New Year's Resolutions Book Tag - Duration: 5:35.

Hey everyone, it's Tara. Welcome back to my channel!

Today I have for you guys the New Year's

Resolutions Book Tag. I was tagged by Sofie

to do this, I think, two weeks ago now and

the first time I filmed it I accidentally

deleted the footage before I imported it

so it was gone. So now I'm re-filming it

since I wanted to do the tag anyway.

So thank you very much, Sofie, for tagging

me in this then. I will go ahead and leave a

link to her video below as well as a link

to the creator's video down below. If you

guys are unfamiliar with this tag, this

tag is just a bunch of questions about

books that you would like to read in the

year. Got the questions here my phone so

let's start. Question number one: An

author you'd like to read that you've

never read before. I'm going to go with

Megan Abbott. I'll put some book covers here.

I've heard about her books for a little

while now I think he has a book called

like, Dare Me and then another one I think

that has to do with gymnasts. They focus

on girls relationships with other girls.

I don't know they're like romantic

relationships or just friendships but it

sounds like they're book that are

focused on girls and I books that are

focused on girls and have friendships

and relationships and all that in my

life. Question number two: A book you'd like to read. For this

I'm going to go with what we saw by

Aaron Hartzler. Sofie who tagged me said that

she read this book last year and really

enjoyed it and I've had this book on my

shelf for a while and just haven't

gotten around to it.

So what I know about this book is that

it's a fictional scenario similar to the

Steubenville, Ohio rape case that

happened a few years ago. And it follows

the perspective of a girl who wasn't the

victim but was at a party in which a girl was,

I believe, sexually assaulted. And so it

follows her story and how what she saw

at the party matches up or doesn't match

up with the actual truth of the matter.

Question number three: A classic you'd like to

read. I have the perfect answer for this because I

bought a classic the other day and that

is 1984 by George Orwell. This is getting

read this year, for sure. Question number four: a

book you'd like to re-read. I'm going to

go with The Female of the Species

by Mindy McGinnis. I read this book just

a few weeks ago and I loved it so much

but when I read it was a library copy

and so I went out and bought my own copy

and I kind of want to reread it see if

my perspective on anything has like

changed or if I pick up on things now

that I know the entire story and I also

want to go through and like highlight

and annotate things in here. For those of

you who don't know - if I haven't talked

about this book enough on my channel - it

is a critical examination of rape

culture and it has

three perspectives. It has the

perspective of our main character Alex

whose sister was raped and murdered

before the book takes place and so you

follow her perspective. You also follow

perspective of PK and her perspective

is truly the perspective of how girls

and women can participate in and

continue to perpetuate race culture. And

the third perspective is Jack who

functions as the male gaze so it talks

about ways in which he contributes to rape

culture. But throughout these three

perspectives you see the characters go

through tremendous amounts of growth.

It's a great, great story. Highly recommend.

Question number five: A book you've had for

ages and would like to read. So for this I'm

going to go with Bad Feminist by Roxane

Gay. I've had this on my bookshelf since

she was my professor in college and I

still haven't read it and I'm just - why Tara?

Why have you not read this book? I don't

know. I don't know.

But it's gonna happen. This book is

a collection of essays that deal with feminism

and how even as a feminist you still have

internalized prejudices, how you can still

get things wrong and perpetuate racist

or sexist stereotypes and things like that.

Question number six: A big book you

would like to read. For this i'm going

with The Diviners by Libba Bray. I've had this

book on my shelf for a while as well and you can

see that the sticker has even begun to

fade. But yeah. This is a big book I would

like to read. I feel like I don't really

need to tell you guys what this book is

about because I feel like everyone knows.

Question number 7: An author you

previously read and would like to read

more of. I'm going to go with Benjamin Alire

Saenz for this one. I have read Aristotle

and Dante Discover the Secrets of the

Universe and I loved it. Right now I

actually have In Perfect Light checked

out from the library. I haven't read it yet but I

really know that I want to read more

things by Benjamin Alire Saenz. I can only speak

from the experience of reading this one

book but the characters in here are

great and if the characters in here are

like any of his other books then

obviously I want to read it because I'm

all about characters. Question number eight: A

book you got for Christmas and would

like to read. I only got two books for

Christmas and I've already read one of

them to this is pretty easy. And this is

Saga by Brian K Vaughn and Fiona

Staples. My boyfriend got this for me for

Christmas because I pointed out that i

wanted to start reading graphic novels

so he grabbed this one for me.

Question number 9: A series you want to

read from start to finish.

For this one I'm going to go with the

This Savage Song by Victoria

Schwab. I'm not a big series person but this

one - not only does it feel manageable,

I've heard really great things about the

first book so why not go ahead and get

shot? Because i really love Victoria

Schwab's writing so I feel like I just need to read it.

Question number ten: A series you

want to finish that you've already

started. I've got two answers for this

but this book that I have in my hand has

been on my shelf longer so I'm gonna go

with this one. And that is the

Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. I've

had the Raven King since it came out in

April of last year and I think I got 30

pages into it and just wasn't ready to like

dive back into the world just because it

is so atmospheric but I want to finish

this cause I need to know what happens to

these characters because I love them all

so much.

Question number 11: Do you set reading goals?

If so, how many books do you want to

read this year. So in my 2017

plans video I decided that I was just

going to set my Goodreads goal to one book

and this was to reduce my mental and

physical clutter.

Since then, I have surpassed that goal but I'm

just gonna go ahead and keep it at one

book. So then question number 12: Any other

reading goals? I just want to make sure

that I'm reading more widely than I've

been reading before, making sure I seek

out books that deal with content that I

want to read, like books that deal with

racism, sexism, that confront rape culture,

books that have more friendships in them.

There are a variety of things that

I want to read. I want to read more

graphic novels. I wanna read more

non-fiction. I want to read more memoirs.

There are a lot of things I'd like to do

in 2017 when it comes to books, so we'll

see what happens!

Alright guys, that's it for the New Year's

Resolutions Tag. Thank you so much Sofie

for tagging me, I really enjoyed doing this

video. Thank you guys for watching. If you

enjoyed it please be sure to give it a

thumbs up and subscribe if you want to

see content from me every Tuesday,

Thursday, and Saturday and I'll see you

guys later. Bye.

Private World - Motivational Video (Legendado PT-BR) - Duration: 5:21.

Your brain is like a circuit switch

Once you believe you are something

You actually embody it, you embody that feeling

If you were God forbid in a coma

And you woke up and you didn't really have a memory

And you were told that you used to be a Navy Seal

And they want you back now when you're healthy

Do you think you'd act differently

And hold yourself differently

And conduct yourself different

And have a different self concept of who you are

Than if you were told that you were a piano instructor

Being succesful in life is all about having the proper belief system in who you are

Truly believing that you were something unique

That you were something special in that field

If you truly believe inside of you that you are one of the best actors in the world

You will be entirely different than if you're like 'I hope I'm good'

Your expressions will be totally different

Your tone of voice

You'll talk in a more convincing fashion

You'll use your natural voice instead of a scripted one

You'll be more emphatic

You'll be more real, more relatable

Our brain is like a circuit

And so if we introduce it with the proper wire

You're gonna go straight to your target

If you're unsure about who you are

Then, your dreams, your goals, they will never become a reality

Everyone has mental doubts in life, internal conflicts

Even the most succesful people that you look up to

But they don't live their

It's how you handle those negative thoughts in that exact moment

And overwhelm them with positive action

And that comes with this up most confidence in yourself

That you can handle this situation

Trust in yourself that you are better than the moment

Success, guys, a very, very lonely road.

Very few people are willing to endure: the pain, the sacrifices or intelligence to be successful.

It's an uphill battle...

and along that road, you're not going to see too many friends.

You're going to see your shadow most often.

You gotta trust in the heart of hearts

inside that what you're doing, what you believe in is a worthy, cause it a winnable fight.

See, the thing is for many people – they've tried the same path that you're on...

and they failed.

As you walk this journey you're going to see carcasses of all of this place.

People that didn't quite have it…

And that should inspire you because you got further than that person and that person.

But you're not looking to get further than them, you're looking to finish.

But how do you know you're on the right path?

Where do you go to ensure that?

Success – many will love you for it.

The majority will hate you.

Because your success...

makes them feel insufficient in their current endeavor.

Reminds them of how they could've done it but came up short and didn't revisit it,

where they went at and failed it and tells you what stood and never revisit it again.

The difference between a winner and a loser –

the failure is there every time,

but the winner gets back up and does it again and does it again

until it goes his way.

So now you're on that path all alone...

but how do you know you're on the right path?

How do you know what you're doing is in the right direction?

It's not the title that makes you, it's not the success that makes you.

It's the character that defines the success and defines the fame and it starts right there.

Championships aren't won in the theater of the arena.

They are won in the thousands of hours in a training room and the labs and the 5 AM runs in the rain when everyone else is sleeping. That's where it's won.

The heart of a champion...

is a light switch that's always on – it doesn't go on and off when someone's watching – it's constant.

It's how you look at something if your name is attached to it – that you do it right – the best of your ability every single time.

Victory has defeated you.

May I remind you?

You adopted to dark.

Mean that you practiced in the dark and was born in the dark

Shaped by the dark.

Molded by the dark.

Lately I've been hard to reach I've been too long on my own

Everybody has a PRIVATE WORLD Where they can be alone

Are you calling me? Are you trying to get through?

Are you reaching out for me? I'm reaching out for you....

Magic Lantern Vs Sony a7S II - Duration: 4:27.

If you're using Magic Lantern on a Canon DSLR,

and still unsure whether you should move to Sony,

this video may help.

The purpose of this video is to show you

my eight favourite features of Magic Lantern

and compare them to the Sony a7S II firmware.

Now, I've never used RAW in Magic Lantern

so I can't really comment on this

but anyway, let's get to it.

Let's start in the Overlay menu of Magic Lantern

and here, we have access to zebras.

Zebras are also included on the a7S II

by going to the Menu, with the Gear icon.

These can be set to a Custom button for quicker access.

Magic Lantern has a really useful focus assistance tool,

known as Focus Peak.

Now if you've used this, you know exactly

what I'm talking about.

This is also available on the a7S II

and can be found here.

Magic Zoom is a brilliant feature in Magic Lantern.

It displays a magnified view of the selected

focus point and can be used while it's recording.

The a7S II has a similar function

called Manual Focus Assist.

Punch-in magnification on the a7S is very similar too

and also works during recording.

I use cropmarks all the time when framing the shot.

It's a really useful feature.

You can even make and use your own custom bitmap overlays.

Cropmarks on the a7S II can be found here.

Make sure you aren't on any mode,

apart from Movie mode.

To change the aspect ratio of cropmarks, go here.

Currently, you can't upload custom markers

as you can with Magic Lantern.

Ghost Image is so good, if you've ever needed

to re-frame a shot after moving from it.

You just overlay a previously shot image in Live view

and then align this to what you're filming.

The a7S II doesn't have anything similar to this currently.

Further down the Menu, we have a Histogram,

to show where your image is under or over exposed.

A waveform monitor, to show the brightness

or clip parts of the image,

and a vector scope, to show the colour distribution

in the image.

All these overlays can be used together on screen

as seen here.

Sony did not include similar exposure tools

on the a7S II.

You'd have to buy a Field Monitor

and access them on that.

They did include a histogram

and this can be accessed by pressing Up on the wheel,

depending on if this was selected in the Menu.

Another function that's so good

is the built-in Intervalometer.

You avoid using a shutter release remote

and do everything within Magic Lantern.

It works so well too.

The a7S II doesn't have an in-built time lapse function,

instead, you have to download it

via Sony's app store.

The maximum continuous recording time

for most DSLR's, or mirrorless cameras

is 29 minutes.

The Movie Restart function will automatically

restart your movie once it has reached

this 29 minute limit.

The a7s II doesn't have a similar function to do this.

So those were my most used functions in Magic Lantern

and the next camera I buy has to have

similar or better ones

and I feel the a7S II matches the functions

of Magic Lantern

BUT, the Sony a7S II goes further by offering various movie recording formats,

internal 4K, the Electronic View Finder,

which is just crazy

and the insane Low light performance.

So, I feel as a camera, as a film-making camera,

the Sony a7S II is better overall

than the Canon running Magic Lantern.

Sony will continue to release cameras

for filmmakers and I feel their cameras will improve

and they will totally dominate the scene in time.

If you like this video, click Subscribe

And I'll see you very soon.

How Video Games Saved The United States - Duration: 3:22.

Hello All.

For decades we've been told that violent video games are going to turn our children

into monsters.

In fact it's done the complete opposite.

It seems obvious to me that Video Games have made our children more peaceful, and they've

made our country dramatically safer.

Video Games save lives.

Nobody really knows why crime is falling across the United States.

Is it policing?

Dramatically different strategies across thousands of police departments seem to be yielding

the same results, so it's not just policing.

I'm pretty sure that Chicago's horrifically bad policing has a lot to do with why it's

an outlier.

But Chicago is an outlier, Crime is falling almost everywhere else.

No one factor created this happy situation.

The whole, "we don't have lead in the gasoline anymore" explanation is kind of interesting.

Some say legalized abortion has cut down on angry unwanted children.

But there is one variable that should get more credit, and may be the most important

variable of all.

That factor is video games.

Almost all crime is committed by young men.

It used to be that young men spent the majority of their free time out in the streets socializing.

In the 1970's through the 1990's a perfect storm of drugs and the breakdown of traditional

authority structures led to a true epidemic of crime.

Drugs haven't gone anywhere.

Traditional authority and family structures aren't coming back.

But from the 1990s to today there has been an unbroken trend of falling crime.

Even the largely justified loss in trust for policing we've seen over the past couple years

hasn't yielded lasting spikes in crime outside of a few places.

So what happened?

Video games are the latest craze to sweep the country and most of the world too.

Millions of people are addicted to hours of gazing at electronic images on game screens

in arcades, and in their own homes...

Starting in the 1980's and at an ever accelerating pace since then, video games have gotten exponentially

more interesting, time consuming and local.

In the 1980's you went to a public arcade to play the best games.

Since the 1990s it's all been home based systems of one kind or another.

The young men that commit crime now spend more and more of their time plugged into the

world of gaming, shooting people in virtual reality rather than actual reality.

In broader society this anti-social trend is something to be lamented.

But I think it may also be why crime just keeps falling.

So maybe that's what Chicago needs.

Anybody want to fund a Playstations for Gangbangers program?

Thanks for watching.

hard on good topics because only working hard is not going to work, work hard smartely.

Let say you make a video on a topic that is not too much interesting but you made it in

3 days means by very hard work but if your topic is not good then who will be watching

it. no one comes on internet to be bored everyone are free to watch and do anything they like
