It's not easy to have blue hair often
so I think it's very special. That's why I like it.
And I like black hair
because it's common hair color for Koreans.
I look tired? No, that's not true.
I am not tired. I am L in "Death Note".
I had to put on a make-up to look like I have dark circles.
That's why I look tired.

The scenes have the common topic which is investigation.
So compared to other musicals,
audiences will feel tensions and will feel like they are
being followed.
It's not a very common story for musical.
And all five actors are
very special.
These special actors are
all in "Death Note".
I think you will enjoy
watching the characters.
Also,
we all appear at different times.
Sometimes 2 or 3 characters appear together. L and Light.
L and Rem. Misa and Light.
Rem and Misa. And Light and Ryuk.
L and Ryuk and Light.
The characters come in different combination for each scene.
And there are
different synergistic effects
for each combination.
I think that's what you should focus on when watching the musical.
The music is great.
The lines are
well written and connected
to help you enjoy the show.
I think it's a perfect musical
for Koreans who are tired of current situation.

like fruity flavor.
When I played the character for the first time,
I didn't like sweet food and candy.
Even now, I don't like sweet stuff.
When I played the character, L for the first opening, I ate a lot of candy.
Since then,
I started to eat some candy.
In the past, I didn't like candy but
now, I am okay with candy with fruit flavor.
I like fruit flavor because I think
it's less sweeter than chocolate flavor.
The fruit candy
is essential for the show.
But it gives me a hardship. I get excessive saliva.
When I have to say my lines with candy in my mouth,
I get excessive saliva.
So It's hard to
swallow it as I say the lines.
Sometimes, I can't clearly say the lines.
So I try to concentrate more.
I try to
look natural when swallowing my saliva.

During the first opening, I was worried about it.
Xia-L is a different character for the first and second opening?
You have to think of the character as one character.
You can't think of it as a different person for each time I am on the show.

There are so many great songs in "Death Note".
For example, "Hurricane"...
it's now called "Death Note". There is a song called, "Death Note".
When it was a guide song, it was called "Hurricane".
I was shocked when I mentioned the title, "Hurricane".
I want to sing the song too.
And I like Sayu's song too.
I like this song a lot.

I can't sing a song to a man.

I appear from the orchestra pit.

I can connect to the character.

cry watching the scene.

Also, the actress,
Park Hyena sings
it so well with emotions.

Sometimes,
I don't think about anything and pretend like I am dead.
Sometimes,
I think of the last words spoken by Light and Ryuk.
I also think of the lyrics of
"Requiem" when
other actors sing it.
I am dead in the musical but
I think of the lyrics.
I think about life.
Even if you think
you are very special
and limitless,
everybody ends up
dying in the end.
It doesn't matter if you are competent or not.
Or if you are wealthy or not.
We are all equal
when it comes to death.
Which make us feel empty.
It's all in the lyrics.
So I think about the lyrics
and lie there.
Before...
It didn't happen until the 4th show this time
but during the premiere for 57 shows,
I think I fell
asleep 1/3 of the time. For about 5 minutes.
I was
late for curtain call.
Sometimes the light was turned on late because of me.
It's not like
I am sleeping. It's more like dozing off.
Because I put so much efforts,
I feel tired.
And I have to lie there for 15 minutes.
It was warm then.
And I wore a t-shirt and very comfortable pants.
It was cool and
the lighting was warm.
It made me fall asleep.
I didn't know I felt asleep.
But when the song ends,
I know that I dozed off.
I think that happened about
15 times.

For the scenes where
L and Rem meets,
it's hard to improvise those scenes.

Because I have to reason the whole time.
It's hard to improvise a line or scene when I have to reason.
I can't improvise lines when I am in those scenes.

compared to other actors, I can't really improvise scenes much.

trying many different things. I know there are
many people who watch all the shows.

For "Dorian Gray", "Dracula",
"December", and other musicals,
I had many scenes to appear.
So I didn't have much time in the waiting lounge.
I had to change outfit and be ready for the next scene.
For "Death Note", I appear throughout the show but
I appear
it takes about 39 to 40 minutes for me to appear on the stage.
During that time...
I can't just appear
on the stage without knowing what's going on so
I monitor the show in the waiting lounge.
I try to read the vibe of Light and Ryuk.
And also, I try to read the vibe of the audiences which is different every show.
I try to feel the vibe before I join the stage.
So I can mix well with other actors.

Sometimes I go down to the side of the stage
and feel the chemistry between the actors and audiences.
I watch the show...
In fact...
before 8, I do other things.
But once the show starts,
I can't really do other things even if I am not a part of the scene.
Because I am in the part of the show.

after 40 seconds, the school scene begins.
Even if I don't show up on the stage,
I become L. Just like how you watch Light on TV,
I watch him in my waiting lounge.
I have to know how he feels
so I can mix well
with him when I appear on the stage.

When I am in a musical, especially for those which I am the only person who play my character,
I try to sleep well.
I tell my agency
not to make early schedule
or other schedule unless it's important.
I try not to have other schedule when I am in a musical.
But for me,
if I sleep well one night, I get better the next day.
I have a special throat.
Since I am the only person playing my character,
I think I am used to it now.
For me, sleep cures everything.
Even if I feel good,
if I don't sleep well, I can't sing well.
Even on those days I sang too much,
and think I overwork my voice,
I get better if I sleep well.
I know that
sleep is the best cure for me.
If I try too hard to keep my throat healthy, it's not good for me.
I just have to sleep well
and when I have sore throat, I drink warm beverage.
