hi my name is Anthony Lopez I'm a pre-communications major I was previously a
business major for the first two years of college I decided to switch my majors
to communications because I feel like it attracted me way more than business
after sitting in business classes for a couple years I didn't really feel a
connection that I was hoping to feel so I switched my major this summer and I'm
excited to start these classes and hopefully it can prepare me for the
future I'm not sure what specifically I want to go into just yet but whatever I
do I hope to enter the sports side of communications because I feel like I can
spread my word there and a lot of information and that I thoughts that I
have to to those people my hero story for yall it took me a while
to think of a hero story and I mean I really can't view myself
i don't view myself as a hero too many times but I guess one story that you know that
stuck out to me was actually last year two years ago I'm sorry
in my comp 2 English class I was way behind bad for the class we just
it was just essays that we had to do and it was it wasn't that they were hard it
was just more than you know I wasn't applying myself like I should
have been but um once I get down to writing I mean not to toot my own horn
but me I feel like I can write you know I can write I can piece
together something well you know so I was behind like um month and a half's
work I was about to drop the class you know I was gonna take the withdrawal and
go from there you probably retake the class but um my
friend just you know she was in the same predicament and she made a deal
with me you stay in the class and gut it through then I'll do it too
so I mean I did it and I stayed in the class i really buckled down really
buckle down i spent a lot of weekends just catching up and you know gathering
my information for the essays that we had to do reading all of that and it all paid
off I mean I finished I caught up with with I caught up with the class and
eventually I was good to go for the our comprehensive our final it was just one
big essay and I was able to do that smoothly I mean there was bumps along
the roads to doing that but I finished everything I gut it through finished it
and at the end of the day I received an A at the end of the course so that was
something I was really proud of I was really close to dropping the class
and I'm glad I didn't it because I mean I gut it through and I got an A so I'm not
sure if that I still don't think that you know qualifies me as a hero at least
in my perspective but um maybe to other people like that are struggling
with classes and they don't think they don't think they can gut it through they think they're
too far behind you know you never know you just keep on applying yourself and
you keep on working and you know you can eventually catch up and you can surprise
yourself so I hope like that story can at least inspire other people because
you never know what can happen um you know so but from that story and from
that experience I learned that you know that I really enjoyed writing especially
on a good topic something that I had to get information about so I mean I was I
was happy to learn that ever since then I mean I don't have trouble writing but in
conclusion what I want to learn I want from this class
the three goals I want I just want to learn I want to learn you
know the basics of communications all that the foundations what it takes to be
a great communicator and all of that you know I want to grow also I want to make
sure you know I leave this class you know with way more information
than I could've imagined and then I hope that I can apply that what I learned all
the information I learned and just I can apply it effectively in my career you
know and the rest of my the rest of my studies you know and eventually in my
career so this is just the beginning so you know I really hope I can grow and
learn and use this information effectively
