welcome to Tech Talk tech TV video review talk Tech
I'm your host Allan and today
we're checking out the little tykes zoom video camcorder
you must be in the market for a new camcorder that's why you're here that's
why you're watching this video you're gathering the information about all the
different options you have and there's a lot of options and you want to pick the
right one before you spend all that money you want something with the right
features the right ergonomics functionality, etc. we're going to take
a look at a consumer level camcorder and a very excellent price point typically
to find these in thrift stores on the major camera retailers at the moment
aren't carrying this camera it was a bit of an older model being that it was mid
to early 90s that this was first released by little tikes. Now let's take
a look at some of the exciting features about this camera, this camcorder it's a
pretty decent size not too large and the weight it's actually very light for a
camcorder this size you usually expect something heavier and that's good
because if you're doing a lot of documentary taking your gear out on the
road it's nice that at least the camera isn't so heavy so let's take a look at
the lens on this the lens has a 58 millimeter filter thread whether you're
going to use a polarizing filter in there neutral density you can jam that in
there it doesn't actually have the threading but you can jam the filter in
there like I said and it will fit and hold, the lens is a 24 to 50 millimeter
roughly focal length and that's pretty good range for a camcorder this size
now let's take a look at an interesting feature of it and you don't actually see
this on a lot of other camcorders now a lot of camcorders they'll have what's
called aspect ratio markings so if you want to shoot something and you don't
want it to be in the normal 16:9 but you want to add you know the
letterboxing the black bars in post you want to know where to compose your shots
accordingly for that and usually you can add lines that are either you know,
1:78:1 or 2:39:1 for anamorphic but on this one you have
this crank wheel
which actually makes a pretty spectacular sound as well and it
moves these two lines within the view inside the camera so you can actually
come up with your own custom aspect ratio so that opens a whole lot of
creative opportunities there
so that's pretty nice and once you dial that in that's going to stay unless you
bump it and let's take a look at the recording media on this camcorder now
the recording media is a little blue tape and I actually don't know where
that is for this one but anyways a little blue tape and you
slap it on there and now one of the downsides about this recording media is
it doesn't actually record any video this isn't really an operating camcorder
but other than that there's nothing wrong with the little blue tape on the
back here there's also another kind of interesting filter and this is the bug
eye filter you turn this on and why I say bug eye is because it's kind of like
the view that a fly has you know the fly has a lot of different chambers on its
eye that's kind of what you see when you twist this on so that's a pretty
neat in-camera effect no After Effects necessary for that
it's an in-camera effect right there okay let's take a look at the other side
of this camcorder take a look at the other side of this camcorder now and
it's got a nice hand strap here and it has your buttons right here you're
forward stop reverse record right at your fingertips
good buttons good placement I like that this camcorder is typically made for
operator with smaller hands though so it is a bit difficult to get your pinkie
all the way through you can still get three of your fingers through there and
one thing about the buttons though as much as I do like the buttons and good
placement everything they're actually not operating buttons they're just a
sticker that's applied across here of the forward stop reverse record so
despite seeing those functionalities there you can't actually achieve the
operation of those because it's just a sticker and not actual buttons now let's
take a look at the bottom of this on most camcorders you'll have a typical
tripod mounting arm usually it's the what is it
quarter-inch thread anyways on this it doesn't have that at all so if you're
using the tripod you're going to have to just
balance it hope that the tripods level and that it doesn't fall off
shouldn't be too big deal overall I'd say the camcorder is pretty good quality
good operating features I even like the eyepiece at the back it will be flushed
to my eye as I use it I don't have to worry about any Sun getting in my way if
I'm out running and gun and shooting with this of course once again just
remembering that it can't actually record any video so let's take a moment to look
at the inside of this camcorder because that's what we all kind of want
to know about what kind of image sensor we have in here let's look at some of
the hardware in there so let's crack this open and we can do it pretty easily
there's just three screws here and you know what you can't use your standard
multi head screwdriver because it's just it's too thick to get in there now you
got a got to have the right one Phillips head and that'll get you in there
so let's take a look at the inside of this camcorder okay first thing I'm
going to do is I'm going to peel off this little tikes logo with an exacto
knife I'm just going to peel it off halfway so it doesn't rip when I split
the camera open because what's the point of owning a little tykes camcorder if I
can't show off that it's a little tykes camcorder
perfect I don't have to worry
about that being wrecked now let's get those screws
okay looks like those screws of the only visible things keeping this together it
should be pretty easy to pry it apart now
okay it's actually looking more difficult than I thought so I'm gonna use this
flat-head screwdriver now and just kind of try and pry it apart wow they really
put this together good and you know what that would be a good thing as well I
know that the contents of my camcorder are very secure
it looks like there's
actually another screw inside there that can only be accessed by prying open this
panel here
okay that is actually not coming off very easy either
you know what I think you just gotta pull as hard as you can okay there we go
so we've gotten it open and wow it all looks pretty spectacular inside there
take a look at the inside looking all pretty good I haven't seen anything as far as
the image sensor although I got a good idea of how the zoom works on it and of
course this is that creative filter here the bug eye vision as I like to call it
fly vision rather yeah pretty neat and of course this is the aspect ratio
markers changing in here so overall pretty solid build on the inside a
little unfortunate that I needed to nearly break the camera to get it open
but aside from that so looking pretty cool inside and you know what I noticed
that there's a 1-800 number on the side of the camcorder under the handle that
says call this number for repairs so even though I wrecked the camera now I
know that I don't need to worry because they're going to fix this camcorder up
for me okay so we had a good look at the inside
of this camcorder all I'm going to say is if you do get this camcorder I'm not
going to recommend opening it because as you can see though it's a bit difficult
and it's not quite going back the way it was but anyways let's think about how's
this camcorder okay it doesn't actually record video that is one setback but
it's got great features I love the aspect ratio markers the lens is pretty
nice lens with a good zoom range and the creative filter is a pretty neat option
size weight really nice too not a bad camcorder overall and remember very
inexpensive so still not a bad option but if recording video is absolutely
crucial to you then maybe you want to look elsewhere but if you want a
camcorder that doesn't necessarily need to record video you just want to look
through a lens and have fun this might be the camcorder for you okay well
anyways for TV Tech Talk video review Tech Talk

Driving stats - Attaching video and more - Duration: 4:05.
In this session I'll explain how to attach a video to one or several laps
and I'll also show you some of the additional features from within the
driving stats section of the app. So starting off as before choose a car and
track combo within the VRS app for which you wish to look at in more detail. It's
worth pointing out that you can also choose stats from teammates here and
filter the results by track and car using these dropdowns. Again I'll select
the Ferrari at Spa. The "session details" page loads and this time I want to draw
your attention to this row of buttons below any session files. They're all
somewhat self-explanatory and the first one allows you to enter any comments
specific to the session such as "practice for IMSA". The next button
allows you to attach a video of interest to the session from YouTube such as a
VRS tutorial. To the right of this we have "set video analysis" which is how VRS
coaches attach both cockpit and chase view videos to their data packs. Before
doing this you must first have captured video from the iRacing sim itself and
then uploaded the file to YouTube. Tools such as the inbuilt iRacing video
capture, OBS or Fraps will allow you to do this. Links will be provided for these
below. The first thing that we're going to do this time is to attach a video to
the fastest lap. Click on "set video analysis" ensuring your fastest lap is
chosen from the drop-down. Then, simply paste the video URL for the cockpit view
in the main video field. A preview should be displayed, allowing you to carry out
the next step which is to carefully pause the video at the exact moment you
cross the start-finish line to start the lap. It's often helpful to slow the
playback to 0.25x speed and observe when the lap number changes.
Double tap the spacebar when you're close to be more precise. When happy with
the timing press "set as start time". You can now follow the same process if you wish
to add a chase video.
Tick "use for remaining laps of stint" if you wish to attach multiple laps just
make sure the first lap in the video matches the drop-down selection. When
happy choose submit. Before we view the analyzer again I'll quickly go over some
extra features. "Upload file" allows for the manual uploading of any replay files
or lap files from your iRacing folder. Publish session is only available to
coaches to publish our session to data packs or students undertaking coaching
so ignore this. Analyze session will open the driving analyzer but will prompt you
to select laps manually for comparison. "Get permalink" simply copies the session
URL for sharing with teammates and friends. Finally if we scroll down to the
stint, we can open the analyzer from here to compare specific laps
against the target set above or against the session average. For now though we'll
access the analyzer from the opportunities panel as in a previous
video. If you have a competitive tier subscription, the side-by-side view will
be shown. VRS will keep the two laps and video synchronized so you can closely
compare both. You'll notice the playback functionality is lost but you can use
the arrow keys and mouse to navigate to different points in the lap. Toggle off
side by side mode to revert back to the normal display. If you wish to have your
video displayed instead of the target lap swap the laps over from the laps
panel. Any teammates you may have on VRS can now configure your own lap as their
target, for which they would now be able to compare against the video of your lap
in the same way as you would do to a data pack published by a coach.

Yafeng Wang: On Video Game Addiction - Duration: 5:28.
in the first year of my masters degree in philosophy at Tufts University I took a
seminar with a professor that I greatly admired. For the final paper topic of
that class the professor suggested for me an idea he was very excited about
It was a very idiosyncratic interpretation of a famous philosopher. The professor
asked if I would like to work out the details of that idea for him. I said yes.
I really really want to work with that professor
I soon realized that I didn't like the professor's idea at all. The more I worked
on that idea the less it made sense to me. By the end of that spring semester the
paper turned into an incomplete. For the first couple weeks of the summer break I
locked myself up in my room I didn't talk to anyone at all. I tried very hard
to make progress on that paper. I got stuck every time. I was frustrated.
Confused. I never had problems writing philosophy before. I have no idea what
went wrong. Finally a solution came to me. I could escape from all these troubles
by playing video games. I knew I had problems with video games before. Back in
middle school I played video games so hard that my parents had to physically
destroy all the gaming CDs in order to stop me from playing. But the idea of
getting stuck at this paper again and again was so oppressive that playing
video games felt like a great solution at the time. I started playing
immediately. It was so much fun to command huge Roman armies in the siege
of Carthage or to travel across the snowy mountain
skyren to hunt down a dragon. In the game world I was free, safe,
powerful. I felt I had none of those things in real life. My video game
behaviors quickly escalated. Often I played 10 hours, 12, even more hours per
day, often skipping meals to sleep, even bathroom breaks. Time flew by.
On August 6th I sat on my bed talking to my parents on the phone. It was my
birthday. My parents were excited! I was lethargic. Finally my dad asked what was
wrong. I told him I've been working on this paper really really hard I'm tired.
I hate myself as I lied. I knew that I haven't been working on that paper for
over three months. In the meantime, I played for over a thousand hours of
video games. At that moment I really wanted to stop but the idea of going
back to that paper getting stuck was terrifying. I chose to go back playing
games. It was the easier choice. About two weeks
before the fall semester began I woke up one morning completely stressed out. The
idea of going back to school, face my professor telling him that I had done
nothing at all on the paper during the summer finally sank in. That day I locked
away my gaming device. I brought my books down into my basement I started working
on my paper there. It was a terrible day. I was tired, sleep-deprived
I constantly fantasized about playing games. I regret about wasting so much
time already. I didn't get that much work done on that day. I did manage to refrain
from playing. The paper took three more months of hard work to finish. Initially
it was just as difficult. I had to research on videogame
addictions just to cope with my cravings. Slowly the paper grew on me. I felt more
comfortable, more confidence in working on it. By the time I was done with it, it
was the most interesting paper I had ever written. A year later I used it as
my writing sample for my PhD applications. It helped me to get into
the Stanford philosophy department. To this day I still experience videogame
cravings, especially when I face challenging creative projects. When that
happened I will remind myself of what happened before, how a paper that I tried
so desperately to escape from ended up creating one of the best opportunities
of my life.

ICSD Video Interview: Marijo Lusic - Duration: 4:46.
Here I am at the handball competition venue
I would like take this opportunity to interview
Marijo Lusic, from Croatia
and also a member at large on the ICSD Executive Board.
Can you tell me your involvement in the sport of handball?
When was the first time you got involved?
My first Deaflympics was in 1985 for the
sport of handball.
However, I had already competed in previous Games
in basketball.
I switched to handball in 1985.
I also understand that you have a
Deaf son who competes in handball with you.
In which Games?
In 2005 at the Melbourne Games, we competed
together on the same team for Croatia and
won a gold medal.
It was a proud time for us- checking
off the list! It was a beautiful experience
for a father and a son to play together.
Same thing for your Deaf daughter who competing in curling.
Yes, she competes in the Winter Deaflympics.
We come from a long lineage of deaf family members.
My Deaf father also competed in sports way
back in 1925, so it is now nearly 93 years ago.
I am proud.
I am goose-bumped about the long line
in your family in deaf sports.
Another question-the future for the sport of handball-
some years we had a large turnout and
some years- small.
Can you tell more?
The first time the sport of handball
in the Deaflympics was in 1969 in Belgrade,
Yugoslavia (now Serbia) for men only.
The first time for women's handball was in
Rome, in 2001.
We have not been very successful with the
number of teams for women, but for men's
division, we manage to keep it at 7-8 countries.
The largest was in 1993 in Sofia with 9 teams.
Now we have in Samsun a total of
8 teams.
We could have more teams but unfortunately the
Paralympic movement in some countries has prevented the
deaf to compete- like France, Italy, Hungary and
USA who withdrew due to political instability in Turkey.
In the near future, I expect the number to rise to probably 12.
Moreover the number of ICSD members has increased to 113.
When the first-time men's handball was incepted in
1969, the total of ICSD members was 32.
With the new members and leaders, we are on the rise.
I know there was handball for women in the Deaflympics.
What happened?
The issues relating to women are special in nature.
Right now, there are 8 countries with women's handball.
In Africa, there are 3 teams- USA, Russia,
Brazil, and Denmark also have women play handball.
Unfortunately, three teams from the Africa region were
not given visas to enter Turkey for the
Games, and USA chose not to come.
That left us with only 4 teams to complete here.
ICSD requires at least 5 countries from at least 2 regions
before the event can take place.
Therefore, it had to be cancelled.
hope for better results for the next Games.
A message for you women- if you
want to compete you must follow ICSD's rules and regulations.
I hope we can resume women's handball soon.
A last question for you Marijo -
which countries do you foresee playing in the final game?
I am not quite certain.
My hunch is Russia and Croatia in the finals.
Or Germany or Turkey??
These 4 countries have shown prowess in competitions
so let's wait and see.
Thanks!!! (Hand waving to Marijo)
