their messages.

The EU law enforcement agency is taking on Islamic state's PR machine.

Islamists have been getting the upper hand online and have been recruiting thousands

of foreigners for months.

<Jeff>: In 2011, there were a series of protests in the Middle East called the Arab Spring.

Social media like Facebook, Twitter, and SMS played an important role to facilitate these

protests, and the protesters sent their messages of revolution using these websites.

The social media helps to link of activist and to spread expansion of people to take

actions against their governments.

<Hank>: In the case of the Ukrainian conflict in 2014, pro-separatist cyber activists performed

DDoS attacks, website defacement and malware infection via spear phishing, causing serious

damage to government equipments through these cyber-attacks.

Propaganda campaigns were also active online, with both sides claiming the other side to

be committing war crimes, such as when the civilian Malaysian airliner MH17 was shot

down over the conflict zone.

<Yanjun>: Information Technology has completely changed the way of tracking down insurgents

in recent years.

Authorities are now using Artificial Intelligence software and surveillance system to predict

and prevent insurgencies.

For example, the facial recognition sunglasses has helped Chinese police to capture 7 suspects

wanted in major cases, as well as twenty-six individuals traveling under false identities.

With more than one hundred and seventy million CCTV cameras across the country, experimenting

Chinese authorities were able to locate and apprehend a BBC Reporter in just seven minutes

with the help of its powerful surveillance system and facial recognition technology.

Authorities are able to monitor and prevent insurgency through social media

and cellular network.

For example, Euro-pol, the European police agency has worked with social media companies

to identify and take down accounts that are associated with extremists and ISIS.

<Kelvin>: However, while governments are able to use IT to combat insurgency, many are also

concerned that the same technology will become an invasion of privacy and human rights.

Without proper regulations, governments can record and analyze our personal lives at will

without any repercussions.

This can lead to abuse of powers by corrupt government officials who may use surveillance

technologies for purposes other than national security, or used as tools of suppression

by oppressive regimes.

So it appears that information technology has a mixed impact on insurgency.

On one hand, it has empowered insurgents to organize and spread their movement, as well

as exposing new ways to attack the state.

On the other hand, information technology has also enabled new ways for states to monitor,

identify, and deal with the insurgents that threaten state authority and security, but

at the cost of the privacy and rights of its citizens.

Will this lead to a safer and more peaceful world?

We certainly hope so, but only time will tell.
