Using Video to Educate - Duration: 2:02.
Video has many purposes, and one of the big ones is explanation.
To understand why video is such a powerful explanatory tool, consider the following lesson.
Pythagorean Theorem states that, in any right triangle, the square of the length of the
hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other two sides.
If the legs have lengths A and B, and the hypotenuse has a length of C, then A squared plus B squared
equals C squared. Got it?
Well, if you didn't follow, maybe I didn't use video to its full potential.
So let's try again, but this time we'll use graphics, and I'll change my dialogue.
Here's a right triangle.
Now, let's square all three sides.
Pythagorean Theorem states that these squares together have the same total area as this square
That's it.
The point of this example is only to demonstrate that video has tremendous explanatory power,
if used to its full potential. And the only way to do that,
is to design the script in a certain way.
Some so-called "instructional videos" are nothing more than recorded speeches. Maybe
Maybe they include some text here and there, but that text often serves no instructional purpose
– sort of like a redundant powerpoint slide.
The real power of video lies in its use of complementary audio and visual elements.
In order to really use that power, the script should be written with those two elements
working in harmony.
The real beauty is that, in my geometry lesson, I didn't have to say "the squares of sides
A and B, and the square of side C". Because I scripted with graphics, I could
use pronouns – "these" and "this" – making the
explanation not only more concise, but also more effective.
So, no matter what field you're in, if you're considering using video
to explain something to your audience,
you've got the right angle. But don't waste an opportunity by overlooking the necessity
of a carefully crafted script.

How to fix a corrupt FLP (FL Studio Project) - Duration: 4:05.
Have you ever made a project that you
were really happy with, and then one day
suddenly you can't open it anymore
because it has become corrupted ?Chances
are that you have. This happens to
everyone from time to time. In this video
I'll show you how you can fix this.
Nothing is more annoying than when
you've spent countless hours on a
project, and then find out that
everything is ruined! You should of
course always save a new copy often, but
let's assume you didn't. We've all been
there. The anger.. The frustration.. You can
literally feel the adrenaline building
up in your veins as you get an
uncontrollable urge to punch your fist
through the screen, and smash your face
into the keyboard. But before you do, I
have a better solution for you. What if i
told you that most corrupted projects
can be saved? That's right. There's a way
to fix these corrupted projects, and i'll
get to that shortly, but first i'll
explain why this usually happens in the
first place. It can be tempting to throw
a lot of third-party plugins into a
project. Most of us have more plugins than
we can remember. Some people also like
to pirate most of their stuff, which will
often tend to be a constant cause of
instability in various plugins, which is
one of the reasons why you shouldn't
pirate. That said, this can happen when
using legit plugins too. But obviously not
as often, as their coding hasn't been
messed with. In any case, when this
happens, the project will become corrupt,
and you can no longer open it anymore. FL
studio will typically crash when you try
to open it, or you manage to open it,
but it doesn't play. It's not just 3rd
party plugins that misbehave, it can
happen with native ones too. In any case
the solution is the same. Not everyone is
aware of this, but FL Studio has a
diagnostic & repair tool that can help you
deal with this kind of thing. When you
open the diagnostic tool, you get a few
choices as you can see here. If a project
is crashing when you try to load it, then
it's usually because a plugin inside the
project is misbehaving. This can happen
if the plugin crashed when the project was
saved.
In that case, you can click here, and then
click "select" to save a repaired version
of the project. If that didn't fix the
problem, and it can't automatically
detect any problems, then you have to
remove the plugins one by one, until you
find out which one is causing the
problem. To do this, click here. You'll get
a list of plugins used inside the
project. It won't always display its name,
sometimes it just displays the wrapper. I
recommend trying to remove these one by
one, until you're able to open the
project again. To do this, just click here
to remove this plug-in, and then click
"select". A new copy of the project with
the plug-in removed will be saved. Repeat
this process by removing plugins one by
one until you manage to open the project.
Once you've figured out exactly which
plugin is causing the problem, you can
start over and then just remove that one
plugin, and then save the project again.
Now you should be able to open the
project. Replace the plug-in you removed,
preferably with one that works, and keep
on working. I've included the download
link for the diagnostic tool in the
description below. I hope this was
helpful. You can help me make more videos

How to automatically caption your YouTube video - Duration: 3:20.
hi my name is David Brown and I'm
instructional technologist here at
Dalton State and today i want to show
you how to automatically caption your videos
with youtube and the way that works is
you upload your video that you want
captioned into your YouTube account
which all YouTube accounts are free and
after you upload that you'll notice that
when you pull up the video there's
no closed captioning symbol here because
it's not captioned yet automatically you
can do that by doing these steps. First
click on video manager and after you
click on video manager you'll see a list
of your videos you have in your account
and what you want to do is click the
drop down list for your the video you
want captioned and choose subtitles /
CC as soon as you do that you can now
see that you're at the closed captioning
portion of YouTube and you have now
allowed this to be automatically
captioned and I always click on the CC
button as well and once you click on the
CC button you'll usually see the first
thing you're going to say pull up but
you may not be able to see anything else
yet because it takes YouTube usually
maybe 20 minutes to do the typical 5
minute or less video so once you click
the CC button here you'll see the first
one started to show up but YouTube's got
to do the rest and it will take a while
there are other options here you can go
back into to edit your video if you tube
goes through this and the translations
don't look well once it's finished you
can go here and edit what YouTube has
done but it's not finished yet once it's
finished you'll be able to do that but
that's pretty much it once you do that
it will automatically caption and the
captioning will be accurate if you held
the microphone up to your close to your
mouth and spoke loudly and clearly if
you're trying to automatically caption
something where the speaker was far away
it will not be accurate and even if it's
up close you'll still have to go in here
and edit edit your video once it's up
there edit the captions so but usually
the captions are pretty accurate as long
as you held the mic up close to your
mouth and like I said they aren't
accurate you can edit them to make them
accurate and you can even export them
out of YouTube as well but that's a
little bit about how to use YouTube. If
you don't want to use YouTube, Camtasia
has automatic captioning in it and
there's a few other internet sites
that do some automatic captioning that's
not quite as easy as YouTube but you're
certainly welcome to try those and if
you need more information about those
let me know. So that's how to automatic
caption a video in youtube. Thank you
