Waching daily Sep 28 2017

This is a semi structured placement video as part of my Professional Masters Career

Management unit at Swinburne University of Technology.

I am Bandarupalli Sankarshana, a Mechanical Engineer from India.

I am currently pursuing my Masters in Mechanical Engineering Design at Swinburne University

of Technology.

Prior to coming to Melbourne, back in India I worked as a Graduate Engineer Trainee for

a Mechanical Engineering Design Firm for one year.

I learnt Mechanical Design and Analysis software like Solidworks and Ansys here.

Besides, I could fine tune my communication skills while interacting with colleagues and

sometimes with the customers.

My biggest strength is being able to arrive at an optimal solution using a technique called

Relative Merit Analysis.

In our life, we come across various situations those are influenced by several factors.

Each one of those factors may have own positive and negative contributions.

Relative Merit Analysis technique scientifically allots scores for all the factors.

Thus, giving a holistic approach to the entire process of decision making.

I have implemented this generic technique in my personal as well as professional life

at all important stages.

During my internship at Hyundai Motors India Limited, I stood out amongst the rest of the

students by suggesting production improvements along with manufacturing drawings of the parts involved.

It drew genuine public appreciation from the Team Leader of the Transmission Assembly department

towards implementing the improvements suggested.

This is one of the best complements I have ever received.

I am not a native English speaker and whenever I get involved in seminars or public speeches,

I always try to observe the native English speakers to proof read and edit my work.

In the past, understanding the Australian accent was challenging but by mixing up with

the native English-speaking students, getting involved in volunteering works etc., now I

can overcome this weakness.

I was not very good at asking the right questions while taking up any new assignment.

My yearlong training stint at Esquire Engineering Solutions Limited taught a lot in this otherwise

grey area.

It also helped me to think ahead of possible scenarios while executing any given task.

Now when I am back to studies at Swinburne, I am able to exhibit better performance while

interacting with Professors or while giving presentations.

After my Masters, I wish to add up my professional awareness and experience in Automobile or

Product Design Industry.

It would be the realization of my long-cherished career path.

Over the next four to five years, I wish to graduate to be a niche Product Designer of

relevance to the society.
