Wright Patterson Active Shooter Report: Livestream Video | Heavy.com

Authorities say that active shooter reports at Wright-Patterson Air Force base hospital near Dayton, Ohio were a false alarm triggered when an unknown person called 911 during an active shooter training scenario.

WDTN-TV is reporting the base has given an all clear to its employees but is still urging them to remain away.

The hospital has been locked down and there is a massive law enforcement response to the scene.

There was an active shooter drill at the base shortly before the incident was reported.

The FBI is reportedly taking over the scene, and the ATF wrote, "BREAKING: ATF Columbus Field Division is responding to reports of an active shooter at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio.

Wright-Patterson Confirmed There Was an 'Incident'.

Wright-Patterson AFB confirmed there had been an incident in one of the buildings on August 2, 2018 but did not provide many details about the still unfolding incident.

"At approximately 12:40 p.m.

today, base emergency responders, including security forces and fire department, responded to a reported incident in building 830, the Wright-Patt Hospital.

There are no additional details at this time.

Information will be released as it is available," Wright-Patterson AFB wrote on Twitter.

The AFB then wrote, "At approximately 12:40 p.m., base emergency responders (security forces, fire department) responded to a reported Active Shooter incident at the base hospital.

Base personnel have been directed to shelter in place until the incident is investigated.".

And: "Our first priority in any emergency incident is to protect the men and women at Wright-Patt.

Our base security forces defenders and fire department personnel are trained to quickly assess situations and take necessary action.

An investigation is under way.".

Scott Sands, a host at 1370 WSPD wrote, "My intel sources on base at Wright-Patterson are telling me the 'active shooter' situation on base has ended.

FBI is standing down.

This was an accidental weapon discharge in the middle of a planned training exercise.

All Clear to be issued at WPAFB." However, that information has not been confirmed by authorities.

News Reports Said a Gunman Might Be Barricaded in a Building.

Scanner reports "indicated a shooter may be barricaded inside the hospital," according to WHIO-TV.

Authorities have not yet confirmed that detail, however, and they have not said whether anyone was injured.

A woman wrote on Twitter: "Shooter is barricaded on 4th floor of base Medical Center.

Have family there.

All employees, over 20,000, told to 'shelter in place.'".

"My husband & my toddler son are currently on lockdown at #WPAFB due to active shooter on the base.

Currently they are both safe but cannot leave.

Situation not contained.

I don't want thoughts & prayers.

I want common sense gun control NOW.

2News reported that it had "confirmed from a law enforcement source that a man has barricaded himself on the fourth floor of the base hospital.

An alert was sent to personnel at the Air Force Base to take cover, according to Patch.

The alert read: "Emergency responders are enroute.

All WPAFB Gates are Closed.

All personnel take cover.

Limit all communication to emergency use only.".

Wright State University, which is located in Dayton, Ohio, wrote on Twitter, "We are hearing reports of an active shooter situation at WPAFB.

This poses no threat to our campus; however, please stay away from the base.

Our thoughts are with our friends at the base.".

People wrote urgent messages on Twitter.

People took to Twitter to express concern about loved ones at the base.

"If everyone could say a prayer for my cousin…There's an active shooter on the hospital where she works on base at Wright Patterson Air Force Base," one woman wrote.
