Hello, everyone. I'm Yuito Kimura, the producer of Shadowverse.
Thank you for playing Shadowverse and joining us today.
Today during Shadowverse Next,
we'll be talking about what's coming up next for Shadowverse,
a digital card game for smart devices and PC by Cygames.
Although it's still in development,
I'd like to go over the new content that will be added in the upcoming update.
Okay, so let's dive right in.
What's NEXT for Shadowverse?
First, what's NEXT for constructed play?
In an upcoming update in late December,
players will be able to choose from two formats for constructed play.
One of the formats will be Unlimited. The other will be Rotation.
Let me explain each one in detail.
Next!
First I'd like to go over Rotation.
Rotation is a new format, different than how Shadowverse has been played until now.
In this format, players will only be able to use cards released in the 5 latest card sets as well as basic cards.
Decks can only be constructed with cards from the latest card sets,
keeping the game environment competitive while providing a fresh experience with every update.
We believe this format will make it easier for new players
to jump into constructed play.
The 6th card set "Starforged Legends"
was just released on September 28,
bringing the total number of cards to over 900.
The 7th card set will take this to over 1,000 cards.
We needed a play format that gives new players
a way to easily start and enjoy the game.
The upcoming Rotation format
will only allow cards from the 5 latest card sets and some of the basic cards,
limiting the card pool to about 500 cards.
With fewer cards to worry about, this format will make it
easier for new players to learn the game and get started.
Next, I'd like to talk about the other format: Unlimited.
Unlimited is the current format for Shadowverse
allowing for all cards to be used dynamically.
However, in order to balance the card pool and maintain a fun play environment,
we may restrict or ban certain cards from Unlimited.
We will be looking at how the cards are used and determine whether
a certain card should be restricted or banned in order to cultivate a more enjoyable game experience.
Let's go into further detail about Rotation and Unlimited.
Currently as of November 2017, all released cards are available for use.
When the 7th card set is released, the new formats will be implemented.
For Rotation, cards from the 5 most recent card sets,
starting from Rise of Bahamut to the 7th and newest set will be playable.
For Unlimited, all card sets from the Standard card set
to the 7th set will be playable.
When the 8th card set is released,
cards from the 5 most recent card sets starting from Tempest of the Gods to the 8th set will be playable.
For Unlimited, everything from the Standard set to the 8th set will be playable.
In Rotation, only the 5 newest card packs will be playable.
Unlimited allows all cards, except restricted or banned ones, to be used in a constructed deck.
Rotation will also be implemented to Ranked Play.
When this format is implemented to ranked,
players will have their rank, score, and master score copied to Rotation.
Following this, scores will be earned separately for both Unlimited and Rotation in each format, respectively.
Players can become Grand Masters in either or both Rotation and Unlimited.
Players can claim Grand Master rewards in each format.
Accumulated score rewards can be claimed using and combining points earned from both Rotation and Unlimited.
Enjoy dynamic battles in Unlimited
by building decks with all cards at your disposal.
Enjoy fresh tactics in Rotation
using only cards from the 5 latest card sets.
By adding this new format and giving players a choice, we hope to make Shadowverse
a fun experience for both existing players and anyone looking to start Shadowverse.
The addition of the Rotation format means it will be featured in future tournaments as well.
Let's look at some of the major tournaments we have coming up.
Next!
First off, we'll be holding the Shadowverse Premier Cup, a major tournament that will be held in Tokyo from January 20 to 21.
This tournament will be played using the Unlimited format.
Next is RAGE 2018 Spring. This tournament will be played using the Rotation format.
Preliminaries will be held in February, and finals will be held in March.
Another major tournament we're planning is the 2018 Shadowverse Taiwan Open Spring Series,
a major event in Taiwan.
Preliminaries will be held from January to February, with the finals in March. The play format is currently undecided.
We'll be holding tournaments using both the new Rotation format as well as the Unlimited format, so players can enjoy both play styles.
You can check for tournament details at a later date on our social media. Stay tuned!
Let's move on and see what's next.
Second is what's next for the game's features.
I'd like to talk about some of our upcoming new content.
So let's jump right in and take a look.
Next!
Players can participate in a new tournament mode in Arena.
Anyone can take part in this in-game tournament regardless of your rank.
There will be preliminary matches
to determine which players make it to the finals to earn exclusive rewards.
Play at your own leisure and pace.
From home, while commuting, or during breaks. Whenever you have a spare moment.
Join in on the fun whenever you have the time.
We will announce the event dates and detailed rules at a later date.
In addition to the in-game tournament, more features and contents are on the way for Shadowverse,
Finally, we have a major announcement for you all.
Without further ado, here's our reveal trailer.
That was the introduction video for Yuwan, the leader of the new Portalcraft class!
Shadowverse is getting a new class
in addition to the seven we have now.
I'm really excited to be able to tell you about this.
Let's take a closer look at what Yuwan and the new Portalcraft class can do.
Next!
The new leader Yuwan is a vengeful warrior who has the power to traverse dimensions.
He fights alongside Arisa and the others to save the world.
Yuwan will have his own storyline, so look forward to seeing more of Yuwan, the vindictive contender, in action.
Let's look at some of the cards in Portalcraft.
This new class introduces enchanted lifeforms
and otherworldly beings, including puppets and artifacts.
Here's your first sneak peek at some Portalcraft cards.
This card here is Mechanized Servant.
It gains the Rush ability if Resonate is active for you.
Resonate is when you have an even number of cards left in your deck,
activating certain abilities and effects.
Resonate abilities require you to keep track of your deck—
a totally new mechanic.
Let's take a look at a new card type, trademark of the new Portalcraft class: Artifacts.
Take a look at the following cards.
On the left is Magisteel Lion and on the right is Analyzing Artifact.
A Magisteel Lion can add two Analyzing Artifact tokens to your deck.
An Analyzing Artifact has the Last Words ability to draw a card.
In the new Portalcraft class, cards like Magisteel Lion
can add powerful tokens like Analyzing Artifact to your deck.
The Resonate ability for Portalcraft class activates
when you have an even number of cards in your deck.
That means Resonate will generally be active for you every other turn.
However, the new Portalcraft class will have cards that can change the number of cards in your deck,
giving players the ability to manipulate this effect.
Check out the following card.
This card is Black Iron Soldier.
This is one of the cards that can change the number of cards in your deck.
Black Iron Soldier can draw an artifact card from your deck and places it into your hand.
In this way, when playing Portalcraft,
you can draw artifact cards directly from your deck.
Some artifacts can also draw cards with their Fanfare ability.
By making full use of these abilities, you can activate Resonate strategically when you want.
That's it for our brief introduction. The new leader Yuwan and the new Portalcraft class will be released along with the 7th card set,
scheduled to be released on December 29, 2017 (JST).
When Portalcraft is added, players will receive a default Portalcraft deck that includes basic Portalcraft cards.
This will allow you to experience the power of Portalcraft from the get-go.
As the Portalcraft class will be released along with the 7th card set,
it might initially be difficult to use due to a lack of cards compared to other classes.
But be assured that more Portalcraft cards will be coming with the 8th card set and on.
Portalcraft will be a new force to be reckoned with in both Rotation and Unlimited formats.
A dedicated page for the 7th card set will be up and running in early December.
Stay tuned for news around then about the new cards and class! I hope you're as excited about it as I am.
I hope you all liked what you heard here today.
We only introduced a fraction of what's in store,
but I think you'll agree there's a lot to be excited about for the future of Shadowverse.
Let's have a recap of the three announcements from today's Shadowverse Next.
First was what's next for constructed play.
Constructed play will be split into two formats. One will be Unlimited, the current format. The other one is the new Rotation format.
I'm confident both old and new players will find their place in one or both of these formats.
There are many upcoming tournaments scheduled featuring the new format.
Second was what's next for the game's features.
An in-game tournament mode that anyone can join will be added to the Arena.
It should allow you to experience Shadowverse in new and exciting ways.
Third was what's next for card classes.
The new Portalcraft class and leader Yuwan
will bring a new Resonate mechanic to the table.
The world of Shadowverse still continues to expand.
We've got a lot in store for Shadowverse.
The 7th card set will be released on December 29, 2017 (JST).
Expect a dedicated page on our official website for the 7th set
to go up in early December!
We hope you are looking forward to this!
We'll also keep you posted on these upcoming events.
Our first RAGE Shadowverse World Grand Prix will be held on December 23rd and 24th, 2017
