If you're interested in cutting-edge sociological research, working in a
supportive scholarly community and living in one of the best cities and
regions in the nation, then this is the program for you.
Whether it's high quality teaching or opportunities to work on federally funded research projects, there are just
numerous ways
that we try to work to
make our
graduate students successful.
There's a lot of research opportunities working
with faculty. The mentorship is invaluable.
The doors are always open for me to come in and ask questions.
People respect each other's point of view,
but we challenge each other when we
make each other think bigger.
We do sociology in a way that is more all-encompassing.
There's so much data in the world now but what is lacking
in the workforce is people who know what to do with it.
Students who graduate from our program
will end up in jobs in Research I institutions, in teaching positions.
They could also end up in the government sector or in think tank positions.
Living in Boulder, Colorado has been a true treat.
Tons of outdoor activities, breweries, good nightlife, but what makes this place great is the people.
They're able to craft the type of career that they want to.
We have a number of ongoing interdisciplinary research projects that are happening.
But they'll be provided the resources
and in fact encouraged to carve out
something of their own.
There's a sense that there are a lot of different successful paths and
that we're supporting students in whatever path they think they're successful for.
